they would make for a much cleaner look than passing the cable through bare holes in the posts

[Color: Black, Set name: 50 Pack Protector Sleeves]
I have a 2nd floor deck that needed to be rebuilt and I was going to use cable railing. I ordered these for where the cables would need to pass through the posts that support the roof. I don't think it's strictly necessary to use this kind of protector sleeve - the cable could just go through a bare drilled hole - but I think these would make it look much nicer, and they would indeed help protect the wood posts from any abrasion over time. With all that in mind, I have to give these five stars because I think they would've done all of that. But in full disclosure, I ended up deciding to go with a hog panel type railing instead, so I can't speak from actual experience regarding how easy they are to use, or how they will wear over time. But by just looking at them, it all seems very straightforward and they are pleasantly heavy so I suspect they are a good product and I'd definitely consider using them for a cable railing system.Something review-readers should know about Vine reviews: Yes, we receive the product at no cost in exchange for an honest review, but 1) we do receive a tax form for “Non-Employee Compensation” reflecting taxable income based on the listed price of the items, and 2) I was instructed not to review items that I receive defective or damaged as it “may not be the fault of the seller/manufacturer” so ratings heavily influenced by Vine reviews may not account for a lack of product reliability. Just something to consider, as I know reviews guide my purchases and I appreciate taking all factors into consideration.

I love these and they are built like a tank! If you’re on the coast make sure you use 316 Stainless Steel! It’s considered marine grade and it light years better than it’s little brother 304 ss. 304 and 316 stainless steel differ primarily in corrosion resistance and cost, with 316 providing superior protection against chlorides (saltwater) due to added molybdenum. 304 is standard, versatile, and budget-friendly, ideal for indoor or fresh water use. 316 is "marine grade," better for coastal environments, chemical processing, and long-term harsh conditions. They are definitely high quality which can be seen by the 316 stainless steel material. I also really like the matt black finish. Mine came with the right sized drill bit which makes installing convenient! I hope you found this review helpful, and good luck on your project!

Great quality cable railing protector sleevesGreat quality cable railing protector sleeves

[Color: Black, Set name: 50 Pack Protector Sleeves, Color: Black, Set name: 50 Pack Protector Sleeves]
This set of cable railing protector sleeves are well made and work with 1/8” stainless steel wire rope. We are replacing our wood railing with a cable railing for a more modern updated look. This set of cable railing protector sleeves are perfect for the middle posts. All the sleeves are well made without burrs and consistent black finish. The set comes with an included drill bit, which is nice. I would suggest getting a 1x4 to make a jig to place on the post while drilling the holes on either side of the post and meet in the middle. Overall, this is a must have to have clean and professional cable railing installation.

Another solid offering from Railingo

[Color: Black, Set name: 50 Pack Protector Sleeves]
These cable railing fittings came packed together in a small box, shipped in a standard Amazon bubble mailer.Initial quality is good. They are nicely machined with no rough edges or burrs. The finish is even and seems to be pretty durable. I think they are going to hold up well!I'm in the process of accumulating all the parts for an outdoor deck railing project, and these are a solid value, especially considering how much these can cost with different manufacturers. I think they're going to help give our deck railing project a nice professional look. I will be using a drill press to drill all of my posts, so hopefully the holes will be consistent. These fasteners look great.Overall, I'm really happy with these and if you're considering cable rail project, you should check these out!

Excellent Steel Protector sleeves that really make a difference and a finished look!Excellent Ste...

I was looking for a way to run my cable wire through my 4x4 posts and have a much cleaner look instead of just the cable running through the post. These stainless steel protector sleeves do the trick and give it a more finished look. The protector sleeves are well made of steel and it includes a drill bit so that you get the exact size hole for the protector to slide into and allow the wire cable to freely go end to end. Installing these steel protectors is very simple once the hole is drilled, you simply slide your cable through the protector on both ends of the post and move on to the next post. It really does give it a more polished look and blends very well with my black posts.Overall, I am very pleased with the outcome of these protector sleeves and if you are looking for that finished look with your cable rail project, I would definitely recommend these. The price paid is an excellent value especially for the finished look.

Stainless Steel Protector Sleeve for 1/8 Inch Deck Cable Railing 50 Pack T316 Marine Grade

[Color: Black, Set name: 50 Pack Protector Sleeves]
RailinGo Black Stainless Steel Protector Sleeve for 1/8 Inch Deck Cable Railing 50 Pack T316 Marine GradeThese are black protective sleeves for 1/8 inch cable railing systems. The 50 pack includes T316 marine grade stainless steel sleeves and a drill bit for wood and composite posts.First, the 316 stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, and ductility for indoor and outdoor deck cable railing systems. The sleek black finish resists harsh outdoor weather, moisture, and daily wear while maintaining an attractive appearance.Second, the sleeves are designed to protect wood posts from wear and tear on the wire rope, reducing friction between the cable and the post to extend cable life. The sleeves are suitable for level intermediate wood or composite posts, not for angled or metal posts.Third, the precise dimensions are 0.8 inch total length, 0.48 inch flange diameter, and 0.258 inch inner diameter. Installation requires drilling holes with the matching drill bit, threading the protective sleeves onto the wire rope, and passing the cable through the post. The sleeves cover ugly holes after drilling for a clean, tidy cable railing system. This review is based on specification verification. I will update after installation and extended outdoor use to report on long-term durability and performance.

Consistent color and quality throughout the entire set

[Color: Black, Set name: 50 Pack Protector Sleeves]
I ordered these RailinGo cable protector sleeves for an arbor we put up using 1/8" black wire rope through 2x6 cedar rafters. The goal is an arbor that will support a large hardy kiwi vine — and it's working beautifully. Because the arbor will support a heavy vine that will move some in the wind, these protector sleeves are important for preventing abrasion in the wood over time. The quality of these cable sleeves is excellent — no dents, scratches, or flaws of any kind across the entire set. The black color matches perfectly with our black wire rope, though they would look equally sharp with stainless cable. The marine-grade stainless steel base metal gives me confidence they'll hold up well in my marine environment without rusting or degrading. The included drill bit is precisely sized for these sleeves — tight enough that they stay put once installed, but easy enough to push in by hand. We're working with rough-cut timber, so we occasionally used a small rubber mallet to ease them past frayed wood fibers around the holes, but it was rarely necessary.
