- Air Sensor Technology: The air sensor built in machine displays the air pressure on the front panel of the machine. Users can adjust the air pressure manually through the air regulator (air pressure cannot be automatically adjusted). An air filter is installed at the back of the machine, equipped with a quick-connect 1/4 NPT air connector, ready for use right out of the box. Once connected to an air compressor, the recommended air pressure should be within 70 PSI, with a flow rate of 250 liters per minute.(Note: Purchase the air compressor separately)

This being my first experience with a plasma cutter and having little to no idea what I was doing, I wasn't quite sure how to write this review. The instructions are decent, but honestly looking up videos online was the way I went and it worked out well. It seems to cut better than I expected, and while I haven't tried cutting anything to the max thickness yet, I feel confident that it can manage. This beats an angle grinder any day, and I think for the price it's a must have addition to your tool kit.

I couldn't be happier with this plasma cutter! The SILATU STC550P was easy to set up, and the dual-voltage (110V/220V) option makes it incredibly convenient. The digital display is clear and easy to adjust, even for someone who is still learning.The pilot arc feature is a huge advantage because it cuts through painted, rusty, and even expanded metal mesh without constantly losing the arc. It produces smooth, clean cuts with very little cleanup afterward. I've used it on mild steel for several DIY projects, and it has handled everything I've thrown at it with consistent performance.For beginners, this is a fantastic machine because it's straightforward to operate, but it also has enough features and power to satisfy more experienced users. Considering the performance, features, and price, I think it offers outstanding value.If you're looking for a reliable plasma cutter for home projects, fabrication, repairs, or hobby work, I would definitely recommend the SILATU STC550P. It's exceeded my expectations and has made cutting metal faster, cleaner, and much easier.

Oh yeah, I'm probably going to get some angry side-eye for this, but I ordered this Silatu 55A Plasma Cutter to replace my Thermal Dynamics Cut Master 35 (TDCM) plasma cutter. Yes, the Cut Master is commercial and bullet proof, but for what little cutting I do, I wanted the modern conveniences offered by an IGBT solid state plasma cutter.Right off the bat, the first feature I zeroed in on was the ability to control the air from the front, instead of digging around the back side of my welding cart for the analog pressure regulator. The adjustment is right up front where it should be, has digital readout for getting a precise setting, and most importantly, I can confirm the value by pressing the A/C button.I am blown away with how easy this is to set up and begin cutting. But that's exactly why I was interested in this over my existing cutter. Even though my TDCM says it has a pilot arc, it still won't strike an arc without metal within proper range. The Silatu cutter will strike an arc in mid air, and that plasma arc is at least an inch long.As testament to just how easy this is, I accidentally started making a short cut in a steel tube before I realized than it was no longer grounded. My previous cut had separated the grounding clamp from this stub tube, and I was cutting using only the pilot arc. Oops, you don't want to do that very often, but I was amazed when it did. (No, I was not on a steel table—it was ungrounded.)At first I was concerned that the consumables would be proprietary and difficult to source, but with a quick search on Amazon, I see that these nozzles and electrodes are very common for multiple brands. So that's a huge relief.The torch feels solid in my hand, and easy to guide into position. I normally hate any type of trigger safeties, but this one is simple and basic that I actually like it. It is simply a hinged cover over the trigger, and once your hand is on the grip, you don't even know it's there.My TDCM cutter is on a cart because it is too bulky and heavy to move otherwise. I really appreciate how much lighter and compact this cutter is in comparison. This one is easier to just pick up and move, than it is to roll my big welding cart around.

This plasma cutter was selected to potentially cut small sheets of steel and increase our capabilities to work with metal in a creative space. The machine has some nice features with the pilot arc, built-in regulator, and integrated quick-connect air nipple in the back. We are the consummate beginners with this technology, but are avid learners. Know upfront that you must have an outside source for compressed air. The circuit that you plug into must be capable of supporting the requested draw from the machine, or a circuit breaker will pop. Standard home wall circuits are on 15-amp breakers. But some circuits, like your dryer, may be on a 30 or 40-amp breaker. Note that the circuit breaker senses all the loads on that circuit, so if your compressor is on the same circuit that the cutter is on, that load will be added together for a trip condition. Note that breathing the fumes from the cutting process can affect your health, so good ventilation is needed. This machine is nice and lightweight at about 13 pounds; the provided cables are substantial and 10 feet in length. The AG60p cutting head has many sources for consumables and is ergonomic even with gloves on. When you turn on the machine, if you have not connected an air source, you will receive an E5 error code until air pressure is applied. I suggest you explore the brand's HTML pages on Amazon in the “from the brand” section for lots of important details. The air pressure regulator on the machine front has a lock-out on it and must be pulled towards you to release it so you can adjust the air pressure, then snapped back in to prevent accidentally changing it. In our video, we cut an old rusty flat 1/8 in thick piece of steel with a sticker on it to see if the pilot arc worked, and it had no issue with either condition. Using a welding helmet, my assistant had some difficulty visually aligning the cut, so a guide may be of value. His first attempt was too fast across the metal, but interestingly, the arc scored the metal nicely, which might be of value to know for metal sculpting. The second attempt was slower, and his hand moved cutting short zig-zags in the metal. That showed that the arc could cut metal fairly precisely in the right hands. The third attempt got close to the “goldilocks” zone both in speed and settings. We had the machine on a 15amp circuit outside for fumes and sparks. Note, be aware that the spark stream can change direction based on the speed of the cut. I warned the assistant, who could not see the stream, that he needed to change his position as the stream was aimed towards his clothing. When the compressor kicked on during the last cut, the load was too high, and the house breaker popped. We will be looking on Amazon for an 8 awg extension for our 220-volt socket, which meets the power requirements.Add-on uses: Cut out rusted panels on equipment, cut exhaust tubing, modify old tractor brackets, demolish scrap, cut expanded metal for grills, and metal yard art.Opinion: The learning curve is steep at first, but the machine and accessories are of good quality for this price point. The portability and power of cutting thin sheet goods like we want to do make this the ideal beginner's and DIY tool.

This is a great plasma cutter! I have been wanting to have one of these for awhile. I occasionally need to cut a piece of metal and this will do that job nicely.The machine itself is very nice. It contains a built in air pressure regulator as well as an adjustment for the cutting currrent. It has several features such as "push on" "push off" cutting which allows you to turn the cutter on by pressing the handle button and then you can release the button and the cutter stays on. It will then stop the next time you push the button. It can also turn on the cutter only while you are holding the button. It has adjustable power off airflow and most importantly it has a pilot arc that starts the arc before you are in contact with the metal.The cables are very nice. The handle is well built and sturdy. The ground clamp is also of high quality. A 120V adapter cable is included which allows you to cut up to 1/4" steel using only 120V power. My 5hp, 27gal compressor was more than enough for this cutter. Two sets of replacment tips and air hose fittings are also included.I don't have any real experience using plasma cutters, so I asked my friend who has a Miller plasma cutter to come over and test it out for me. He was thoroughly impressed with the cut quality of this machine. See the pictures for a sample cut. It did cut a 1/4" piece of steel very smoothly on 120V. We did trip the 20A 120V circuit breaker in my garage several times until we lowered the current setting enough. If you were going to use this often, I would probably recommend a 220V connection, but 120V definitely did the job on 1/4".I only have 2 small negatives: 1) The red plastic nut on the front panel that holds the pressure requlator in was unscrewed when I opened the package. I tightened it back up and everything was fine. Probably came loose in shipping 2) The small silver connector for the handle control leads is lacking strain relief for the leads and I feel like this will ultimately probably lead to the wires breaking. I am going to remove the connector clamp and add a few layers of electrical tape to give this wire a bit of strain relief.Overall, this is a great machine for the price. A great value! It works well and I definitely recommend it.

BLUF: Excellent build quality, fully featured machine. About 30% short on amps.Now the details:1. The machine arrived well packed with foam.2. The included accessories are a mixed lot. The ground clamp is the same simple stamped steel unit that comes most Chinese machines. Usable, but nothing great. There is an unless air hose included, but the machine has a standard IM air fitting already installed. The 240 to 120v adapter seems of good quality. The best part is the included torch. It is very good quality and well made (much better than the arccaptain torch pictured, that cost almost twice as much). The fitting is insulated, the hose is thick rubber, the pilot arc wire is thick. The torch is AG60 compatible, so consumables are inexpensive and readily available.3. The plasma cutter itself is also impressively well made. The display is clear, bright and controls are easy to use. The machine has all the important settings like a grid mode, 4T, adjustable pre and post flow and an air check button.My favorite part is the regulator, it is right up front and solidly mounted, unlike every other machine I have used. The fitting on the back is a standard IM air fitting also very commonly used.4. The machine is dual voltage, but on 120VAC it is easy to trip breakers. I tried it on max power to cut 1/2" steel and got about a 1/2" cut before tripping a 20A dedicated braker. On 240VAC the machine works perfectly. I was able to cut through 14mm plate (about 9/16") but quite slowly. This will cut anything under 1/2" very easily.5. I checked the power output and compared it to the arccaptain Cut55MP. I included the video of one of the tests. I was only able to get 39A or so out of the machine when maxed out. Under the same conditions the arccaptain got to 52A, so I know its not the testing method at fault. I even used the same ground clamp, test piece of steel, same meter and same 240VAC outlet.Overall, I was very impressed with the build quality, especially compared to the Arccaptain that cost almost twice as much. This would be a 5 star product if it met it's power output claim, because besides that the machine is excellent.
