They work!
[Set name: 2 Pack VF4000 Filters]
I have a 25+ year old Ridgid 9-gallon shop vac (Model WD09450) and these filters fit perfectly after uninstalling the old filter, cleaning the vacuum and then installing the new. They provide a tight seal and would probably stay in place on their own but I use the retention nut to ensure it does. The construction is solid and the pleats of the filter appear to be strong and washable as advertised. WIth the new filter in place, air flow through the vacuum appears to be strong and without restriction. Time will tell how well they hold up but my initial assessment is positive towards a long life.I will add to this review should there be anything new to report after being in use for awhile. I give an initial rating of 5 stars for build quality and fitment and my seal of approval. Reasonable price for two filters.

This review discusses two different filters: the pleated paper and the black foam. Amazon's system will not allow me to review them separately.1) PLEATED PAPER for DRY USE:This set of replacement filters fit our Ridgid 14-gallon wet/dry shop vac perfectly. Their appearance and function appears near-identical to the OEM. Great suction. These filters are being used for general debris (sawdust, dirt, dry vegetation, dead insects, etc) and have been clearly up to the job. While its HEPA may be overkill because of the shop and outdoor environments these filters are being used in, it is certainly is not a “con”. No defects. The online description claims these filters are “designed specially for wet and dry dual-use scenarios, featuring excellent anti-clogging and anti-deformation performance.” I did not test them with wet vacuuming but am very concerned that the paper pleats will sag and deform under suction if they become saturated. Because of this, I will continue to use foam filters designed specifically for wet scenarios and reserve these for dry use.Reusable. Filters can even be carefully blown and/or rinsed off to extend longevity but must be allowed to thoroughly dry prior to re-installation. This set of two filters makes this seamless: one to wash/dry & the other to use.Installation could not have been easier. The rubberized ends fit very snugly over the center post and flanged “pin” that locks the filter in place but it is reassuring to know that a great seal has been obtained. The cost for a single comparable filter at a prominent Big Box store well exceeds the cost of this set of two. That makes these high quality Ridgid shop vac filters a great value. Recommended.2) BLACK FOAM for WET USE:I ordered the black foam filters that are designed for wet scenarios. High-density foam filters (backed with mesh inside) help protect the shop vac’s fan. These filters are a perfect fit for our Ridgid 14-gallon wet/dry shop vac. Great suction. No defects.Foam filters like these aren’t as able to filter fine dust and other particulates compared to paper. Pleated paper filters are best used for dry scenarios as fluting may sag and deform under suction if it becomes saturated. Thus, for high-volume wet pickup these foam filters are superior as they are designed specifically for wet scenarios.Reusable. Filters can be blown and/or rinsed off to extend longevity but should be allowed to thoroughly air dry prior to re-installation. This two-filter set makes this seamless: one to wash/dry and the other to use.Easy installation. The rubberized ends fit very snugly over the center post and flanged “pin” that locks the filter in place. The tight fit reassures that a great seal – and thus, suction – has been obtained. The cost for a single foam filter at a prominent Big Box store far exceeds the cost of this set of two. That makes these high quality replacement Ridgid foam shop vac filters a great value. Recommended.

Great filters

I went to get some filters for my Ridgid 12 Gallon Shop Vac at a big box store and couldn't believe the price of them. I thought maybe Amazon might have a better price, so I went home and checked. I found these filters for significantly less and decided to give them a try. They arrived well packaged with no damage. When I examined them, I couldn't find anything wrong with them, they appeared to be of the same quality I'd previously purchased at the BB store. These Blue filters are better at filtering than the White filters but not as fine of a filter as the Green ones. I use these Blue ones as my basic filter for out in the shop as they remove most of the shop dirt without getting filled with dirt as quick as a finer filter might. I do use a foam cover over them (Amazon carries them) so I can just brush off most of the big dirt that never gets to the filter. I then tap out most of the dirt from the pleats and gently blow the inside of the filter to get almost all of the rest of the dirt out. These are washable if you choose to do so and since there are 2 in the package you could wash the dirty one and while its drying install the other filter so you always have a filter as a clean spare.Overall, I think these are well worth the price and will do the job the same as the Big Box store filters. Glad I tried them.

Fits perfectly on my RIGID 14500 (similar to the 1450) 14 gallon 6h.p. wet/dry vac. What I really like is that I received TWO filters at a price that is 25% lower than just ONE VF5000 filter sold locally. The upper and lower rubberized frame fits very snuggly over the housing and clicks into place (takes a bit of force) which creates a very airtight seal. This Pleated filter appears very well made, is strong and, the claim that these are washable is a plus as sometimes some water will be inadvertently sucked up when forgetting to replace the filter with a foam filter. How well it will last through remains to be seen over time. The VF6000 filter is advertised as a HEPA filter that will filter down to .3microns. Whether one needs that type filtration depends on what you will use it for. For use in my garage, for general cleaning, I think it is a bit overk$ll and a lower rating, and possible lower cost, might suffice for most jobs.I measured the outside pleats at 0.8mm which is the same as my VF5000 filter so, I am not sure if this is better/more robust or not. The added activated charcoal seems to be only a fine layer or dust particles so, I am not sure how efficient that will be at absorbing odors or other VOCs as charcoal will saturate quickly.Overall, While I cannot attest to its longevity, since it appears to be a very well made filter and, compared to the cost of filters available locally I rate this at 5 stars due to the quality and the overall price of $14 per filter which is far below the OEM price point.Note:VF4000 = standard dust filtrationVF5000 = 3-layer fine particle (like drywall sanding)VF6000 = 5-layer super fine (allergen filter)
