This thing is beefy! It really is a hunk, but it gets the job done especially if you're trying to create some serious discouragement for those who would want to tamper with it. The plate metal is strong and the hinges are really well pressed. Make sure to measure the space it's going to be used in and ensure you have enough room for it to be installed, it's big!It is set up to work in a large array of possibilities, and was really easy to install. I appreciated how a good portion of the screw placements are actually hidden by the locking bar mechanism, so that helps stop people from just uninstalling it to take it off.Now to a certain extent all locks are just security theater, but this is hulky enough to help discourage, and was made well enough that is reversible to fit your needs.I used mine on a garage door that doesn’t get opened very frequently, but now it's got some serious security it didn’t have before.The screws that come with it are sufficient, but you can always, if the situation can allow, upsize them for additional security.This lock is set up to be a door/gate closer, and also allows for a padlock to be installed if you want it really locked down. Now the holes it comes with for the padlock are a decent size, but if you have a monster lock with a really thick shackle it may not fit through. So keep that in mind.Overall I like it, it gets the job done, and was well crafted for long term security use.

This latch is easy to operate from both sides of a gate, provided there is a way to reach the latch from either side. This latch is suitable to use only when the gate and the post are in plane. There are 4 holes on the swinging arm to use for a padlock; with that many holes it is easy to align the arm to the engaging plate even if there is a gap between the post and the gate. This latch requires both the gate and the post to have a width of at least 3.15" to screw in the plates. The gate can swing in either way with respect to the post to engage this latch. The swing arm of the latch is about 1.5" wide and hence acts as a good barrier against the wind from rattling the gate and getting it detached. There are many designs and options when it comes to gate latches, though this latch is on high end with respect to pricing, it is designed to serve its purpose well.

Heavy door latch with padlock, best suited for wider barn and shed doors. The issue is the wider square plate, which can make it challenging to install on wooden swing gates with narrower posts or edges (common to narrower lots in the Midwest). Otherwise it's very attractive and looks great.

I'm building some new barn doors and needed some heavy duty - but easy to open - door latch. Whoa, these things are heavy. Two things I'll need. Strength and options. If these bend during the next 20 years I'd be surprised, so strength is off the list. Most important is the mounting. I'm not sure if I want it left or right at this moment, and over time I'm sure the doors will move a bit. This allows for both so functionality is covered in aces. They look fine with a good finish, nothing fancy and the way a barn latch should be. I won't need to lock them but that option is there as well. These are really nice. The screws that were included are decent but I'll probably both them in.

Suitable for a left or right set. Strong heavy duty durable , modern design. Ideal for exterior wooden gate. Successfully keeps goats secure and escape proof. The hole provided for a padlock is a great option, allows better control and security to the pasture, easy to install, works well, no struggling. Great price for a quality made latch, the latch is very smooth operating, always seems to fully engage and lock securely. I would also like to add that I found the ease of installation and setting and alignment a lot easier and less complicated than similar gate latches I have purchased in the past. It is made of heavy materials and I rest better knowing it’s a quality latch and am very pleased with the price, quality and innovative ease of installation.

Using this on my trailer is feels very durable. Installation was pretty easy as it just needed lined up and screwed in place. It functions well to bar the door from inside since my trailer does not have an RV style door. Great value for the latch. Fit and finish is good, and it looks nice as well.

This door latch seems perfect for the inside of our storm cellar door. When we have to take shelter during our many tornado alerts it is important that the celler door is sufficiently secued on the inside. I am confident that this latch is sturdy enough to properly secure the door.The latch weighs 1.8 pounds on my kitchen scales, and feels heavy duty. It appears to have a water resistant coating which means it should resist rusting and should last. It is easy to lock and unlock and has a place for a padlock, if needed. One minor issue are that the screws that accompany the lock could be better. That is not a problem, as I have some good ones in our tool shed.Overall, I am happy with this lock. It is heavy duty and should do a good job at securing our storm cellar door which give me peace of mind.

I have a gate that did have a slide bolt latch that was a pain to open and close the gate with so I grabbed this latch when it popped up. I wanted the lift up latch and this one works perfectly. I love that it has size options for how you can secure it to the fence and it's not a one size fit since my gate is not a traditional gate. I needed one that would allow a bigger gap without the latch being too big and this one worked. I was able to secure the latch and it fit like a glove. Very easy to install - my gate post is all wood, but I would say it should work for any material you might have. It is well made, sturdy and looks very nice. There is a place to secure a lock if needed as well. Very nice and worth the price.
