I got this privacy doorknob to replace a cheap and failing Kwikset bedroom door knob that we had previously gotten from Walmart. This new doorknob is certainly more aesthetically pleasing compared to the old door knob we had and it’s clearly better quality and more sturdy as well! It turns and unlocks smoothly, and is noticeably better than what we had before. It uses the basic little switch to lock and unlock: for this particular doorknob, having the switch turned vertical mean that the knob is unlocked, and trying the switch to the horizontal orientation is how you lock the door. And from the hallway, you can easily undo the lock by using a small flathead screwdriver of the little unlock pick that it came with. The lock switch orientation (vertical being open, horizontal being locked) is the inverse orientation than our previous doorknob, and I couldn’t find away to alter this setting for my own sense of familiarity/preference, and in the end it will take some getting used to, but it’s not a deal breaker. Another thing that I really like about this new doorknob knob is that the mounting/assembly screws are placed on the side with the lock switch, and not on the external handle that faces the hallway anyone could access it. The Biggest Drawback for me Personally was that the doorknob had not been as easy to install as it should have been. The cylinder with the door catch mechanism would not initially fit through the pre-drilled hole of my door - the rectangular part where the mounting brackets and the middle part have to go through to connect the two parts together was maybe a millimeter or two too tall/ long to fit through. I ended up using a carpenter wood file to carve out a channel both on top of and on the bottom of the existing circle in the wood, even needing to make notches/corners for the rectangular gage/mechanism to fit through! Took twenty minutes of filing away, and I cut myself but once that was done, the rest of the assembly was easy!While I’m happy overall with this new door knob, since it’s better quality than the cheapest doorknob from Walmart- Buyers May Need to take into consideration that center mechanism may not fit through the precut hole in their door!!

I used this as a replacement door knob. It took about 10 minutes for me to replace my old door knob with this one, so installation was a breeze. The only very minor warning is that the screws are somewhat difficult to access around the knob, so you have to leave the knob out and work it in with the screw in order to make it work. I did not use the directions because I have replaced a lot of doorknobs lately and didn't need them, but a quick look at them showed them maybe a little low on details. It does come with a template, which is nice if you are using this as a new door knob versus a replacement. The appearance is smooth and classic, and it feels very good in the hand when closing/opening the door. The turn friction is perfect, and the door clicks shut with a satisfying click. This seems like a well made knob that will be as durable as any other knob for a very reasonable price.

I changed out my garage door knobs for these matte black door knobs. Super easy to install and I think they look handsome. Took me about 5 minutes. The knobs have a nice feel in the hand. Substantial.They do scratch. I noticed a mark that I made while using the power drill. So be careful when installing. They are stainless steel but maybe powder coated?I got the passage door knobs and I find them very smooth. They feel expensive.Good value for only $20. Let's see how they hold up in the winter.

And by dummy I mean this door knob.The marketing material gives the illusion—can I say illusion—that for $20 you’re going to get a pass-through knob that turns and opens a door but has no lock. Why they call it the dummy? Probably because it does nothing else. But then you have the passage lock. The passage lock actually turns, where the dummy does… the dummy is just there for looks and aesthetics. You don’t even need hinges.And if you’re not careful you’re going to pay the exact same amount of money for a dummy lock for $20 as you would a passage lock and a privacy lock, which would lock on one end—which would be perfect for a bedroom just to lock yourself in there for the day.Now I am looking at a lot of options here because I need these for my house. If they’re not the oil-rubbed bronze that I prefer… I don’t remember what the handles of the doors look like in my home. That’s my problem.Your problem is: is this a good deal? Well, if you buy a 10-pack of interior doorknobs for $96 it’s a little less than $10 each. That’s a fair price if you consider it’s being delivered right to your door. You don’t have to go get it at some big box store and search for it for half an hour.However, the listing also offers (and I got dummied) this dummy lock for $20. I don’t mind telling you it’s not a good deal, because the dummy lock doesn’t even have the internal mechanisms to turn a door or a lock that you need. Don’t buy the single option—just the dummy knob.For the other multi options, well you might as well buy at least two. Then this is priced right. Everything else is good. As someone who does this for a living as a contractor I can tell you when prices are good and when they’re terrible. Just be careful what you click from the many options to order here.

This is a nice door knob. It came with everything you need to install minus the tools. It's a nice matte black. I like that it gives you instructions and a template plus two extra "keys." I got the privacy kind that locks but doesn't use a key they take the little pokey thing (technical term I believe.) If I had to be super picky there was a TINY chipped area on the part that sits on the door but again it's pretty tiny and for someone who is fairly picky it doesn't bother me at all. So far 5 stars.

We had one door in the house where a privacy lock was installed during renovation and it has become frustrating that it frequently gets locked when we don't want it that way so I decided to change it out to a passage lock and was pleased when I found this on Amazon. The black finish matches the rest of the hardware in my house and the quality and price are on par with what you get at a big box store but sawed the trip to the store with free Prime delivery. Install was simple, just popping off the old handle and removing the screws and then doing the reverse to put the new one in. I just kept the same bolt and strike since they were compatible but if you need new all the parts are included. If you need to put this into a new door slab, the template is in included but you will need your own hole saw, bits and chisel to but and mortise this. I you are putting in an existing door like I was it was easy peasy.
