Soft Close undermount Drawer Slides

In various projects over recent years I've had occasion to use a variety of soft close undercount drawer slides like this. Some were top line "name brand" and others generic or house brand. As far as I have been able to tell, the closing mechanism and metal parts have been fairly equivalent among all of them. The differences have mostly been apparent in the molded drawer attachments and adjusters. The biggest plus to using the name brand systems is the availability of assistive jigs, which can be helpful when you have a bunch to install. Though you can make your own jigs for any system.I'm quite impressed with these slides- I like the ratcheting type attachment on the part that attaches to the drawer. This makes it easier to tell when you have the drawer actually engaged with the slide. It makes removal and replacement of the drawers easier than others I've used.A BIG bonus for including a clear, legibly printed instruction sheet. If you don't use these types of slides frequently the process can be confusing, and knowing you need to start planning to fit these mounts when you make your drawers and case is important.The price- about $80 for 6 16" slides at present- is outstanding for what appears to be a quality product.

I received this through Vine, and they work smoothly for frameless cabinets. The full-extension design provides complete access to the drawer, and the soft-close feature quiets the closing action nicely. They feel solid and well-made from thickened cold-rolled steel with a zinc-plated finish.Installation was straightforward with the included screws, 3D adjustable locking devices, and instructions. No rear mounting brackets are included.These undermount soft-close slides are durable, quiet, and reliable when the measurements match. Highly recommend for compatible drawers!

These undermount drawer slides worked well for my project and were fairly straightforward to install. The soft-close feature operates smoothly, and the full-extension design allows the drawer to come out far enough to easily access everything inside. I also like that the slides are concealed underneath the drawer, giving the finished cabinet a much cleaner appearance than traditional side-mount hardware. The locking devices and brackets feel sturdy once everything is properly installed and adjusted. The 16-inch length was exactly what I needed, and the adjustment options made it easier to get the drawer aligned correctly. Overall, these are solid drawer slides that provide smooth operation and a clean finished look.

We recently remodeled our bathroom and the vanity came with one set of defective drawer slides. I double checked the measurements before ordering. The drawer box was exactly 16 inches and these matched the slides in the other boxes.This hardware is well made and was easy to replace. The drawer works like new.

I make my own custom cabinetry and in the course of doing so have installed a lot of Blum Tandem undermount drawer slides. Blum is really the company that created the market for high end soft close undermount drawer slides and they continue to be one of the largest players in that market.So, when I saw these Betesy soft close undermount drawer slides, I was a bit skeptical. After investing a lot of time and money building custom cabinets, drawer slides aren't where you want to cheap out. But, after inspecting these slides, I'm pretty impressed. They're made from a beefy gauge steel comparable to what Blum uses. They open and close smoothly and quietly, and the soft close mechanism is effective at dampening the drawer when closing. The locking clips that mount to the underside of the drawer box and hold the drawer box to the slides have three way adjustability: left/right, up/down and in/out. I can't say exactly how much adjustment room they provide since that's not part of their specs.Interestingly, Betesy seems to have innovated upon Blum's design a little. Where Blum's slides have a fixed "pin" at the back of the slide that inserts into a hole in the back of the drawer box, Betesy has designed this pin to be part of a spring loaded mechanism (see my close up photos) that still inserts into a hole in the back of the box but apparently also reduces/eliminates any play between the back of the drawer box and the pin mechanism. On the Blum mechanism sometimes you can get a bit of play that can make adjusting the drawer fronts a little bit of a moving target, so this is a nice innovation to see from Betesy.It's nice that this set includes not only the necessary locking clips, but also mounting screws, all in one package so you have everything you need.Now, the true test of any drawer slide isn't just how it performs in the days after you install it; it's how it holds up over years and years of use (and in some cases) abuse. I don't have enough run time to say how these will hold up, so my advice (and I say this regardless of what brand/style drawer slides you use) is to get a few extras so you have spares in case you have problems down the road.Are there any limitations of these drawer slides? First and foremost, these don't come with any instructions or specifications that I could find. That means you're on your own and need to piece together the information based on some of the photos in the product listing for such specs as drawer box dimensions, location and size of the notch at the back of the drawer box for the slide and the location and size of the hole you need to drill in the back of the drawer box for the "pin" on the slide to slide into. As it is, undermount drawer slides like these can be intimidating for newbies or DIYers. If you've used Blum Tandem slides in the past, there's not a big learning curve to using these, but still they should be providing sufficient specs and installation instructions that these slides can stand on their own rather than relying on user experiences with other manufacturer's slides.These slides are rated for 70 lbs. The equivalent Blum slides are rated for 100 lbs, so these Betesy's, in theory, can't handle quite as much weight. Of course, I don't think I've ever really loaded up a drawer with 100 lbs, so that may be overkill.I would also like to see these offered in a version that can accommodate 3/4" thick drawer box sides. This version only supports 1/2" to 5/8" thick drawer box sides. It's a personal preference, but I like to use 3/4" material for my drawer boxes to make them extra sturdy.The key question here is "Do these slide provide good value?" I think they do. Even at the cheapest sources for Blum Tandem slides, a pair of Blum slides would cost about $20-25 for a single set of slides and locking clips. This Betesy set of 6 pairs of slides with locking devices cost $93 at the time I ordered it, resulting in a cost of a little under $16 per pair of slides. That's a decent cost savings. (I will note, however that the single pair sets of Betesy slides currently cost between $22 and 29, which doesn't really compare favorably to the cost of a set of Blum slides). If you're in the market for a multi-pack of slides, I think these are a sold value.

These undermount drawer slides are a good option for narrow but tall areas in your kitchen. They are strong enough to use for a full cabinet height pull out so you can utilize that awkwardly narrow space next to your stove or tucked into a corner.

As someone who enjoys woodworking and has built several desks and other furniture pieces, I know quality drawer-slide hardware is essential. Poor materials can quickly undermine an otherwise well-made project.These 16-inch undermount drawer slides are well made and highly versatile, with several mounting options built into the slide. The set includes screws, left and right slides, and quick-release mounting clips, making it easier to remove the drawer when items inevitably fall behind it. The soft-close mechanism works well, gently pulling the drawer shut over the final few inches instead of letting it slam into the furniture face.Overall, these drawer slides are an excellent choice for new furniture builds or for replacing worn slides on an existing piece.

This is a nice set of undermount soft-close drawer slides. They perfectly fit the application I obtained them for and the slide mechanism works very smoothly. The soft close mechanism also works pretty well, though sometimes it feels like you have to fight to get it to release from fully closed.
