I really like this countertop water filter! It’s a great option for a college room or dorm where you may not have easy access to filtered water. The auto-fill pitcher is super convenient because you can simply fill the reservoir and let the system do the work. I also love that it provides room-temperature water, so there’s no need to deal with a complicated setup or plumbing.The countertop design doesn’t take up an unreasonable amount of space, and having filtered water readily available is so convenient. It’s especially nice for keeping a supply of drinking water on hand without constantly buying bottled water. This would be a great addition to a college room, apartment, office, or any small space where you want convenient filtered water without installing anything.

As many of you know, I'm pretty stingy with five star reviews. For me, a product needs to go above and beyond just "does it's job" to warrant the highest rating. Well this PureDrop RO unit definitely goes above and beyond.First off, let's talk customer service. Despite my shipment coming in absolutely unmolested, no box damage, and had serious foam insulation, for what ever reason, the handle of the pitcher was laying in the bottom of the box. It was snapped clean off.So, I called the number in my owners manual on Monday morning. I left a voice mail with name, phone number and reason for calling. A man named Robert called me back within 6 minutes of leaving the message. I told him my situation, he confirmed my shipping address and had ordered a replacement pitcher within the hour. That my friends is how customer service should be. Give Robert some kudos.The unit. It's heavy, which often suggests well made. It's footprint is no bigger than most drip coffee makers, which is a blessing as our kitchens become ever-more populated with various gadgets. Now onto the operation. PureDrop has made this as simple as possible to operate, and yet packs a lot of features. The ones I like best are the real time numbers showing the total dissolved solids in both the processed water and the "raw" supply water. I also enjoy the dispenser, which allows you to select 8, 16, 30 or 40 ounces at a push of the button.After the initial 3 or 4 flushes to remove any sediment in the filters, the water comes out sparkling clean, crisp, with no odd tastes or smells. It also has a different "mouth feel" to it, it's softer because so many dissolved solids like calcium have been removed. Everyone loves the end product.Our water is very hard. Water spots galore, shower heads that clog over time. According to the meter on the unit, my tap water has 400 parts of TDS. After processing, it ranges from 8 to 23. Only distilled water does better than that. Now, something to think about. Periodically, the unit will do a flush which is basically backwashing the filters. On under sink RO units, that flushed water goes through a tube and into the drain. NOT with this countertop unit.When this unit does a flush, it cycles the flush water back into the water supply tank. There is no reservoir for it that you can dump. So that means you will get your longest filter life, by dumping out your supply tank more frequently.Is that a deal breaker? Not at all. This is a compact countertop unit you can use anywhere. I don't even have mine in the kitchen, it's in my office on my file cabinet. It is completely self contained. Yes it would be even more incredible if they had added a catch cup for the flush water, but that would have increased the unit's size. Simply dump your water supply tank more often and problem solved.All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the unit and the customer service. The only question then becomes longevity, which I can't speak about yet. But if this thing holds up long term, its even more of a winner. Yes I recommend this as a tremendous alternative to under sink units.

In my testing, three wasn’t enough. Using a UV lamp, I still detected particulates suspended in the purified water (not air bubbles). I ended up running six cycles until the water was completely clear. Once past that hurdle, the system stabilized and produced consistently clean water.The multi‑stage filtration—PP sediment, carbon, RO membrane, and UV‑C—works extremely well. The quality of the water is noticeably better than standard carbon filters, and the taste is crisp, neutral, and free of the metallic or chlorinated notes you get from tap water. The UV‑C light is a standout feature; it adds real health benefits by helping maintain cleaner water in the pitcher between uses.The real‑time TDS monitor is genuinely useful. This is so much more convenient than my old ZeroWater or Brita pitchers, and I’m very happy to finally toss both of them out! A countertop RO system also makes the most sense for me right now because I don’t want to give up valuable cabinet space under my sink or deal with installing a filtration system down there. I also don’t have an electrical outlet under my sink, which makes the slimmer, powered under-sink RO systems impossible. This gives me the filtration I wanted without modifying anything under the sink.Setup was pretty straightforward, although you do have to flush water through the system three times before drinking it. I’m assuming that’s to flush out the new filters, but it did feel like a lot of water to cycle through at first.I previously used Brita then switched to a ZeroWater pitcher, so I had something to compare the TDS readings against, and the readings on this machine seem accurate. The digital screen is easy to use and easy to understand the readings.The biggest improvement for me is convenience. I don’t have to constantly refill a pitcher and wait for the water to filter, and the water tastes really good. I’ve actually noticed myself drinking more water since getting it.My town water is considered safe to drink, but like many municipal water supplies, there are still trace contaminants and water-quality issues that made me want an extra level of filtration specifically for drinking water. I wanted an additional level of filtration for things like PFAS, heavy metals and other trace contaminants, which is why I specifically wanted a reverse-osmosis system.It is fairly substantial and takes up a decent amount of counter space. I ended up putting mine on the ledge of my picture window, which works well. I’m also not sure what happened with the drip tray—I didn’t see one when I unpacked everything, although it’s entirely possible I accidentally tossed it with the packaging.Overall, I’m really happy with it so far. It’s very easy to use, has a substantial water reservoir with a separate removable water pitcher, the water tastes great, and it’s a major convenience upgrade from a pitcher.

Love having different temperature optionsThe adjustable temperature settings are more useful than I expected. I use a lower temperature for oatmeal and a hotter setting for coffee and tea. The water heats up very quickly, so I don't have to wait for a kettle anymore.

I live in an apartment, so installing an under-sink RO system wasn't an option. This was literally plug it in, fill the tank, and start using it. The water tastes great, and I love being able to keep the pitcher in the fridge. Once I put it back on the base, it refills automatically. Couldn't be any easier.
