Pendant Lights Kitchen Island

Got this through Vine. I’ve been looking for a pendant that would work over that little spot above the kitchen sink. Size-wise, this one would fit. I just haven’t hung it yet.The light itself is nicer than I expected. The green ribbed glass has that flower shape, the brushed gold hardware looks clean, and the whole thing feels sturdy—not flimsy like some of the cheaper pendants floating around. Height is adjustable and it takes a regular E26 bulb, which is what I wanted.The problem is it doesn’t match the rest of my kitchen. My other fixtures and the overall look just don’t go with this color or style. I kept hoping it would once I had it in person, but it doesn’t.That said, it’s a solid light. It actually reminds me of one my grandma had growing up, just with a more modern twist. I’ll probably find another spot for it—hallway, powder room, something like that—because I don’t want to send back a fixture this well made just because the kitchen isn’t the right room for it.

Right out of the box, the green tulip-shaped glass shade was beautifully done. The details in the textured design look great, and the glass is fairly thick with some nice, quality heft to it. Even though the measurements are clearly listed in the description, the shade still seemed disappointingly small once I saw it in person. If the fixture were any bigger, the tulip shape might look out of proportion, but as it sits, it just looks dwarfed in our larger dining room. This would be incredibly nice in a smaller dining annex, or even as a whimsical piece in a she-shed. Seriously, it would look fabulous in a she-shed!Another thing to keep in mind is that the green glass does color the light. It casts a constant, slight green tinge over the room, and I actually had to move a few decorations on our walls to compensate for the new glow.As far as the electrical setup goes, it attaches exactly like any standard light fixture is supposed to. My husband did all that legwork and said everything went smoothly. Of course, he is the type who refuses to look at instructions, so I honestly can't tell you if the included manual is correct or not!

I really like the look of this pendant light. This is a very pretty tulip shaped pressed glass pendant with gold stem and canopy. The quality of the glass is good. It is clear and sparkly with the facets of the ribbing creating a nice diffusion of light.The pendant comes very well packaged. I can't imagine that anything could break if the box remains intact. It is all tightly packed in rigid styrofoam for excellent protection.The mounting instructions are clear and I will have no problems when installation time comes around. The aesthetic is vintage and I'll lamp it with a "vintage-filament" clear LED lamp for extra sparkle. The gold finish of the stem and canopy is very on-trend. The stem comes with tubes that connect for an overall height of 15"-51". The canopy also has a swivel stem for mounting on a sloped ceiling.For $66, this pendant is a good value!

This is a beautiful 12-inch green rib hanging pendant light. It has a brushed gold finish on the metal parts of the canopy and the hanging materials, as well as on the fixture itself, except for the green glass.The height of this fixture can be adjusted to suit your particular use. It has three 12-inch rods and one 6-inch rod, so you can adjust it from 6 inches down from the ceiling to 42 inches down from the ceiling if you wish.The fixture uses one E26 socket, and the manufacturer suggests not getting a bulb larger than 60 W. This would be an ideal light for a kitchen, a dining room, a cottage, a breakfast area, a bedroom, or an entranceway into a home.I’m sure you're already aware of this, but I feel incumbent upon me to state that 9 W of LED power is the equivalent of an old-style 100 W incandescent lightbulb. Therefore, keep that in mind for the locations you wish to use this. If you’re using it over the breakfast table, you might want simply a 19 W LED bulb in it. It’s a beautiful green shade, and as I discussed in the video, the people underneath the shade light are going to see the bulb; you get an attractive LED bulb, and for most purposes 9 W would be more than adequate. I would recommend getting an Edison-style bulb that’s clear glass, where you can literally see what it looks like: tungsten filament, but of course the LED developments. It’s more attractive than some of the ugly LED bulbs that have little blue squares and things like that; they’re all wide together to look like the pull-up.The manufacturer says the installation is not difficult, but as with all electrical insulation, she chooses to do it yourself. I have three recommendations, caveats, or tips to categorize.Press: Make absolutely certain you turn the power off to the junction box that you’re about to begin working on. One of the easiest ways to do this is to have a friend of yours stay by the junction box that is currently operating a light of some sort and turn that light on while you go downstairs or out in the garage to the circuit breaker control panel box and start turning off circuit breakers, your friend who’s talking to you on a cell phone will tell you when you’ve turned off the correct circuit breaker. You can then flash that circuit breaker three or four times to make certain you’re talking about the same breaker.Second, although it may seem redundant with electrical work, you cannot be too careful taking an electrical testing device and testing each and every wire in that junction box you’re gonna be working on to make certain that none of the wires are still energized. I always use a device that looks like a little red pen. When you turn it on by pushing the top button, a little red light lights I put the tip of that pen near a wire that’s energized. It starts chirping like a bird, and if I put it near a more highly energized wire, like a 240 V clothing dryer line, it will chirp twice as fast, and the light flashes twice as fast, warning me of the dangerous electrical current and the electrical hazard involved. It’s an important safety device to have with you when you’re doing electrical work.Third, many folks do not know how to use wire lock nuts. Most fixture manufacturers use wire lock nuts to connect the house service wires to the fixture wire. Frequently, I see wire lock nuts covered with tape, wires, tape together. Sometimes people make a mess of the use of where I like nuts. Let’s assume you thread the wires through the installation plates as the manufacturer suggests and you’ve removed the insulation in the last half centimeter of both the house service wire and the fixture wires. Let’s start with the black wires. Place the points of the black wires facing in the same direction and adjacent to each other; cover both points with the wire lock nut and turn it clockwise until a firm, mechanical, and electrical connection has been established. Do the same with the white wire and the green wire, which may be connecting to a bar or copper wire coming from the fixture.Once you’ve done that, you can connect the canopy to the installation plate, which is either connected with two decorative nuts or connected with two decorative screws on either side of the canopy next after you’ve done that, install the plastic disc from the E 26 socket, install the green glass shade and hold it in place and then replace the shade holder desk and tighten it fully. Finally, install the E26 lightbulb (9 W) into that socket, turn on the circuit breaker control, panel box switch, and the local switch, and test your work. Remember, if it’s too bright, you can always get a dimmer switch.
