Single Sided Foam Tape

We have a very nice wooden door that we’ve had for many years, but the wood does expand and contract. In addition, the insulation we have around our door has worn out so it was time for replacement. This heavy duty single-sided 2” foam tape is just the solution we needed. I was able to cut it down to exact size, it’s easy to use, the adhesive on the sticky side stay down, and the thickness is not too thick or too thin. I was worried if it would be too thick and hinder to door opening and closing, but absolutely no issues. For the price, this is an excellent quick and easy solution around doors, windows, etc. A recommend from me to any other homeowners who need to redo their door/window insulation.

I found this really easy to use around my door jamb, and it immediately helped stop the drafts I used to feel coming through the gaps. It compresses nicely into uneven spaces and creates a solid seal that makes a noticeable difference in comfort, especially around areas where air would normally leak through.The foam itself is dense and acts as both a seal and a light insulating layer, which helps improve efficiency once it is in place. The adhesive backing is strong, so once you press it down it stays secured without lifting at the edges. This is some good insulation tape, but it's also nothing special or out of the ordinary. The width and thickness measurements are pretty much spot on compared to the description. My pictures show it's 2" wide and .123" thick. It's a little less than the 1/8” advertised, but keep in mind that's including the paper backing. So when you remove the paper backing, it shrinks just a tiny bit more, so it's about 95-ish percent of its rated thickness.This will work well enough for insulation sealing or weather stripping. I'm personally using it to seal gaps in door jams where the door meets the jam rest. The air from the AC can make some of our interior doors clunk from pressure movement, and this stripping has halted that problem. This makes it versatile and useful in other applications. The sticky backing holds well, and it's very easy to cut into pieces for more precise applications. It's also got a medium firmness to it, so it will depress a little with some pressure.Overall, this stripping is of good quality and does the job well. It's a great price, too, so the value is great. No problems found with this one.

Comes in a plastic bag.The product is 2 inches wide and 1/4 inch deep. I found that the foam was actually a lot harder than most of the foam insulation tapes that comes with an air conditioner and you may find at first that it may not manipulate as well.I used this on 90 degree corners and the application of the tape bent and adhered well to the plastic or metal surface. Provided you are filling a gap smaller than 1/4 inch it seems to seal well.It comes in a nicely compacted roll and at 16.5 ft long is easily cut into appropriate lengths. The backing for the adhesive is easily removed. I tend to use this sort of material seasonally for doors and air conditioners. Once the summer is over the air conditioners are put away and the tape removed. I only need this to last for the season, and it is well suited both material wise and from an adhesion point of view for that purpose.

I ordered this foam tape to fill a gap underneath my door leading to my garage where I believe bugs have been coming in. It is nice and wide, and actually was wider than my door so I had to trim it down. It does seem to feel the gap nicely and it's easy to use because you can trim it to size and just strip off the backing to apply it. However I'm not that impressed with the stickiness which is the reason for the four stars. The first time I applied it it came off quite easily but that's really my fault for not ensuring the bottom of the door was clean. The second time I applied it I did clean it first and then applied the backing. 48 hours now and I can still pull it back if I try to remove it. It seems like it should be sticking better than that. This is a solid core wood door so I'm sure it would stick better on something that was less porous.

The seals in the gaps of windows and doors need to be replaced every few years, as they lose their elasticity over time due to the constant pressure and temperature fluctuations to which they are exposed.Removing old seals is a somewhat tedious task; often, adhesive residue remains after peeling them off, which must be thoroughly removed before a new sealing strip can be applied. The self-adhesive insulation I selected measures 1/2 inch in width and 1/4 inch in thickness; it is quite narrow, which limits its range of application, unless, of course, you apply multiple strips side by side.The protective backing covering the adhesive side is easy to peel off without tearing. The adhesive itself is sufficiently strong to keep the tape firmly in place exactly where you’ve positioned it. Given the size of my windows, the length of the roll is enough to seal four windows.This tape provides ample sealing in both summer and winter, allowing me to significantly reduce my air conditioning and heating costs. I highly recommend it.

This review is for the Generic Brand Foam Tape Single Sided, 1/2 Inch W x 1/4 Inch. ASIN B0GWHF96QP.I have several exterior doors where the gasket has compressed over the years, worn away, or the frame has shifted by a few 1/16ths of an inch. Trying to replace the OEM gasket is now impossible, and replacement gaskets rarely fit perfectly. This gasket was purchased to seal the very small air leaks around the doors that have developed over the years.This is a very firm gasket, like a thick neoprene. The listing says it is EVA foam (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate). Given the heat of a West Texas summer, I am hoping this holds up to the heat. The adhesive is somewhat aggressive, which should allow it to stay in place as long as long as there is no lateral force.I have also found a use to reinforce a torn auto door gasket. I used some Weldbond adhesive to attach the gasket to the metal door frame underneath the torn OEM door gasket.Based on a one week use, this looks like a good multi-purpose gasket.

Maybe the actual dimensions will be posted in the advertisement at a later date. So, I measured the product to see what the real dimensions are.The width measured exactly two inches. Total thickness measured 0.123” which is a little less than the 1/8” advertised but more important is the actual foam thickness without the peel-off backing. The actual foam thickness measured 0.1185” (see photos) so when installed the thickness is about 95% of the 1/8” stated in the advertisement. The length measured ~17 feet.I’m not using this for insulation sealing or weather stripping, instead I will be using this in a product I provide technical support which runs on two AA alkaline battery cells. In my photos you’ll see how I added a piece cut to 0.8” x 1.85” to fit on the plastic battery compartment cover. This will prevent the batteries from shifting around in the battery compartment. Just the right thickness for this use. So, this product isn’t limited to weatherstripping or insulation as you can see and I’m sure I’ll find many other uses for it in my electronics work and hobby use.I recommend this product.
