Well, this is much bigger than I expected! I put it next to a B&BW 3 wick candle for a size reference because I underestimated how large this drain cover would be. I got this for the drain at the bottom of our outdoor steps since we get a ton of leaves accumulating there in the fall. I wanted something that would keep the leaves from becoming a giant clog without making it difficult to access the drain.This is super easy to use…just put the pin in, place it over the drain, and you’re done. It fits well, stays in place, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Nothing complicated, which is always a plus. Simple, easy, cost efficient, and effective. You really can’t beat that!

I have a 6" french drain and have a common problem with leaves and debris blocking it during heavy rains. I was looking for a solution to this problem and found this drain cover on Amazon. It fits perfectly over my french drain.It comes with 2 lower guide pins. You only need to install one of then and it helps center the cover over the existing drain opening and reduces unwanted movement caused by flowing water, wind or surrounding debris. I placed it directly over the drain for more stable. You do not need any tools to install this. The drain cover has some weight and along with the guide pin stays stable. The raised slotted structure creates a protective barrier around the drain, filtering common outdoor debris while providing multiple openings for rainwater to pass through. The elevated design helps maintain drainage even when debris begins to collect around the outside. The tapered sides are designed to keep leaves, grass, and other yard debris from collecting directly over the drain opening. By helping the drain remain open and functional, it reduces the risk of slow drainage, standing water and rainwater buildup around basement entrances.The drain is gray in color and blends beautifully with my brick and concrete.While it is good with the intended functionality , on the pricing side I do believe that at $30 this is a bit expensive for a cover that is made of plastic and hence I have deducted one star from the product. I believe this should be in 1/2 that price range to match similar drains available from other suppliers on Amazon.

After having a patio built a couple of years ago, I learned the hard way how important it is to keep drains clear of leaves and yard debris. So I was excited to try this drain cover, especially with fall approaching.Installation couldn't have been easier. It took me less than a minute to install, and I didn't need any tools. That's a big win in my book!I do have two concerns. First, the cover is fairly large and chunky. Second, my drain happens to be directly in the walking path from my back door to the backyard, so I'm a little concerned about catching my foot on it and tripping.That said, I think the benefit of keeping leaves and debris out of the drain outweighs the drawback, particularly during the fall when my yard is covered in leaves. I'll be keeping it in place and seeing how it performs once the leaves start coming down.It's easy to install and does exactly what I need it to do. I'm just hoping it keeps the leaves out without becoming a tripping hazard.Until I fall. 🤔

Well, as someone who lives in a house but has little home improvement or maintenance knowledge, there's a lot of mess ups and issues, including my uncleaned basement stairwell drain.Two basement floods later, I see this drain protector thing available and I had to get it.This is plastic, however it seems heavy duty and quality material/build. It's still summer, so let's see how this survives through the Fall and how much leaf and dirt blockage it provides. Who knows how long it will last, especially under UV sun and heat, or a freezing cold winter, but a plastic protector thing is cheaper and easier than having to clean out a drain yourself, or pay someone routinely.This literally sets up in seconds, and should fit anything with a center drain hole/slot.If your drain cover is in an exposed area and think it might blow away, If you wanted extra security, try some zip ties to secure it to your drain cover.And maybe if you live in seasonal hot/cold climate, remove this when it isn’t as necessary so it’ll last Longer.

The design is simple but effective. The openings are large enough to maintain good water flow during rain while still trapping leaves, bark, and other debris that would otherwise end up clogging the drain.One feature I appreciate is the center guide pin. It makes installation quick and helps keep the cover properly positioned. Routine maintenance is easy since I can remove most debris from the top without taking the cover off, but when a deeper cleaning is needed, the cover lifts out easily.My only complaint is that my drain is 14 inches in diameter, and Avanhitch does not currently offer a 14-inch version. I worked around this by placing river rock around the cover, which solved the issue, but a larger size would be nice.
