I got this post to mount a little free library at the end of my driveway, and it worked out perfectly. It's heavy and sturdy, so I had no concerns about it supporting the weight of the library. The finish is a nice black matte. It arrived well packaged without any scratches, dents, or chipped paint, so it looked great right out of the box. Installation was straightforward, and once it was in the ground it felt very solid. Even though it's designed for mailboxes, it's sturdy enough to hold larger items without any problem.
