I'm giving these 4 stars based on construction, perceived durability, appearance, and functionality. They haven't been through a fire (knock on wood) so I can't attest to how well they keep documents/photos/items safe from flames and water.For starters, you get 3 pouches: 2 small, which can hold things like cash and passports, and one large, for documents like marriage/birth/death certificates, wills, deeds, etc.They are all thicker than they look, and the larger pouch has some heft to it. All have a reflective band on them, and have a flap which covers the zippers and attaches to the rest of the pouch with a wide velcro strip closure. The zippers are sturdy and close easily, but stiffly, which I personally like....it gives me a feeling of a bit more security. Inside the pouches, the lining is a silver reflective material, like oxford cloth. The material feels sturdy and is sewn in, not glued. The exterior is a dull greige color, and is a textured material that feels rubberized. The overall look is modern, yet plain.The pouches all stretch a bit and can hold more than you would think, but they do have a limit.I hope to never need these bags, but I am happy to have them for my most important papers and feel very confident that they will do their job.

These fireproof/waterproof bags are quite thick and well made. The bags seal with a heavy-duty zipper, which is then covered with a heavy duty velcro flap, closure. The bags are very well insulated and have a reflective thermal film type of interior. There seems to be a thick layer of some kind of heavy insulation in between interior and exterior materials. The bags do test waterproof. I haven't tried to throw one into a fire to see just how fire proof it may be but using a lighter didn't show an effect on the exterior of the bag. There was absolutely no mark left on the bag, no melted edges or materials. The exterior did get hot to the touch, when I touched it immediately after removing the flame. I then tested it by putting my hand inside the bag and using a lighter right up against the exterior. While the exterior, again, became hot to the touch the inside was only warmer in that spot. I think these bags are an extra layer of protection for your most important documents. I will be using these bags inside my safe, for double protection.The bags look great and heavy-duty. The bags come in two sizes. There are two letter size bags, which can hold trifolded letter size papers. You also get one large legal size bag for legal sized papers. This variety of sizes, I think, works well for the most valuable documents in a home. These bags give me added peace of mind to know my documents will be safe should a fire break out.

Living in Los Angeles, I was always mostly focused on earthquake safety, but with the recent massive fires in LA, I’ve started to think much more about fire safety. At the time of the fires, I had my most important documents and photos ready to go next to my door for weeks, just in case the fires became out-of-control or some new arsonists decided to show up in my neighborhood. However, my documents weren’t very well-organized, so they would have been less “grab and go” than one might want in an emergency. Also if I’m not home to grab my documents, it won't help to have them next to the door. Even if I keep them in a fire safe, an extra layer of fire protection is helpful. So I figured it was better to be safe than sorry and ordered this set. The main pouch is a good size and has two separate compartments for storing documents or photos. You also get two travel bags for lithium ion batteries, which are always risky for taking on flights because of the possibility that they catch on fire mid-air. I did not run any science experiments and set things on fire just to see how long and well the pouches would withstand fire; however, the pouches are very thoughtfully designed and well-made, with thick material and sturdy zippers, so they inspire confidence in the quality. The inside of the pouches has a strong aluminum foil lining. In addition to the zippers, the pouches have a flap that folds over and secures with Velcro for added protection. The outside of the flap has a reflective strip that makes the pouch easier to see in an emergency if there’s dim lighting. The pouches also look really nice. Given the quality and functionality of this product, the current price of $23.73 seems like a really good value to me.

This is one of those products that you hope you never actually have to put to the ultimate test.I bought these to keep important documents, a little emergency cash, and other valuables together in one place, just in case the unexpected ever happens. Obviously I can't know how well this works without it having been through a fire. But, I thought this was a good idea to have because, in the event of a fire, I hopefully won't have to worry about replacing things like birth certificates, Social Security cards, or other important documents. As an added bonus, it's also nice knowing that everything is organized in one place. If I had time to grab it during an emergency, I could simply take this one envelope and know all of my important papers were together. If I wasn't able to grab it, it's still reassuring to know they're at least in something designed to help protect them.I think a fireproof safe is probably the best long-term option since it can hold bulkier items, but those are also much more expensive and not nearly as easy to move around. Depending on your needs, this is a practical, convenient, and more affordable solution. It comes with two smaller envelopes that are suggested for travel, but I can't see why I would need this on a plane. The zipper has a protective flap that is intended to offer water resistance. For home storage, though, I find this very useful and comforting to have.

I honestly have no way of testing a lot of the claims made by this product. What I can test is the practicality of using it and my research about some of their claims. I wanted to put trust documents and rarely used ID stuff into a safer location than just out on a shelf. I don't have space for a full on safe but wanted just a little extra protection compared to nothing. I was not able to fit a slim binder with the trust documents so I had to unbind them to get them in. The smaller ones easily fit 6 passports or 3 checkbooks. At about 4 checkbooks the velcro started to get hard to close. The zippers zipped nicely and the velcro was really heavy duty. All in all ok to use lightweight enough to travel with. But wish the document size bag was a bit oversized to allow for bound items. Pricing seems okay for what you get.Now for the claims the 5200 degrees fahrenheit struck me as really high. A quick google search told me that is the melting temp of tungsten carbide and a temperature achieved in the meltdown of three mile island. So I am a bit dubious about that one. The materials listed are silicone coated fiberglass which google says is good up to 1000 F so still great but not sure why they need to claim 5200.
