This wood sealer is fantastic for outdoor or indoor surfaces. It is very easy to apply and is very affordable when compared to the polyurethane finishes sold at B&M Home Centers.Application is straightforward. A good-quality brush or roller with a heavy nap will make application very simple. Clean up with mineral spirits. I would suggest a light sanding and wipe down with mineral spirits on a final coat.This will keep your deck, furniture, or outdoor wooden pieces safe from water and the elements. It's durable enough, with two or three coats, to stand up to several years of abuse and can be recoated if scuffed up with 300-400 grit paprt.The plastic container is better than metal because it's easy to seal and won't rust. Plus, it will keep the light out, ensuring it stays fresh.A great product to protect your outdoor investments!

Though it took awhile to arrive, my first test of YKF's wood sealer was a success. The polyurethane finish goes on smoothly and, even using a brush to apply, smooths out on my wood surfaces so there are no visible brush strokes. Of course if you like the brush stroked look, you could go over the finish a few minutes after applying as it becomes a little sticky.I like that there's no discernible underlying color to the sealer; it simply enhances the look of the wood or stain underneath. The satin texture is beautiful and is far an away my favorite finish on wood as it really shows off the grain.

It was so soft that you could make an impression with a finger nail. So we decided to varnish it and were looking for something long lasting with a clear finish. This outdoor sealer was perfection.It’s easy to apply and takes a solid 24 hours to cure, and it’s definitely best used outside. There’s plenty of it so it’s no worries needing to apply extra coats. It brushed on smooth, clear and streak free. Doesn’t alter the color of the wood at all. It truly waterproof.For such a large jug of high quality wood sealer, it’s priced very fairly. Even though this will last me a long while, I’m definitely going to be purchasing again when needed.

Only time will tell now if this product is really good or not. What I can say now is I have a number of wooden things that need sealing. One is a vending building I made from old barn wood from wood on my property. Needless to say, this building is very sentimental as there is no more wood to replace with. The counter is a very old wood timber from a bridge nearby that was torn down. I started sealing with this counter to test it out. The sealer goes on pretty smoothly and isn't too thin as many are. This wood is old and does tend to soak up sealer. It did cover well, but decided to apply a second coat the next day. The second coat took much less leaving me feeling it did take that second coat to really seal it for a good while. I've moved around to doing the door and that ledge with the same results. It's rained some here lately and the water does run off so I would say for now this is a good product. There is a little odor with it, but being outside isn't a problem at all. I saw some other reviews that mentioned a brush and cloth but nothing came with my gallon but sealer. So, for now I am planning to use it as far as it will go on the wall where the door is and see how much it covers. Then it's a waiting game how long it does it's job, but for now no complaints.

I ordered the YKF Clear Wood Sealer Outdoor, 1 Gallon Water-Based Polyurethane Wood Finish, Satin Color Enhancer.I specifically ordered this for a few projects that I needed outside. I have a natural carved wood feature that is out in the elements, and I wanted to preserve part of it with this. I also have an old, unused swing set that I transformed into a focal point of the yard. I use double stick tape to fix items to it, but the tape doesn't work well on unfinished wood in a cold and rainy climate. So, I wanted to use this on the areas that I would be fixing items to.This is a big jug so this should last me a long time unless I decide to use it for a bigger art project. Mine included a brush and a set of plastic gloves, and that is appreciated since I used the brush for my project.I applied it on a sunny day without a bunch of wind, and it dried within a day. I was surprised how much lighter the wood was as it was several shades lighter. The wood area on the swing set sort of looks water damaged and dark. Just one coat on it makes the weathered darkness go away, and it now matches the other sides that don't look weathered. The same happened on the other piece of wood that I applied it to where it was much lighter. It doesn't look like a stain, it just looks revitalized. It's definitely a good option if you want to refresh some old wood. Both of the woods I was working with were sort of a gray color, so I'm not sure what this would look like with other colored woods.Overall, I don't have any complaints since I achieved my goal and have more than enough for another project, thank you.

I ordered this clear satin sealer for an outdoor wood tabletop my husband and I built. I chose this one because I wanted to protect the wood without yellowing, that would mask some of the natural grain. The tabletop is made from 6” blue stain pine shiplap (aka beetle kill pine), that I painstakingly selected from different Home Depot’s with the beautiful grey variations I wanted.I wanted a poly that would enhance the grain and would bring out the color while adding a layer of protection. The satin finish ended up being exactly what I was hoping for, it gives the wood a richer appearance without looking overly glossy.I applied it with a brush and rag and found it easy to spread into an even coat. I also like that it’s water-based since cleanup was much easier than with oil-based products. Once dry, the finish looked smooth and let the character of the wood show through. I’m thrilled my table is now waterproof. We use a table cover on it when we won’t be using it for an extended period or have inclement weather, but this sealer gives me extra peace of mind on our DIY heirloom piece.The gallon size was plenty for this project. I had plenty enough left over for a future project (4x4 covered patio legs).

This is modern translucent varnish. Like old-school colored, varnish this protects and preserves your wood from rain. Unlike old-school varnish this truly waterproofs your deck, fence, walls wherever you wish to have a translucent finish. You need to apply it on a dry day, preferably warm with no falling leaves because it takes 24 hours to dry completely.It is better to apply two thin coats on two days than one thick coat. You can apply just one coat, though then expect to redo it sooner. Unlike old-school varnish that last 2-5 years depending on how wet your weather is, this should last at least 5 years but likely less than 10 years even in wet environments. The wear and tear of foot traffic rather than the weather is the factor that determines how frequently you need to redo the varnish. Of course, if you use contemporary pressure treated wood your varnish is more cosmetic than sealant. If you are coating pressure treated wood and use this you would not need to varnish again for at least a decade.This is a great product to preserve and beautify your wood by making it water-proof. I used it on our deck. Works great, just be sure to let it cure for at least 24 hours. Covers 200 square feet, basically a deck's worth.
