EXTREMELY USEFUL SOLID COPPER TOOL FOR MIG WELDING!!!EXTREMELY USEFUL SOLID COPPER TOOL FOR MIG W...

[Color: Flat, Color: Flat]
The Gloxyuni Copper Spoon Welding Backer is a must-have for enhancing structural stability during high-temperature welding operations. It is engineered for precision spot welding and optimized thermal transfer. The thick copper plate prevents sticking and burning through on thin metals allowing for efficient MIG welding by enabling precise spot welds without cutting scrap metal inserts. We used this on a recent metal-welding project and it worked great!!! Definitely saved us a lot of time/head scratching in trying to find the right scrap pieces, haha, and made cleanup a breeze. This tool is the perfect size and it fits comfortably in my hand. The handle is made from heat-resistant plastic and features a stainless steel dual-bolt design for structural stability during high-temperature welding. The copper spoon conducts heats evenly and shields the underlying surface from direct heat exposure with the thick copper absorbing excess heat and protecting against burn through. I feel great knowing that the copper is absorbing all excess heat so I can pay attention to welding properly rather than worrying about making any mistakes, haha. This is indeed a solid backing surface that is very useful for safer and more manageable welding. The molten weld metal does not bond to copper. Cleanup is so much easier. This definitely makes welding easier and cleanup quicker. I am thrilled to have found a tool that gives me more control and makes welding more manageable. This tool looks great, works great and is a great addition to my welding supplies. I am very happy with it and highly recommend it.

Improves Welding Thin Metal

[Color: Flat]
After mig welding for 20 years, I didn't even know this existed. I guess that's the risk of self-taught. I wish I had this from day one, what a game-changer for butt welds and repairs on thin metal. It's so difficult to get the correct power and speed on a mig welder, this is like cheating, I need every advantage I can get.

Does what it's supposed to, but needs modificationDoes what it's supposed to, but needs modification

[Color: Flat, Color: Flat]
These copper backing spoons make it easier for a novice like me to do butt welds in thin sheet metal. They pull heat from the work piece, and provide a solid surface to prevent the wire from pushing through, especially when I've got the wire feed speed set too high. These are solidly built. They should hold up over time. The handle is heat resistant plastic, similar to a cooking pan. The metal piece between the handle and copper spoon is made of steel.I made the mistake of just ordering the single flat one instead of the set. Don't cheap out, get the set of 3. The rounded one is especially useful in constricted spaces, and on metal that isn't flat.It doesn't sit flushAs you'll see in my last pic, the nut and screw that hold the copper plate to the handle can be reversed to allow the spoon to sit more flush on your work piece. It still doesn't sit flush on a flat surface though. The fasteners stick out too far. They should have countersunk the copper spoon and used matching screws. I decided to just flatten the spoon and then re-bend it a little further from the handle. Now it sits perfectly flush on a flat surface.4/5 stars. Good tool, but needs modification to sit flush on a flat surface.

Must have tool for clean welds

[Color: Flat]
This copper spoon backer makes filling holes and welding flat seams so much easier. It dissipates heat fast, prevents burn through, and weld puddle won't stick to it at all. It saves a ton of cleanup and grinding time. Durable and well made.

Provides Stable Support for Thin Metal Work

[Color: Flat]
I used this flat copper welding backer while repairing a small section of thin sheet metal, and it performed reliably. The copper plate has enough thickness to stay steady against the workpiece, and it handled heat without warping or sticking. The fastening setup kept the plate from shifting, which made it easier to control the weld pool. The size is practical for bench work and small repairs, and the overall build feels durable for repeated use.One thing I noticed is that the handle is on the bulkier side, which can make positioning a little tricky in tighter spots. Still, the tool offers good value for the price, especially if you work with thin metals where burn through is a concern. It helped me get cleaner results and reduced the amount of rework I usually have to do on patch repairs.

Solid Welding Backer Tool With a Unique Fastening DesignSolid Welding Backer Tool With a Unique F...

[Color: Flat, Color: Flat]
I ordered this copper spoon welding backer to use for small metal repair projects, and the dual‑bolt fastening immediately stood out. The style is different from others I’ve seen on the market, but so far it feels stable and secure during use.The thick copper plate works well for spot welding. It helps prevent sticking and burn‑through on thinner metals, which is exactly what I needed.I’ve tried it on a couple of small auto body patches and a few DIY metal fixes, and it handled each scenario without issues. The design feels practical, and the build quality seems solid. It makes welding easier, although I question the durability of the handle in the long-run.Overall, the fastening style is a nice change, and the tool performs well for the type of welding work I do.
