I got this a while ago, and have been waiting for someone to put it up for me on my front porch. Unfortunately I have not been able to get anyone to do it, so here's my review with that in mind.This fixture has a solid metal base with decorative glass insert. It does have the light sensor on top, which allows it to turn on at sunset and turn off at sunrise. There is a little black rubber cap to go over it if you don't want to use that feature. I plan on not using that feature because I have motion sensing bulbs that already have that feature in them. I'm going to experiment with both the motion sensing bulbs by themselves, and with the fixtures dusk to Dawn sensor on as well. I'm not sure how it's going to work either way but that's why I'm experimenting with it.It was packaged very securely. The glass was intact and it was actually so secure in the box that it was kind of difficult to get it out without damaging the styrofoam that it was packed in. But I finally got it out and inspected it.It seems very sturdy and does not come with any instructions, so if you do not know how to install a front porch light fixture, you will not be able to do it on your own.But the unit itself seems very sturdy and well built. I cannot wait to put this on my porch because I live in a very old house that was built in the 1920s, and the light fixtures on it were probably put on in the 1970s, so this will definitely be a major upgrade for the front porch. Also being a Craftsman type house, this appears to enhance the front porch from the way that the old fixture looked.When I get this installed, I will update my review on how it works. I really think this is a good value if the dusk to Dawn sensor does not work. However I fully expect everything to work.Taking it out of the box and inspecting it and assembling the fixture as much as I can without installing it, I definitely recommend this light. It is very attractive - I just can't wait to see it on at night!

I put this in to replace a plain, dated porch fixture with something cleaner-looking that still takes a standard E26 bulb, so I was not locked into a proprietary lamp. I mounted it beside an exterior door that gets afternoon sun and the occasional wind-driven rain, and I paid closest attention to fit, build quality, and whether it stayed convenient once the first-day novelty wore off. Using a common bulb base meant I could choose my own color temperature and brightness rather than accept whatever an integrated LED dictated, which was a big part of the appeal. I also wanted a fixture that would look intentional rather than builder-grade, since it is the first thing visitors see at the door.The fixture has a clean, functional build. It is a roughly 12 inch black outdoor wall sconce with metal-and-glass construction and a standard E26 lamp base, and the finish is even with no thin or blotchy spots on the coating. The adjustment and mounting points move and seat without feeling loose, and the electrical connections are positioned so the house wiring can be routed and capped without unnecessary strain inside the backplate. The glass panels sit securely rather than rattling in their frame, which is usually the first thing to fail on budget fixtures.In use it does exactly the job without making me work around the design. It mounted to a standard outdoor junction box, the gasketing sits flush against the wall, and with a warm bulb installed it throws a pleasant, even light rather than a harsh hotspot. For any outdoor powered fixture I watch for flicker, buzzing, heat, and loose connectors, and I saw none of those with a quality LED bulb fitted. The components behave like a coordinated system instead of parts thrown into a box, and the mounting hardware was complete and correctly sized. After several weeks it shrugged off a couple of rain storms with no water intrusion or fogging inside the glass, and the light pattern is wide enough to cover the doorway and the top of the steps without leaving a dark patch directly beneath the fixture.Compared with the most basic porch fixtures, the difference is refinement. The metal body feels substantially more solid than the stamped-tin budget versions, the glass is a real glass panel rather than thin acrylic, and the E26 socket keeps you free to swap bulbs as your needs change. Those details remove the small frustrations that make a cheap fixture feel disposable within a season or two, and the result looks more expensive than it was. It also sits close enough to the wall that it does not catch a shoulder on a narrow porch, and the proportions read as tidy rather than bulky once it is mounted.There is still one practical point to know. The clear glass shows dust and dead insects quickly, so it needs an occasional wipe to keep the fixture looking sharp, especially if it faces the usual porch-light bug traffic. In my use that was purely a maintenance preference rather than a meaningful failure, and a frosted bulb hides it somewhat if you would rather clean less often.For renters and homeowners who care about practical installation, usable light, and a bulb they can actually choose, this is a sensible pick. I would buy it again for the same job because it solves the problem cleanly, looks better than what it replaced, and does not create a larger maintenance or wiring headache down the line.
