This valve unit comes with teflon tape, but it requires a rubber shower head Washer (shown in picture) to form a tight seal.I bought these at a home improvement store, but NOTE: these are not found in the plumbing parts isle, they are in the isle where they sell shower heads.All shower heads come with a washer already installed in the female threaded end, right out of the box, but when attaching this valve you must insert a washer into the female end of this valve AND wrap your threads with teflon tape.I hand tightened it in place and tested it, with the valve fully closed and it didn't leak a drop!

This valve is perfect for what I needed for. But it doesn't shut the water flow 100%. It leaks very little and that's why I didn't returned it.
