The base is secured with a STRONG tape, I use these in my charging station i have in garage, and these stick to the shelf edge and even in the high heat of my garage this summer adhesion was not an issue. it looks great and keep my cables looking organized and tidy.

Iwas looking for something to organize and access cords easily. These stick well but, only hold 1 "thick cord." I also find that if you have a hard rubber cord, it Snaps open when you tried to pull to use. I LOVE the 360 rotation! Overall, it's a good product and getting 12 in a pack. I'd recommend trying.
