Heavy Duty Garage Wall Shelves

These Heavy Duty Garage Wall Shelves (2 pack) are each 4’ wide by 2’ deep and when installed as directed they are indeed heavy duty and can hold a lot of weight. Installation is not quick and easy as you must determine exactly where your studs are and whether or not the studs are on 16” centers or 24” centers. Even after determining exactly where the studs are the wall shelf design does NOT allow for any flexibility or variances so based on my experience with this product I highly recommend mounting the shelves to the wall brackets first to establish the precise location for the mounting holes. I did this project by myself but having two people doing the installation is the way to go. Once you have the shelves held in position, aligned with the studs and level, mark each hole location then move the shelves away to pre-drill each mounting hole. Doing this will allow you to remove the shelves from the wall brackets for a relatively easy installation of the wall brackets (do not fully tighten yet) and then reinstallation of the shelves since positioning of the shelves on the brackets must be precise. Once the shelves have been tightened down onto the wall brackets, the wall brackets can be fully tightened onto the wall which provides really good stability. Like I said, installation is not quick and easy but when done correctly these shelves can hold an immense amount of weight. While the quality of these shelves is really good, I feel that the price is a bit high so the value is just okay.

These are substantial shelves and a great way to add storage without giving up any floor space. I put them in my basement workshop for tools and heavier equipment, and once mounted they feel extremely solid. The metal shelves and brackets are much sturdier than the typical lightweight garage shelving I have used.The 2 by 4 foot size also gives you a lot more storage area than you might expect, so I would definitely measure the wall before ordering. They work especially well above a workbench or other area where the wall space would otherwise go unused.Installation is probably the biggest thing to be aware of. The mounting holes and shelf brackets do not give you much flexibility, so existing stud spacing can make things more difficult than it should be. In my case this was not a major issue because I was able to mount them exactly where I wanted, but I can see how installation could become frustrating if your studs do not line up perfectly. I would recommend leaving everything a little loose until all of the hardware is started and aligned.Once they are up, though, they are excellent. I have no concerns putting heavy tools and equipment on them, there is no noticeable sagging, and the black metal looks much cleaner than plastic shelving.These feel like something that will be permanently mounted in my workshop for a very long time. Great shelves as long as you take your time with the installation.

These are very nice overall and an ok value for the money. They are very durable feeling and have some weight to them so they should hold up to some heavy garage or shop things to store away. They hang as easily as any other shelf in my opinion. They have the hardware to do the job and feel sturdy enough if you find the 2x4 for sure. Once they are up they don't move around they hold in place and shouldn't accidentally start sliding off. They are holding plenty of weight right now and seem fine. I think the gaps between the wires could be smaller but they aren't a problem of any kind for storing. Overall good quality and very durable and seems like an ok value.

The heavy-duty garage wall shelves are a great way to add serious storage without taking up more floor space. The 2 x 4 ft size gives you plenty of room for bins, tools, seasonal items, automotive supplies, and all the other things that tend to pile up in a garage.The metal construction feels solid, and once properly mounted, the shelves are very sturdy. I especially like the wall-mounted design because it lets you use the space above workbenches, cabinets, or other equipment that would otherwise be wasted.Installation is straightforward, although I definitely recommend taking the time to locate the studs and make sure everything is level before tightening it down. I put these in my basement. I didn't have the same installation chalenges others here mentioned because I built floor to ceiling studs to match this shelf rather than trying to make the sheld match existing studs. I do see what they're saying with the hex screws though. Still, the went up pretty quickly for me and they are very strong. I have them holding up some of my welding gear and other tools. They could hold so much more (like me, my wife, and a couple kids).On top of that, they look pretty good too! They're a little bigger than I expected, only because I'm an idiot and didn't actually measure out 2' x 4'. Still, I have plenty of room and I think these things will be a permanent fixture in my basement for many decades.

These shelves are heavy duty and add a nice touch t our garage. Originally, I planned on storing our boating toys on them, but I shifted and decided to use them to store tools. I was able to add most of my tools without any sagging or issues. They look much better than a plastic shelving unit too.Installation is not the easiest with these shelves. Each shelf comes with 2 brackets that attach to the wall, but two 4 foot shelf pieces that attach to these brackets. The shelves have pre-drilled holes that must line up with the brackets, or the shelf will just sit on top of the brackets. The issue is that these holes do not provide any give, should your studs not be exactly 16" apart, or if the stud is twisted, etc. When installing my first shelf, my studs were just under 32" apart. I did not think it would be an issue. I was wrong. The pre-drilled holes did not align exactly, so the screws to hold the shelves to the brackets would not catch the threads in the holes. I had to back the bolts out of the wall brackets and tilt the brackets to make the middle holes to match. After this, the end holes would not match, as the brackets were tilted to accommodate the middle holes. To rectify this, I took a ratchet strap around the end of the brackets to pull them closer together and thread the end screws into the shelves.After that fiasco, I figured I would try to attach the shelves to the brackets first, then attach to the wall. This cannot be done, as the decided to put one of the hex bolt locations at the back, just low enough that a wrench or socket cannot be used to tighten into the wall. Plus, there are little latches that prohibit one from slightly lifting the back of the shelf up to reach this hex bolt. So, I had to go through the exact same process for the second shelf. Even though my studs were exactly 32" on center, the pre-drilled holes still did not line up perfectly. What should have been a 30 minute project took almost 2 hours.Others may not have this issue, as our home is older, so we have a bit more settling than most other homes. Once installed, I was really happy with the shelves. They can serve several purposes,

These are made from quality material, shelf's made out of metal channel material, steel brackets. Received four 2 feet wide four feet long metal shelf's and four steel brackets a bag of screws and limited assembly instructions.You would think that hanging shelf's should be easy, but it was not. It took way more time than it should. First the instructions advise you to attach the brackets to the wall studs because of the rated load weight. Makes sense, I discovered that in my garage I have 24 inch spaced studs. The direction state no problem because these are "designed to work on studs spaced 16 inch or 24 inch." I could not get the shelf's to fit when I put the brackets on my 24 inch spaced studs, The problem is that the shelf's have pre-drilled and threaded holes in the bottom of the shelf that connects the shelf to the wall brackets and these holes are at 33 inches. ( Roughly the holes are 8 inches in from each end of the shelf.) To solve my problem of not being able to hit studs with both wall brackets I installed a 60 inch wooden cleat that spanned across the studs and was screwed into the studs. Now the shelf brackets can be screwed into the wall without needing to hit my wall studs. Next observation I will offer is that when screwing everything together try not to tighten the screws until it is all assembled, I found that the pre-drilled holes in the shelf's that I received are not a perfect line up to the holes in the shelf brackets.Once together these are strong, but they should label the left and right shelf brackets with a little sticker. The shelf's look nice. Giving this three stars because the quality control on the pre-drilled holes needs to be improved and assembly instructions need to be improved.

These are substantial garage shelves that provide a lot of storage to get stuff off of your floor. The metal construction feels sturdy once everything is mounted, and the large surface area gives plenty of room for storage bins, tools, and other bulky garage items. Installation takes a little time since you obviously want something rated for this much weight secured properly to the wall, and you have to pre-drill holes as the lag bolts are very large, but that's good to safely support the intended weight. The finished shelves feel quite solid. The black finish looks clean and suits a garage or workshop well. You'll want to carefully measure the mounting points and set your width to the width between the screw holes for the flat shelves themselves, not just the width of the holes for the lag bolts, as there is about a 1/2" difference between the two (ask me how I found out). My fault for not realizing this, though it would have been nice if they perfectly lined up. Still, great shelves, and one of the few 300+ pound rated items I've gotten on here that I can confidently say would actually support this kind of weight.
