This is a nice inexpensive circuit breaker for protecting a solar setup. It is well made and works very nicely for adding protection and a disconnect between the batteries and the rest of the system. I like that it is a 2 pole breaker so it can disconnect both sides of the circuit. It was easy to install and feels like a good quality unit for the price. Overall, this is a good inexpensive option for a solar or battery system.

This 2P (pole) 100 Amp DC Breaker is perfect for a small solar subsystem with a 1000 watt inverter. At full draw, with some system inefficiencies, 98A would be the calculated draw at full load. Normally, you would run about 80% with short duration at max wattage. Shown here with 2AWG and 4AWG cables attached to the breaker. You always want the lugs to lay flat, this required a little shaving, about 1/64" so it would lay flat when tightened down, if not, you raise the resistance of the connection and heating will occur on the terminals. The kit includes instruction manual, electricians tape, Allen wrench for terminals, bolts to fasten down the breaker and two insulation shields that you can see in the pictures with the wires attached to the breaker. The unit is well made and will easily handle the loads it was designed for. One of the pictures shows the difference of the lug sizes bases on the wire size for comparison. 73 de KE8GKO!
