I’m getting ready to finish the interior of a new garage, and I’m gonna be using a combination of OSB and sheet rock to cover the walls. I saw this set that sells for $18 and another set that sells for $19 and I decided to get both of them to try them out and see which one worked the best. I didn’t really anticipate that these would work very well in OSB, but I had hopes… Didn’t work out very well, but at least it’ll mark an opening in the OSB, and maybe that will save a little time. Neither one of the sets that I purchased to test worked very well in OSB, they would make a mark that would allow you to quickly mark the shape of the box to cut it out with another tool, but there’s just not enough movement in all the right directions to be able to effectively cut through OSB.This set worked the best of the two that I tested. The saw teeth are sharp and varied in length. They cut pretty aggressively in sheet rock.The short testing that I did, this set seemed to work pretty well. I’m not sure if the problem is in the inexpensive, oscillating multitool that I was using it on or if it was the tool… But the cutter vibrates quite a bit on the tool and is pretty noisy. I would suggest using hearing protection when you’re using these things because it gets quite loud. The box cutter is welded on the corners and so far all of the welds have held together just fine. I think one of the design flaws in both sets that I purchased is that the smaller, single gang box cutter does not have an arch in the top and bottom set of saw teeth so you have to get the side walls cut in pretty deep before the top and bottom ever touches the material and then it’s hard to get the top and bottom to cut. I think it would work a lot better if they made the top and bottom arched like they do on the larger square box cutter… So that the top and bottom would start contacting the material at the same time as the sides. That would make it easier to hold the cutter in one position when you get started cutting. The first time I tried to use this, it was very difficult to hold the vibrating tool with one hand and get it started in the material. It wanted to walk all over the sheet rock. I think if you use two hands to secure the tool and hold it in place it’s not gonna be that difficult to use, but I think if the top and bottom had been designed so that they started cutting at the same time as the sides it would’ve been easier to get it started.All in all, this was my favorite of the two sets that I tested, and it’s a dollar less. The teeth are more aggressive, and it seems to cut faster.

This is my review of the iQIHAN 2Pcs Square Slot Cutter, Drywall Outlet Cutter for Oscillating Tools | Drywall Outlet Cutter Compatible with Dewalt 20V & Milwaukee M18, Electrical Box Cutting Tool for Single Gang Wall Box. This is a pair of hardened steel outlet box cutters for use with drywall.I am in the process of remodeling parts of our home. As part of the process, I have had to either relocate light switches and outlets, or install new ones altogether. These slot cutters really simplify the process. With both single and double-gang cutters, they ensure that my cuts are the exact size every time. I also end up with straight cuts without weird, jagged edges I would get with a drywall saw. This leaves me with neater looking finished outlets.Attaching these to the tool is pretty easy, although the exact process, of course, depends on your particular tool. With the oscillating tool I use, the fit is perfect and secure. I don’t have any issues with the cutters slipping off or becoming loose. As with any drywall tool, this generates a lot of dust. Not only do I use PPE, I also hold a vacuum hose under the cutter to catch any dust.This tool has sped up and simplified my workflow when it comes to fitting electrical components in the wall.

So I got these for a little remodeling work, mostly so I didn't have to measure and cut out box access holes for old work boxes. They are easy to use; just mount them up on your multitool and go; you'll get a cutout sized for a single or double gang box. They're well enough made, and worked well enough on my older Fein multimaster that uses a hex screw to hold the blades in place. On a unit that uses a clamp, I'd make sure the clamp is as tight as you can get it as these are good size and I think they'd work loose fairly easily.These didn't allow for me to use the dust collection feature on my Fein, so I used a shop vac while I was cutting. They do tend to make the tool move a bit; they are good size so it's harder to keep things still. They are mountable at any angle on your tool, so the angle you're at is adjustable to make holding the tool itself easier which should make operation easier. These also make it easy to cut access holes to areas you need to get to and give you a finished hole that you can stick an old work box in and cover with a blank plate; so there's some versatility there. It's also nice being able to just cut the hole and end up with specific size openings that are easy to cover with readily available cover plates.Overall, these turned out to be more useful than I'd originally thought; so I consider them to be a good value at their price point.My Rating System -Five Stars - Better than I expected; exceeded expectations.Four Stars - Met expectations; exactly what I expected.Three Stars - Average quality; nothing fancy and not quite what I expected.Two Stars - Noticeably below average; disappointed.One Star - Absolutely below expectations; not worth my time or yours.Since ratings are opinions, they vary as much as the authors that wrote them. We've cut a LOT of holes in drywall for electrical outlet and light switch boxes. Both before putting the drywall up, and after. I had never thought of creating a perfectly sized saw-toothed box to fit an oscillating tool... and it's exactly what you get with the 2 Piece Drywall Outlet Hole Cutter for Oscillating Tools.The two pieces are a single-box size and a double-box size. It works well to cut out the holes, as long as you can keep the drywall cutter on your oscillating tool. We had to reattach the double one once when it vibrated loose, then the single one had to be reattached twice, and it fell off a third time right as it finished the cut. I'm not sure what was going on that we couldn't keep them on, even with careful alignment on the pegs. It was hard to get it really tight because the box is pretty deep and you have to turn the short end of the allen wrench. Even with two people, it was difficult to hold, keep the pegs aligned, tighten the allen bolt, and so on. We ended up having to use pliers to turn it on tightly. And, apparently, even that wasn't enough. There were three small pieces included in the box that looked like they were for adaptations when putting the hole cutter on the oscillating tool, but without any instructions, there was no way to figure out how to use them.Getting it started on the drywall wasn't too difficult. Just don't go in with a lot of pressure to avoid the jackhammer effect, causing the cutter to jump around on the drywall. Once you get going, if you can keep the cutter on the tool, it works well. A little gentle rocking from top to bottom seems to help it move along. The sturdy, metal cutting tool you just put to the drywall will get through it.After all the back-and-forth of putting the cutter back on the tool, I had to ask myself, "Would it have been just as fast to use a drywall saw to cut the holes out?" Honestly, it might have been. With that being said, some people just can't cut a straight line, much less four of them to create a rectangle. So for them, this would be a great solution. For others with a good bit of experience with cutting holes out with a drywall saw, this may take more time than just pulling out that little saw and going through the motions.Overall Impression: At first, this looks like a great tool, and I wondered why I never thought of it. But for all the fiddling to get it on the oscillating tool, and then back onto the oscillating tool a few more times, it was clear to me it would have been faster to cut two holes for outlets with the drywall saw. As I mentioned before, for anyone who doesn't feel comfortable hand-sawing the holes, or those who just aren't good at it, this would be a good solution. I would recommend these for those who don't like to cut outlet holes with drywall saws or aren't good at it, or those who just like to use power tools every chance they get.
