This folding steel ruler has measurement marks in both inches and centimeters with precision marks at 1/8" or 0.5mm.This item came with the folding ruler and 2 pencils. The pencils are standard pencils with a plain aesthetic and have attached erasers. The ruler measures approximately 24" in length or 60.8cm when unfolded. It folds in half and folded it measures approximately 13" in length. On one side of the ruler there are measurement marks in inches with precision marks at 1/8". The other side has centimeters with marks at every 0.5mm through 10cm at which point the marks are spaced at 1mm. The two pieces of the ruler are attached with a rivet on the pivot. The ruler is approximately 0.75" in width and each half is approximately 0.05" thick.Using the ruler, it is easy to read the measurement marks and I appreciate having both inches and centimeters. It folds and unfolds smoothly. The side is very straight and works well for marking wood or other materials. And because it's folding it stores more compact than a 24" ruler would.

I often find myself measuring things in my tinkering garage, and while my trusty 12-inch steel ruler gets the job done most of the time, every now and then I run into something where 12 inches just isn’t enough. That’s what caught my attention with this 24-inch folding ruler.The best part is that it folds in half, so the entire 24-inch ruler fits nicely in the drawer of my toolbox without requiring me to reorganize the garage just to store a ruler. The connecting rivet holds the two halves together tightly with very little, if any, movement. That’s important because a folding ruler is only useful for longer measurements if the joint doesn’t introduce a bunch of slop into the measurement.The ruler is made from stainless steel and is a little thicker than a typical steel ruler, so I expect it to survive the usual abuse that my tools receive. The measurements are nicely engraved and the lines are clear and easy to read.For a ruler that gives me 24 inches of measuring capability while only taking up about 13 inches of toolbox space, I’m pretty happy with it. It’s a simple tool, but sometimes simple tools are the ones you reach for the most.

I like this ruler, but there are a few things that make me not love it.Pros:* Accurate. I compared this to my trusted ruler, and the imperial and metric markings are on the money.* Nicely built with high quality steel.* Compact to store.* Markings on both edges, so you can use it "upside down".Cons:* I don't find it very readable, unless light is reflecting directly onto the marking. I much prefer white lettering on a dark color background.* Anytime you use it to measure, you have to unfold. This is because the 0 to 12" is on the bottom. I'd much prefer it if 11-24 were on the bottom, so if you need to measure something 12" or less, you don't have to unfold.* Not really accurate if you try to use it as a straight edge over 12". You have to ensure it's unfolded exactly 180 degrees.In summary, this won't replace my steel yard ruler, but will complement my measuring tools.

Top quality tool for precise measurements. For shorter lengths, obviously not for framing or larger projects. This folding ruler lets you solve a problem I often have, namely, that the longer rulers I use for carpentry projects are unwieldy -- no place to set them down and they tend to fall over when propped up. The ruler itself is very heavy construction, not the thin stainless steel ones you sometimes see. The hinge is robust and impressively, the two sides of the ruler line up well where they overlap, so accuracy is not an issue. The ruler has metric indications on one side and a 1/16" scale on the other. When folded, it can be used as a one foot ruler. though you'll be measuring from 12" to 24" (the metric scale is right -- not sure why they couldn't flip the inch scale so it began at zero as well). The one issue I have is that the edges are kind of sharp. Not razor sharp or anything, but sharp enough so that I feel like I could get a cut if a finger dragged along the edge and pressure was on it. Not an issue to deduct stars for but something to be aware of. Wish it had a hole in the end for hanging up, I may drill one that will not interfere with the markings so I can hang it on my shop wall. Overall, this is a well-made precise measuring tool that is accurate, durable, and convenient for woodworking, construction, DIY projects, or everyday use.

I’ve done so many projects around the house lately where it would have been convenient to have a ruler longer than 12”. As soon as I saw this 24” folding ruler, I was hoping this ruler and I could complete many more future projects together!I’ve never worked with a folding ruler before, so I wondered if my pencil would catch on the fold instead of gliding smoothly across it.The ruler arrived packaged in foam with not one, but two sharpened pencils! I don’t have any pencil sharpeners worth a darn in my house, so this pleased me very much! The erasers work pretty well too. I could still see a slight trace of the line afterward, but I had gone over it twice, so the line was a little darker to begin with.The ruler measures 12” when folded but easily unfolds to a full 24”. The two sections are connected by a riveted piece at the 12” mark, so instead of the number 12, you see the rivet. The connection feels sturdy, and I’m not worried about it coming apart from repeated folding and unfolding.I drew a line along the full length to test my concern about the fold. The pencil glided right across where the two sections meet without a bump or catching, and the line was nice and smooth!It’s made from stainless steel and is quite a bit narrower than the standard rulers I’m used to. Narrow stainless steel objects make me a little nervous after a previous experience lol, but thankfully there aren’t any sharp edges to be concerned about.I love that it’s compact but gives me another full foot of measuring space when I need it. It feels sturdy, the measurements seem to be on point, and I can’t wait to use it the next time I need to measure and cut wallpaper or window film!

I'm always on the lookout for tools to help with the most important aspect of furniture-making; the measurements. This folding ruler is well made, and the unit markings are all clear and well defined. The one side is in inches with very clear 1/16th markings and the other is in 1 millimeter units. It also comes with two nice (short) pencils that are really sharp and produced sharp, clear lines. I often need to trace certain angles at specific lengths, and although there's no locking mechanism, this ruler held an angle nicely and was easy to use to mark a measured angle. The edges of the ruler are also very sharp and crisp and there's no bowing of any kind. We'll have to see how the steel holds up, but right now, it seems like a good tool to have in my workshop.
