The concept is better than the execution for this product because the auger needs to have a beveled leading edge to allow it to drive easier. I didn’t want to burn out my drill if I hit a tree root or large rock, so I used the T-handle and body weight to drive it into the ground. I ended up hitting a rock and it took some time to pass it, but it literally bored the hole out smooth so there was no bite into the ground. I think if you’re careful with where you decide to put these, they’ll work great, but my application didn’t work so well. I’d recommend using a screw drive, shovel, or rebar to start a pilot hole, or a rubber mallet and a scrap piece of wood to protect the auger head. I went with the 18”-version knowing that our type of terrain wouldn’t let us go any deeper. Overall, I would recommend the product as long as the soil conditions can support it. Once installed, the product was sturdy and durable, so good value for the money. I can see these having a variety of helpful uses.

First off unless you have a very powerful drill you will not get it all the way in the ground. It will be a good start and we have sandy soil. Just used the included spinner bar 'wrench'. Otherwise, they seem pretty durable and seem to hold well. They have an orange rubber cap to put on them when you take out the eyelet to mow or over the winter if you take it down. Helps you find them to put eyelet back on. The ratchet straps seem pretty nice as well. I sank them so the top, without the eyelet, was just above the ground so they wouldn't be in the way when mowing.
