I ordered this Can Light Conversion Kit To Pendant - Recessed Light Converter Kit with E26 Socket Adapter so I could install a small ceiling fan in my office area. My little office area is a sunroom on the southern exposure and the room gets hot in the summer. I have two recessed can lights currently in place. This is the exact conversion kit I needed to bring power to the fan. The socket adapter fit perfectly into the existing socket. The metal brackets are sturdy enough to hold the weight of the fan. The matte black ring closes any gaps and the base cover for the fan looks great against the ring giving this change out a very professional look. Installation wasn’t difficult, but I had to give some thought as to how the light switch that controls the socket would work the fan. I decided I would always leave the pull chain for the fan’s light on and the fan off. This way I can turn the light on and off at the switch and manually turn the fan on by the second pull chain that powers the fan. This was a reasonably priced adapter…but what it has provided in the way of allowing installation of a ceiling fan is priceless.

I'm a big fan of conversion kits for can lights so you can hang something pretty. I've reviewed a couple other types and they all work. This kit only works on a certain kind of can, though, so won't be for everyone. If you have the correct type of can, I think this will be a good sturdy conversion because the materials are strong, not flimsy. I was surprised to find that the cover plate is strong metal. The other ones I have used have a plastic cover plate. The one thing that I find a little concerning is that the cover plate is a little on the heavy side and it doesn't have any means of attachment. It is held in place by the pressure of the fixture canopy being pulled in to the mounting bracket. That's all fine so long as you have confidence in your light fixture. It can't be a set up where your light is barely secured to the mounting bracket.Installation is really easy and straightforward. No screwing into the can required, like some of them, but it has to be the kind of can that has "inner torsion spring mounting tabs". The listing is misleading in that it says that this is a universal fit, but then when you open the package it says otherwise. Not all cans have these tabs.Great value for the money as this is a good quality product and easy to use. It is really fun to convert can lights to pendants or flush mount lights and kits like this make it very easy.

I ordered both the black and white versions, and both use the same heavy-gauge steel ring with an equally impressive finish.The rest of the hardware follows the same pattern.
