This is a big blanket. So far ive used it to prevent grinder sparks damage, and it did pretty well. It’s not super thick, it sort of looks like a tarp, and covers a large area. The edges have grommets, so it can be hooked, hung, stretched-adoptable to many different situations.

This welding blanket is by far my favorite one. This is 4’x6’ I believe but it is smaller than other heavy welding blankets. When welding inside a vehicle I can easily cover seats to prevent burns from flying metal. This really is an awesome size as you don’t have to fold and fold and fold so it isn’t in the way. Again this is the perfect size and my go to when I am working in small areas and need to protect the immediate surrounding area.

The ad photos make it look bigger than it is, so make sure you read the details and pick a blanket that suits your needs. The blanket I’m reviewing is 38x39 inches. The material is heavy, the finish is smooth so it resists particles clinging to it, and it has heavy brass grommets on the corners. I use magnetic based hooks and/or wire to hang the blanket to divert the sparks my angle grinder is putting out, and as a screen so my neighbor’s kids don’t fry their eyes watching me weld. This price is fair for this blanket, but if you are getting the larger 2-pack blankets, you can pick up others on Amazon for about $10 less.

I have an old fiberglass heat resistant blanket. I got it from another vendor (who's name sounds like horror freight). Its been fine, but I've always been dissapointed in how easily I burn holes in it. So when I got this one, my first question was: is more resistant to burning through?The answer: YES!In the video you'll see the new blanket (this product, black) on top of my old blanket (yellow-ish green). Both ar fiberglass heat resistant welding blankets. I use a small propane torch to heat both. I put a bit more heat on the new one, so as not to accidently give it an advantage. The label melts instantly, as one would expect. There's noticeably smoke coming off it; part of that I imagine is because the coatings from the manufacturing process. Then I do the same thing to the old one.Then I use some pliers and give both a little tug.This product did not tear. The old blanket instantly gives way and I can put my finger through it.This product does look a little singed where I put the torch directly on it, but IMO that is to be expected.I'm sure with enough heat it will burn through. But, in a quick test being deliberately harsher on this product vs. my old one, this product survived noticeably better.The current price of $18 is a bargain. This is easily 5 stars.

Welding makes sparks. Sparks make fires. Unplanned fires make me sad. So I got this blanket.It is heavy duty fiberglass. It is rated to 1022 degrees Fahrenheit. That is a very specific number. Not 1000. Not 1050. Exactly 1022. Somebody tested this. Somebody stood there with a thermometer and said "that is enough, Kevin, turn it off." I respect that.The thing is thick. The thing is tough. I throw it over anything I do not want to catch fire. My workbench. My floor. That one flammable box containing old, dry fireworks.Sparks land on it and just die. No drama. No little glowing spots creeping toward disaster. The blanket eats the heat and shrugs. Good blanket.It does not melt. It does not smell weird. It does not judge my welding. It just sits there and does its job, which is more than I can say for me.I already own the backpack sprayer. Now I own the blanket. My welding corner looks very prepared. My welds still look terrible. Two different problems.

This welding blanket arrived just yesterday. I do quite a bit of welding and repair on cars, so I needed this to isolate areas where I'm welding on the underside of vehicles and prevent potential fire hazard.It's not too thick to manipulate and position where you need it. The size is true to the product description, and the eyelets are crimped in very well. It is thick and rugged enough that I don't expect it to tear if it gets hung up on jagged autobody parts.Good price, good welding blanket. It's more the tarp style than some of the older ones. I'm happy with the purchase and should probably pick up a couple more for the shop. If you do much welding, these are great to have on hand, if not mandatory in some situations.
