Full disclosure, I am an Amazon Vine reviewer and so I requested these water pump pliers for review. That being said, I will always give an honest review and opinion. And if something changes, I will update my review.Pros:- Forged steel.- Lockable sizing.- Comfortable.- Grooved jaws for grip.- Convenient size for EDC.- Economical.Cons:- Questionable durability.I like tools, I use tools, and I carry tools every day wherever I go. And this includes EDC tools like a pocket knife, flashlight, and a multi tool. And I've done so since I was 18 years old. 22 years later and I have come to the conclusion that multi tools are usually only used for the pliers and rarely for the screw drivers.And let's face it, they are heavy. A set of pliers like this is far less heavy and actually does a better job as pliers. And no multi tool I've come across has jaws like this that can open up wide enough to grip larger nuts or plumbing fixtures without having the grips so far apart, that you can't get a decent grip on them. I have the 7 1/4 inch Knipex Cobra pliers pictured next to these pliers with my SOG multi tool.I've been carrying this particular set for about three weeks and have found it comfortable to carry and to us. It does the jobs I've needed it for and I have no complaints. My only concern is the longevity and durability of these compared to my 5 inch Knipex set of water pump pliers. Anyone who knows Knipex, knows what great tools they make and that they are still made in Germany to a high standard.However at the time of writing this, a set of Knipex 5 inch pliers goes for $33.73 here on Amazon. Compare that to $10.29 for these Liyu mystery pliers and you can almost get three for the price of one. But even $33.73 is much less expensive than a good name brand multi tool.

I really like these water pump pliers. The button makes the size adjustment hold in place which is a nice touch. I wanted a smaller set to keep on my workbench and these are the perfect size. They would also make a great addition to a car kit or small household tool kit where you may not need the size or what the weight of the more common 10" or larger ones you see.The construction is good and I had no issues with the mechanism locking in place. They also held up well and I saw no signs of deforming or chipping even with a good deal of force applied.These are a good price for a very handy tool

I lost my other similar pair. I'm glad to have found these for a replacement.I am impressed with how well these five‑inch LIYU water pump pliers perform, especially for such a compact tool. Even though they are small, they feel solid and capable, and the build quality matches what the product page describes.The chrome vanadium steel construction is excellent. The jaws and teeth are clearly heat treated for hardness and durability, and they grip securely without slipping. The diamond‑shaped serrations make a noticeable difference when I am working on smooth or rounded surfaces.The quick‑adjust button is the feature that stands out the most. It lets me set the jaw width directly on the workpiece, and the self‑locking design keeps the adjustment steady while I am working. I do not have to stop and readjust, which makes the tool easier to use in tight spots. This is a great feature that I don’t have on any of my other channel style pliers.The handle grips are comfortable and stay secure in my hand. They are made of durable PVC, and the non‑slip surface helps reduce strain or mistakes during longer tasks.Because of the small size, these pliers fit into narrow areas where larger tools cannot reach. They are great for plumbing repairs, automotive work, and general household tasks. These water pump pliers are very high quality for the price. They have a similar design to the Knipex and Harbor Freight Doyle pliers for a fraction of the cost. Pliers with this design are great because the jaw shape allows rotational force to make the jaws clamp down harder on the workpiece. Basically, the harder you turn them, the harder they bite on what you are turning.Another thing that makes them different from many other types of pliers is the push button locking mechanism that keeps the jaws adjusted to a particular width. The button presses smooth and functions well. There are many teeth that give you a variety of adjustable lengths. Additionally, the hand grips feel high quality and provide good non-slip gripping ability. These are small pliers (5-inch), they feel very durable.I haven’t put them to heavy duty use to evaluate the metals hardness, but they really work great for small jobs, I highly recommend them.

These little pliers are awesome. They have a surprisingly solid weight to them for being only 5 inches long, and they feel much more like a premium hand tool than something in this price range. The adjustment mechanism is smooth and easy to use, the jaws grip well, and the handles are comfortable without making the tool feel bulky. The small size is actually one of the biggest reasons I like them because they can get into places where a full-size pair of channel-lock style pliers would be awkward.I personally use mine at work for turning the small hydraulic valves on heavy equipment attachments, and they work great for that. They give me enough grip to turn the valve without needing to carry around a larger wrench just for that one job. I also think these would be perfect to keep in a vehicle, toolbox, ATV, or even a small emergency kit. There are always those random times when you wish you had a pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench nearby, and something this compact barely takes up any room. They open to 1 3/4 inch.The price is also very good compared with a lot of nearly identical mini adjustable pliers I've seen. I already own a pipe wrench and a crescent-style wrench from this same company and both have been holding up well, so I had pretty high hopes for these. So far they feel every bit as solid. I actually plan on picking up a couple more so I can leave one in different vehicles and always have one handy.

I was not expecting such a small package for these water pump pliers. What you receive is a 5-inch quick adjust Water Pump Pliers. The pliers are forged Chrome Vanadium steel and heat treated. The Listings also indicate that the teeth of these pliers undergo a secondary heat treatment as well. The handles of the pliers are coated with a non-slip PVC grip design.One of the interesting features of these pliers is the way that the way that these work. The pliers are adjusted by pushing a quick-adjust button on the side of the tool and when release will self-lock ensuring clamping stability and operation. The jaws open a little over one inch with a diamond shape serration that helps slipping.The size however of these pliers is however what makes this a limited use tool. This tool is almost small enough to look like a child’s toy. My hands are not extremely large but this tool only extends about 1-1/2 inches above my hand. With the jaws fully open the handles are so close together you cannot really apply any pressure on the handle.Other than the size there are no issues I can really point to. The way the pliers function is interesting but they are very small and for my applications would have limited use, for others these may be the tool they are looking for. ***** Five stars - Exceeded my expectations. I really love it!**** Four stars - Met my expectations. I like it and recommend it.*** Three stars - Average- some pros but some notable cons.** Two stars - Disappointed- few pros and too many cons.* One star - Terrible!
