These mounting plates are exactly what I need for my basement and I didn't even know it. I've got an unfinished basement I need to put some can lights into the ceiling for. These are well made, not too expensive, will fit all sorts of spots and have a lot of adjustability. They look fine in silver but i'll paint them black and pop in some lights and be good to go.
These mounting plates are solid and pretty easy to work with. The galvanized steel feels sturdy and doesn’t bend easily, and the cutouts fit different sizes of wafer lights without any trouble. I’m using them with 6" lights, and they fit perfectly. They’re really handy during rough-in because they make it easier to line up the recessed lights and get everything in the right spot. The plates are all the same size, which makes installing multiple lights a lot easier. The 12-pack is also nice if you’re doing several rooms or a bigger project. Nothing fancy, but they definetely make recessed light installation easier.
I used these plates while laying out wafer lights before the drywall went up. The galvanized steel is stiff enough to hold its position, the round openings are consistent, and the plates make it much easier to leave a clear target for the final cutout. The pack of twelve is convenient for doing a whole room at once. My one caution is that the stamped metal edges are a little sharp, so gloves are a good idea when carrying and fastening them. These are a practical choice for new-construction wafer-light layouts; someone working through finished drywall will want a remodel-style solution instead.
I have purchased a number of plates from different brands and I have found this one to be the most versatile rough in plate that is out there. I like the fact that you can pick the size of can later after the drywall is up vs others that are single sized. These are very easy to use and they sit between the studs and the beams with virtually no added space at all. They are slim enough that I did not need to furr out any mud or the adjacent studs at all.So simple to install, yet they made such a difference when you are done and want to cut the holes. What never gets mentioned as an added advantage is that you can easily tape the romex to the side of the bracket so you know that you won't knick the wire when you drill open the hole later.Great product for my remodel!

The 24‑pack covered my whole main floor, and each bracket clicked my wafer lights into place with a perfect, gap‑free fit. Highly recommend for contractors.

This mounting plate made my rough‑in work way faster. The galvanized steel is rock‑solid, knockouts snap out clean for a perfect 4‑inch fit, and my ceiling stayed crack‑free. Best investment for a clean install.

This plate completely stopped drywall over‑cuts. The thick galvanized steel keeps the opening super strong, so my recessed lights sit flush with zero sag. Simple, sturdy, and gives a pro finish every time.
