Excellent WLED Controller That’s Ready to Go

I’ve owned several BTF-LIGHTING products, and I’ve had a really good experience with them overall. They’ve been reliable, work well, and generally function exactly as expected. This controller has been no exception.One of the best things about this is that it uses an ESP32 and comes with WLED already loaded. That makes setup significantly easier because you don’t have to start by flashing the controller yourself. If you know your way around WLED, there’s a ton of flexibility here for customizing and controlling your LED setup.I especially like this for Home Assistant. WLED integrates really well into a smart home setup, and having a dedicated ESP32 controller makes it incredibly versatile.Obviously, there are a lot of configuration options, so your experience will depend somewhat on your LED strips and how you set everything up. But if you know what you’re doing, this essentially just works.So far, I haven’t encountered any issues. It’s flexible, reliable, and convenient, and I highly recommend it for anyone building a WLED or Home Assistant lighting setup.

Fantastic LED controller, mic is quite fun

I am an avid user of the WLED firmware. I use several controllers of these types indoors, as well as weather-rated ones for outdoors. This SP805E controller has two ARGB outputs, which is nice for controlling two such LED arrays from the same point of origin. This effectively doubles the length the LED arrays can be before they start showing signs of power or data loss. While LED strips can be daisy-chained, the greater the distance from the power source the less power effectively gets to the end of the run, which manifests in dimming and incomplete coloring of some of the LEDs.The WLED firmware that comes pre-flashed on these controllers is really nice as it does not require an account or login in any way. These can be used fully offline, you don't even have to connect them to your network as they broadcast their own access point by which you can connect and configure them, though connecting them to your network makes management much easier. I understand there are mobile apps, though at this point I have only used the web UI and the command line.There are numerous presets to choose from, and with this controller I explored the microphone option; looking back, most of the controllers I have support the mic function, though I had never thought twice about it before. It did take a small amount of configuring to get the mic to work, but it certainly does work and adds some dynamism to the LEDs. I found 24 mic-enabled presets as indicated by the '♫' or the '♪' in the preset names in the WLED web UI. The instructions that came with the controller walked through how to set up and enable the microphone, and following those steps worked for me. My added video shows my garage with a string of LEDs all around the perimeter at the top of the wall. The controller's mic is picking up the sound of me punching a punching bag.Another nice thing about these controllers is that they support 5V, 12V and 24V LEDs, though only one voltage at a time, and the power supply and the LED voltages in use must match. This improves interchangeability as you can try several different power supplies and LEDs with the same controller, and there is no need to convert voltages yourself. For $27 this is a fine price for a controller with two ARGB data lines.
