I own an apartment overseas in the Middle East that I visit about 2 to 3 times a year. The front door has one of those accordion style shutter gates which I lock with a block padlock, like this one. That's because they are much more difficult than regular U-shaped padlocks to break open with a bolt cutter. The last time I was there, I had a little difficulty unlocking it, so I figured it was a good idea to buy a new one. However, because I leave my apartment unattended for months at a time, I really wanted to make sure I bought a quality lock.When the lock arrived, the first thing I noticed was the weight and how well-made the body felt. It is a wide block style lock and there is very little of the locking bar exposed when it is closed. That is exactly why I use this type of lock on my shutter gate instead of a regular padlock with a large U-shaped section sticking out of the top.I tried locking and unlocking it several times with a few of the included keys. The keys slid in without sticking, turned smoothly, and the lock closed firmly each time. And I really like getting five keys because I can keep several extras instead of worrying about losing my only spare while I am overseas.I think $26 is a good price for the quality of the lock. The block design gives someone much less exposed locking area to work with a bolt cutter than a regular U-shaped padlock. Most importantly for me, it feels well-made and the keys work smoothly. I definitely recommend it.

I needed an additional lock for my scooter that was heavy‑duty and extremely hard to remove without the key. I found it with this lock!This lock feels like a solid block of metal, weighing in at 2.43 lbs, and once secured there’s very little extra space to cut it or hammer off the pin. I use this lock daily by placing it on the frame of my scooter to prevent the rear wheel from rotating, and it sits perfectly so the axle bolts can’t be accessed. The lock is very easy to lock and unlock with the unique key design, and the five keys included are great since others use the scooter for work. One feature I really like is that you cannot remove the key until the pin is fully engaged and locked.Very happy with this lock — it adds that extra layer of security that’s needed in today’s world.

This is an incredibly heavy duty lock that would be difficult for a thief to break into. It weighs more than a pound with a solid metal body and a stainless steel shackle. It is a great deal and will find a use on one of my outbuildings. My only complaint/concern is that the shackle has a plated end piece milled out that makes is next to useless on anything else beside a bespoke application. I had originally got this to replace a my car trailer lock and while the shackle would fit through the ball lock, the end plate of the shackle is bigger and won't go through. The design of other locks like this have a bullet shaped end to the shackle that keeps it the same diameter as the shackle, this is just that much bigger. Other than that, it's a fantastic lock.

This is a seriously heavy duty lock. From the locking pin to the body it is solid, sturdy steel. All five keys slide in smooth and work well. My husband did note that the keys to have a satisfying click when turned and he was worried that would mean that the lock was not going to hold well but, I tried opening it without a key and with other keys though and it held great! The pin is on the thick side and, combined with the weight of the lock (~2lbs), you will want to make sure that whatever you want to lock with it can support both. Otherwise, it's a fantastic lock for a good price (currently $25.99).

Need to keep your items safe and secure in a shed or trailer? This is the lock for you. Expect heavy. Expect quality. You hold this lock in your hand and think "yeah nobody is breaking this puppy with a crowbar" and you'd be right. The weight of it when it arrives will surprise you. It's also very attractive for a locking mechanism. Polished silver finish to it make it quite appealing.Using one of the five (yes FIVE) keys provided to open the lock it feels more like a machine than a pad lock. Turning the key releases the sliding bar so you can pull it back out of the way. The bar itself states that it is hardened solid steel. I'd assume you're not going to use a bolt cutter to get past it right away. Once the bar is back in place and it's locked tight you also understand that a hammer and chisel aren't going to be an easy entry either. You rest at ease knowing this will protect your goods. So far as versatility this lock seems to be limited to a certain size opening or hasp. I'd measure the hole it will go through and check for opening clearance before I buy.Now about value for the money. At first, I was thinking "gee, what an expensive lock". However, after checking out the quality of this lock and comparing it to others on the market, it is very well priced for what it does.
