This bracket is great quality, although I’m not sure if it’s worth the price tag. It seems very sturdy, and it comes out far enough that you can use it for a wider railing. If you have older stairs like I do that are far steeper than what code is nowadays, there is also a lot of leeway to adjust the angle. It comes with all mounting screws and anchors, so installation is pretty straightforward, although if you use it for a narrower railing, I would mount it to that first before mounting it to the wall.

I ordered this single bracket by mistake. Not long ago I ordered from Amazon a set of three nice brass staircase brackets at a total cost of $10. I installed them, and they look good, but I thought these might be an upgrade, or that I could use them elsewhere.When I ordered I assumed that the $26 price was for multiple brackets. That information wasn't hidden ‒ different prices are shown for a 3-pack and a 5-pack. My careless erroneous assumption was just based on the high price. No one needs just a single handrail bracket.Oddly, as I write this there is now a review by another Vine reviewer, who like me got just one bracket. That reviewer inexplicably wrote a very positive review based on his or her "straightforward" installation of "the brackets [that] provided excellent support for my handrail." Really?The quality of the bracket looks fine to me, but I've no idea how I can anywhere use a single bracket.

I ordered this bracket for something totally different from its intended use. I needed a small bracket that I could make a shelf for my portable speaker in my garage. The bracket would have to be small because I had a very small mounting surface. This bracket looked like it might work. The base of the bracket is small, and it fits like a glove between the window trim and an electrical outlet. I screwed a small piece of wood onto the bracket and it worked great for holding the speaker. The one thing I would note is that it’s very hard to tighten the pivot bolt on the bracket. I had to tighten it twice as it seemed to loosen. I realize this may not be an issue if it’s being used to mount a handrail, but I would recommend putting blue threadlocker on the threads of the pivot screw just to be sure. I really like this bracket!
