Great replacement for my craftsmen 6 gal vacuum

I've had a Craftsman Shopvac for many years now. Probably almost 15 or so years at this point. It has a detachable motor that can be used as a plug-in leaf blower. And, at some point it became exclusively that, as I lost the little nut that secures the filter. So I used it solely as a leaf blower for like 7 years now. Pure laziness, I know. I could have ordered a replacement part, but I just didn't care enough.So, this popped up and I saw it came with a screw on piece to secure the filter. The OEM ones did not back in the day, so I was hopeful I could finally get my vacuum back in shape, especially seeing as I now have a battery powered leaf blower that is far more convenient. Well, this filter did exactly that. Perfect fit for my ancient vacuum, and the cap allowed me to secure it in. I cleaned my vacuum thoroughly, given I haven't done so in some time, and got to town.I obviously don't have a lab to test the filter, but as a consumer it works just fine. No notable dust coming through the exhaust, good air throughput even with the filter, and no noises or anything unexpected At $16 (as of August 2026) it is a great deal for a filter.

Filter is ok but the cleaning brush was not included as advertised. Don’t like it when things are not as advertised.

The one I received did not have a brush with it. Other than that, it works good.

This 17816 Replacement Filter was a perfect replacement for my Craftsman 6 gallon Shop Vac. I had waited way too long to replace the previous filter in my shop vac, so this was a welcome replacement. This filter is the exact size and config as the OEM filter I removed, down to the rubber and plastic on each end, the red strip around the middle and the width of the pleats on the filtering media. The plastic screw on retaining nut fit over the middle to keep this filter attached to my shop vac, so no complaints on fitment. I'm not sure if the OEM filter was washable, but the fact that this filter is washable will help with longevity. I haven't had the need to wash, dry and replace it in the shop vac, so I'll test that later.
