This is really good wide tape, and I’ve found the 6-inch width makes it useful for a lot more than normal masking or painter’s tape. It works especially well as a quick patching material because one strip can cover a pretty large area without having to overlap a bunch of narrower pieces.The adhesive is a nice balance. It feels tackier and grabs surfaces better than basic plastic packing tape in a lot of situations, but it still peels back up when you need to remove or reposition it. That makes it useful for temporary repairs or covering something where I don’t necessarily want a super-permanent adhesive left behind.It’s also easy to work with because you can rip it by hand, even at this width. I saw this and was not exactly sure what to make of it, but it seems like most any type of tape, there is a special use for it, one way or another, and this is is the exception. It's not like duct tape or anything - more, if you can imagine just the old standard masking tape, that was always like one inch, light brown colored? This is more like that type of tape, except it is three inches wide and it's black. It will come in handy for the right reasons around the house, aside from the laser 3-D reasons.

I have been looking for wide painters tape. This tape is wide enough that you can cut it with scissors and get twice as much for your money. When I do interior trim, I tend to be a little bit messy with the brush or roller. This eliminates the possibility of my paint going where I don’t want it to. It peels off easily after the paint dries. Also, my grandson and I build cardboard projects together, and this is an ideal adhesive tape for that purpose.

Extra-wide masking tape, suitable for niche applications. Not suitable for joining multiple surfaces (we were thinking of ground floor protection for a newer rehab) given the color and limited 30yd size. Not suitable for large scale paint applications (drywall/trim). The thickness and quality make it better for niche painting, whether it's auto detailing or a weekend furniture project. Otherwise because the tackiness and thickness make it fairly durable, you can consider using it as a labeling mechanism if you pair it with a white marking pen.
