No junction box, no electrician, no patching a hole in the ceiling unless you want it t. It comes with a couple of cord hooks and the wall mounts, so you route the 15 foot cord wherever you want it, run it along the ceiling to a corner, swag it over a nightstand or a reading chair, flat ceiling or sloped. The dimmer sits on the cord, 10 to 100 percent, so you set the mood without reaching up.Now the bulb. It takes a single reg bulb up to 40 watts. A woven shade drinks light, a good amount of it leaves as shadow instead of room brightness, so I got one of the brighter leds I could find to make it still functional.For the money it's a lot of look, and the plug-and-hang setup means it goes up in ten minutes anywhere there's an outlet. if you want to hard wire it, it's not that hard to adapt it.
