I already have several Philips Hue lights around the house, so adding this downlight was basically a no-brainer. Installation was straightforward, and getting it integrated into my existing Hue setup was quick and easy.The color range is excellent and the colors actually look accurate instead of washed out like some cheaper smart lights. Whites are especially good since you can go from very warm to bright daylight, and the dimming gets impressively low when you want softer lighting.If you’re already invested in the Hue ecosystem, this fits right in and works exactly as expected. This light is a massive improvement over my old Philips Hue lights! It is brighter, able to dim lower, and has an expanded color range! The appearance of it is beautiful, as always. It is easy to use once you have it connected to your system. I love installing these down lights, because it’s the most easy to install. It’s as easy as connecting wires and clipping the light into the hole, just make sure you get the right sized light for the hole in your ceiling.This is an extremely high quality light. The ability to adjust the color and brightness of your light manually, automatically with scenes, or on a schedule is such a nice quality of life improvement. I definitely recommend this light to anyone who needs a smart home lighting system!

I have more than 50 Philips Hue lights throughout my house and have tried plenty of competing smart lighting brands over the years. Hue costs more. That isn’t breaking news.But comparing this to cheap basic white recessed lighting and calling it a poor value makes no sense. Plot twist: Philips already sells basic recessed lighting in the $20-ish range, including smart options around that price. You can buy those all day if that’s what you need. This Hue light isn’t trying to replace them.This is a premium full-color smart light, and it fits into an enormous Hue product range. Across all kinds of Hue hardware, I’ve always been blown away by the color representation and uniformity. Bulbs, strips, lamps, and recessed lights all work together remarkably well.The Hue app is also still unmatched in my experience. Automations, rooms, zones, schedules, and custom lighting setups are incredibly easy to create and manage, even with 50+ lights.These are bright, the colors are excellent, and the slim design is fantastic. Yes, Hue commands a premium, but there’s a reason I continue buying it.Easy 5 stars.

I have a lot of home automation, but my first hue light here. Positive first impressions.Before installing it permanently, I hooked it up with a temporary cable. The bulb works very well. Good brightness, paired very quickly after scanning the hue QR code with the hue app using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and then I could turn it on and off and change the color and brightness from my phone. The app is standard Hue, overkill as for most lights, but it looks like it would be nice for a whole houseful. Guess starting with one there is less to do with the app. But it works fine.Then I paired it with my Echo devices, and that worked well also. The automatic detection didn't work, but I went to manually add it, scanned the matter QR code, and then it detected and showed up. So now I can voice control it with my other lights. Pretty easy to use with voice control. It doesn't do wifi directly, so if you want remote control without the phone app you will need to either pair it with Amazon or use a Hue hub to bridge.The light looks great - nice design, good color. It comes with easy to use wire spring clamps instead of wire nuts, I think that is an upgrade and they made it easy to set up. It does not go perfectly into a standard can - instead it is meant to go directly in a drywall hole. And it includes a junction box with a quick disconnect cord to the light, nice for rapid replacement and convenient for installation as well.Overall, this is NOT cheap. It is good quality, and it looks great, and is very easy to use. If you are already with Hue or willing to spend the money for ease of use, it is an excellent addition to the ecosystem.

I am a big fan of Hue lights, the lights appearance is sophisticated, the quality, ease of use and adjustability is better than any I have tried. I only gave four stars because this particular one was oversized for traditional ceiling light.
