Actually it's a tie between this taping knife and my margin trowel. Both are versatile and useful.I've down a lot of joints already with this knife and am impressed with the results.There was a time when I just grabbed the assortment of plastic putty knives "just for a quick job". What a waste of money/time.This is a serious tool for professionals. It has good flex without feeling flimsy. The blade has stayed sharp and rust free after 10-12 uses. I like how you can cut the joint tape cleanly every time without pulling the tape out of the mud.i hadn't ever thought of using my joint knife as a hammer. However, the butt of the handle is solid enough to sink the occasional nail-head that isn't in quite deep enough, without getting down and picking up a different tool.Very pleased with this tool. It should last me a along time, and is well worth the investment.

This is a really nice taping knife, good sharp edge. It is the perfect amount of stiffness.I really like that it has the metal end on the handle. Works great for hitting screw holes and if you have any spots where the screws missed, you can use the metal part on the handle to dent in the paper so it makes for nicer mudding. Good quality, comfortable to hold, great size. And it’s so nice that it’s stainless because you don’t get the rusting like you do with steel blades. If you’re looking for a 6” blade I definitely recommend this one.

I’ve used quite a few drywall taping knives over the years, and this Goldblatt 6-inch stainless steel knife is one of the better ones I’ve owned. The stainless steel blade has just the right amount of flexibility for applying joint compound while still being stiff enough to feather edges smoothly. It leaves a clean finish and makes patching and repair work much easier.The soft-grip handle is comfortable to hold, even during longer projects, and provides excellent control. I also really like the metal hammer end—it comes in handy for setting drywall nails or tapping things into place without having to reach for another tool.The blade cleans up easily after use, resists rust, and feels durable enough to last for years. This review is for a Goldblatt 6'' Stainless Steel Drywall Taping Knife.I have several Goldblatt tools, all of which have provided years of service. I expect this tool to do the same, as it is a well-made quality tool. This tool just feels solid. The blade has the right amount of rigidity to smoothly mud joints; and its six inch width makes it suitable for patching areas as well. The handle has a good fit and feel, soft enough to hold for a while comfortably and shaped for a good solid grip. A hammer end on the grip is useful for resetting the popped out nails. This tool can be used for more than just mudding and patching. It is can scrape ceiling popcorn, paint, or unstick a sliding window.I recommend this as a very handy high quality tool and a good addition to any toolbox.

I have been using Goldblatt putty knives for the past few years. They have held up really well and use a quality stainless steel (no rust). The 6 inch taping knife seems to be another quality product. You can see in the photos how it directly compares with their putty knife. The handle on the taping knife is a little wider. The blade has more of a matte finish. The biggest difference between the two is where the knife flexes. With the taping knife the flex happens further back toward the handle while with the putty knife, the flext is more toward the end of the blade. Which is better? It really depends on personal preference, I prefer the flex toward the back. You could get the same effect with an ultraflexible putty knife if you didn't want a pure taping knife. But at the end of the day, it is whatever works best for you.
