This 2-pack of 6x6 post bases is made from 8-gauge steel with a black powder-coated finish. The inner dimensions are sized for actual 5.5” x 5.5” posts (standard nominal 6x6 lumber). Each base has pre-drilled holes for anchor bolts and is intended for outdoor use on decks, pergolas, and fences. They are attractive, very heavy duty, and well made.I used the pair on two columns holding up the awning at the front door of my home. The squared columns dropped in with a snug fit and needed only minor shimming on one side. Once bolted down into the concrete posts, the bases held the posts plumb and solid with no movement when I applied lateral pressure to test them. The powder coating should hold up great outdoors.The steel feels like it is 10 gauge or thicker. The welds are clean and smooth, with the edges deburred before coating. These are not commercial grade, but for residential deck, pergola, fences, or other home-shop outdoor projects that need a simple, heavy-duty post-to-concrete anchor, this kit does the job reliably. I can recommend it for the same range of projects.

These are fantastic. I shouldn't have been surprised at how heavy these are, but I was. I will be installing these under my deck where I am updating supports under our 7-person hot tub. I don't think these are going anywhere, and I'm impressed by the coating quality. I don't expect rust or corrosion to be a problem. If you need some heavy-duty post bases, these will definitely do the job. If anything, the 8-gauge steel feels a bit overkill, and I am here for it.
