The stair stringer hanger brackets have a sturdy steel construction and feel appropriate for deck and stair framing projects. The black powder-coated finish gives them a clean appearance and should help protect the metal from rust and corrosion when used in outdoor conditions. The brackets feel solid and substantial without being unnecessarily bulky.Installation is fairly straightforward with the appropriate fasteners and framing setup. The adjustable design is useful for working with different stair stringer angles, and the ability to install them on the left, right, or inside of a joist provides some flexibility during a project. They are designed to work with 2x10 and 2x12 stringers, which makes them convenient for common deck stair construction. The brackets have a simple, professional appearance and are easy to position before securing them in place. Having four pieces in the package is convenient for a typical stair project and provides a consistent way to support multiple stringers. For the price, the 4-pack provides good value if you are building or repairing deck stairs and need adjustable stringer supports. They seem like a practical alternative to more complicated framing methods, just make sure the brackets are installed with appropriate structural fasteners and that the framing and load requirements of your particular project are properly supported.

Attractive, but poor value.

Review of: 4 Pcs Adjustable Stair Stringer Hanger Brackets,18 Gauge Stair StringerSynopsis: Nothing special. Powder coating not worth the additional cost. Priced at $14.99 on 8/12/26 these brackets are expensive and a poor value compared to common zinc stringer hangers.Pros: Measured dimensions are as advertised in product description. The powder coated finish is a nice matte black, with no burrs or blemishes in coating and promises good corrosion resistance and durability.Cons: Other than appearance, these are no different than any run of the mill 18-gauge $2.00/ea zinc stringer hangers. A very poor value, especially when you consider that most of the bracket is concealed once installed. No mounting hardware was included with the hangers, which at this price point is kind of expected. The AI provided photos in the product description are very misleading, making the hangers look much larger and more robust than they are in reality. Very disappointed. A fair price point for this package of 4 brackets is closer to $8-$10.00.Conclusion: Poor value for nicely finished, but otherwise common stringer hangers. I would avoid at this price point. 3-Stars for falling below my expectations.

Great for small staircases.

[Color: Black, Number of Items: 4]
My Thoughts: I have had a set of stairs leading off my deck for the past 20 years and have never gotten around to securing them. Mostly because at the beginning they appeared to be attached but recently I have felt them wobbling. I was going to use some wood blocks to attach them but had not done it yet. That was going to be one of my projects for this year. But hey, my project turned out much easier because of these. I would like to say that these are not heavy duty. They are a much smaller gauge than I would prefer but for a small amount of steps, they definitely get the job done.Quality: These are a solid set of stringer brackets but at 18 gauge, I don’t believe they are meant for a long set of stairs. I am using them for 2 steps down and would probably only recommend them for a small amount.Stability: Once attached, these things aren’t going anywhere. They are very stable and if you put your nails in each hole, as is normal code, they will be very stable.Durability: I like the fact that these are powder coated. It will make them last much longer and not rust. For an 18 gauge product, I would give them a 5 star. IF and only IF they are used for small staircases.

Functional Stair Stringer Hangar Brackets in a 4 packFunctional Stair Stringer Hangar Brackets in...

When I opened the brackets they were shorter than I was expecting based on the listing photos. For most projects the 4 pack will not be enough, go with at least the 8 pack, plus it's a much better value on a per piece basis. The gauge of the metal was lighter than I was expecting, but that is the trade off to allow for the bend. I will end up using these to stabilize and add extra support to existing stairs versus new construction. They do suit the intended purpose, but are not quite what I needed or was expecting to receive. I guess it would all depend on your particular application or intended use. I did feel compelled to knock one star off the rating based on my overall impression of the product.

Can't argue with well finished heavier gauge hangers for half my local price.

[Color: Black, Number of Items: 4]
These hangers are listed as being 18 gauge, but they actually mic out to be fully 17 gauge. That may be due to their powder coat (which is all very well applied and finished), but regardless of that, they are an almost otherwise identical clone of what I would normally buy from my local orange box store. My commercial account at said establishment supposedly gets me some sort of price consideration, although I can't recall ever being particularly blown away by any claimed savings, and these are no exception. The standard on their shelf only varies in that the hole pattern is slightly skewed, but then there's the price...My best local price, from said orange box, is for the Simpson Strong-Tie version of this product, and my commercially discounted price there is eighteen and a half dollars, for four. When I first looked at the ad for these I was immediately struck by the implied savings, since it read as " 8 Pcs Adjustable Stair Stringer Hanger Brackets,18 Gauge Stair Stringer" with a selling price of twenty bucks, so twice as many for only a buck and a half more, I thought. What I received, and this may just be a Vine related thing, was four items, at a value of fifteen bucks? I dunno, just make sure that if you order eight, that you get eight, because that's the way they appear in the ad right now, and at that price they are a very good value for the money that should perform just as well, if not better, than the big box offerings at twice the price.

8-piece stair stringer brackets are excellent8-piece stair stringer brackets are excellent

I'm needing to replace one set of stairs and make another for my deck, so I thought that these could help. The listing said I'd get eight, but only four were in the box. I initially mistook what they are, but now I get the idea. They are support brackets that provide a lot more structural support to the wood pieces of a 2" x 10" or 2" x 12" staircase than screws alone. Mounted to the stringers and stairs. They are heavily powder coated for durability outdoors and at 1.2 mm thick, they are easy to bend, but certainly not flimsy. In fact, they have added notches in several of the normal bend places to make bending them correctly easier. And they are loaded with screw holes for serious mounting to all wood parts they rest on. I can honestly see these extending the life of a wooden outdoor staircase by quite a lot, while providing a measurable increased level of safety while doing it. I think these will be the difference between a standard, mediocre staircase to one made with real craftsmanship. But four is hardly going to do the job, so I'll need more. They also sell 16 packs. Good value for eight. Not so much for four.

Strong, Sturdy, and Easy to InstallI recommend these 8 Pcs Adjustable Stair Stringer Hanger Brackets for anyone working on a deck, staircase, or other DIY structural project. I purchased them for a stair project and was impressed with how solid and well-made they feel. The brackets are made from 18-gauge steel with a black powder-coated finish that provides good protection against rust and corrosion. They feel substantial and designed to provide a secure connection between the stair stringers and supporting structure.I especially like the adjustable design, which allows for installation on the left, right, or inside of the joist and accommodates different stringer angles. That flexibility makes these much more useful than a one-size-fits-all bracket.Installation was straightforward, and I appreciated that they don’t require complicated framing or specialized nails. The black finish also gives the hardware a clean, professional appearance once installed. For the quality, adjustability, and ease of installation, these are a solid choice for DIY deck and stair projects. I recommend them.
