Digital Torque Wrench

There is quite a bit to like about this digital torque wrench, but it has a few glaring issues. The reduction of two stars is based upon three main issues:1) the font size of the units on the screen. If I were to guess it is like size 8 font aka very small2) If you don't use this torque wrench often, you may need to read the instructions on how to change the torque unit settings. Also I could never seem to get it to get it to set a torque limit reading from ft/lbs. I had to start in N/m then flip it over to ft/lbs and see where I was at. Then if too high or low, switch back to N/m and do it over again. I suppose I could have looked up the equivalent on my phone, but when doing mechanic work my hands are often greasy. And the3) If you are not using this tool often, it tells you to remove the batteries. I would have appreciated an easier to remove cover when that is the requirement.I really did like the digital display for the numbers. The numbers are large enough to easily read. When testing it against my other torque wrenches, it seems very accurate. I do also like the fact that you can measure ft/lbs and inch/lbs quite easily by pressing a few buttons.The ratchet head appear well made and could take quite a bit of force without issue. The 72 teeth head is smooth and provides adequate swing arch. The socket release also holds the sockets/extensions well. The case is also well designed to keep the tool safe.There are quite a few things to like, but Disen makes a 3 pack click torque wrench set that costs less than this one. That to me is a better deal.

Talk about lucky coincidence. My granddaughter has a kit with all the various driver bits/tips for the fasteners of her car, but she didn't have a ratchet for them. This, therefore, makes a perfect gift. Not only a ratchet to match her set but she can set torque as well. Automotive fasteners always have specific torques.I don't find information on materials used in the construction of the wrench. The product page is focused on torque range and readout features. The sockets and extension are Chrome-Vanadium or Cr-V, with a chrome finish. That's standard for this type of tool. It's safe to assume the body of the wrench is Cr-V, as well. It's also likely the ratchet mechanism is Chrome-Molybdenum or Cr-Mo, a stronger steel than Cr-V. The hard plastic is likely ABS. The grip, Neoprene. I've previously reviewed Disen ratchets and those are their usual standards.The electronics are those found typically in these torque wrenches; presets, memory functions, alarms, etc.Where I would normally gripe about the sockets being metric, they're perfect for her car.It's a pro level tool. Only complaint is replacing batteries vs rechargeable battery pack.price is slightly less than similar.

I got this mainly for lug nuts and suspension work on my 2003 Chevy Silverado, but its 12.5 to 250.8 ft-lb range also makes it useful around my tractor and skid steer. This is a full-size 1/2-inch torque wrench with a long handle, so it gives me plenty of leverage on higher-torque fasteners. The 72-tooth ratchet turns smoothly, the quick-release head holds sockets securely, and the rubber grip is comfortable when I have to pull hard. After spending a few minutes with the manual, the digital controls were straightforward. I can choose between five measurement units, watch the torque in real time, or use peak mode and save readings. I especially like being able to set upper and lower limits: the display turns blue and gives a slow beep as I reach the lower setting, then turns red with faster beeps if I go past the upper limit. That is much easier to notice when I am working under a vehicle than trying to feel a subtle click. The wrench came with a calibration certificate and a sturdy molded case, and the listed 2% accuracy is appropriate for the automotive and equipment work I use it for. At $75.39, I think this is a very good price for a digital wrench with this much range and the included case. It is not the right wrench for small low-torque fasteners because its minimum is 12.5 ft-lb, but for wheels, suspension, and heavier work it fits my needs very well. I would overall recommend it!

I have purchased over 25 tool kits from DISEN and I like their product quality for the price. This 3/8" digital torque wrench comes in a blow molded plastic case with 3/8" sockets (14mm, 16mm, 17mm, 21mm), 1/4" adapter, 1/2" adapter, and a 6-inch extension bar. The ratchet has a push button quick-release design and reversible 72-tooth ratchet that is fairly short overall for a tool rated to 6.8-135 Newton-meters or 5-99.6 foot pounds. The accuracy is listed as ±2% but no certificate of accuracy was included. It displays torque values in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions. The tool has a backlit LCD screen that displays real-time torque, direction, and battery level. In TRACK mode, the display shows real-time torque as you apply force. PEAK mode captures and holds the maximum torque value that you have applied. This DISEN wrench supports 5 measurement units: Newton-meters, Foot pounds, Inch pounds, Kilogram-force centimeter, and Kilogram force meter. You can switch units with the press of the U/T button. As you approach your preset torque value: between 85% and 90% of the target, one green LED flashes slowly with long-interval beeps; between 90% and 100%, two green LEDs flash rapidly with short-interval beeps; at 100% or above, red LEDs stay lit constantly with a continuous buzzer. This is the biggest advantage of these type of torque wrenches is that you are given audio and visual warnings as you approach your targeted torque setting and solid lights and continuous tones when you reach your target.This is a nice kit with sockets, adapters and a 3/8" extension. It also came with batteries but the two AAA batteries only weighed 13 grams so I replaced them with some of my own that weighed twice as much. The device is not intuitive to use so the instructions are essential to have. The overall length is fairly short for a torque wrench that is capable of almost 100 foot pounds. I previously bought another brand's 3/8" torque wrench that was slightly longer but it would only read to 44 foot pounds. That tool is really limited as to the range of fasteners. This tool will torque most lug nuts as long as they are 99 foot pounds or less. This would include all of my vehicles including my truck. The plastic handle is comfortable but I don't know how durable hard plastic will be for this type of tool. I like this DISEN brand and I like this tool but for this price you could buy a quality mechanical 3/8" torque wrench that is certified as to its accuracy.

This digital torque wrench immediately gives the impression of being a quality tool. From the moment I picked it up, I could feel the solid construction and the precision with which it was manufactured. There are no rough edges, loose components, or cheap-feeling parts—everything fits together exactly as it should, giving the wrench a very confidence-inspiring feel.The ratchet mechanism operates smoothly, and the digital display is bright and easy to read. This Disen 3/8" digital torque wrench is a rather nice tool. The first thing I attempted to validate was the accuracy of this torque wrench. The only way I know how to do this is to use good old-fashioned mechanical torque wrench and then torque a bolt to a specific torque and then compare it to the reading on this digital meter.In the accompanying video to this review that's exactly what I did. I found the wrench to be fairly accurate I would say within plus or minus 10% as a guesstimate although please consider I'm working with several unknowns here IE: a mechanical torque wrench with an unknown accuracy.So again assuming everything's calibrated properly I would say this digital torque wrench is accurate plus or minus 10%.There's major issue with the product and that issue is the user manual. It looks like the user manual covers about 10 different torque wrenches, mentions buttons that don't exist on the product, and fails to identify how to set a specific target torque range. With this functionality, which I could never get to work because of the poor instructions, as you approach a preset torque value the wrench will beep in rapid fashion increasing in frequency until you hit the target range at which point it will emit a continuous high-pitched tone.This digital torque wrench runs on two AAA alkaline batteries, which are included in the package.Inside the very nice plastic storage case they also give you a couple of adapters 3/8 to 1/2 in and 3/8 to 1/4 in as well as a 6 cents 3/8 extension and a stubby Philips screwdriver. The socket sizes they provide are some of the most useless metric sockets I've ever seen in my life. They don't even include a 10 mm but rather give you I guess what were spare or loose sockets because they picked random sizes. Those sizes are 14, 16, 17, 21 mm - very odd.With the user manual addressing seven different types of torque wrenches I'm not or I wasn't sure which one it applied to I had to consult the Amazon listing to dig up the model number.The user manual mentions Bluetooth settings however and again the user manual is very poorly written and I don't see any Bluetooth functionality. User manual also mentions multiple buttons that do not exist on the torque wrench.Anyway I'm just nitpicking because the wrench is good and I do like it It also comes with a 12-month warranty and it seems that this company Disen is rapidly becoming a major tool distributor/manufacturer?
