SDS Plus Chisel Set

I recently had a small project where I had to remove tile that was secured to the subfloor with cement, and it was a real pain trying to break it free with a sledgehammer and chisel. So when I saw this 4-piece SDS Plus chisel bit set, I knew I had to have it.I haven’t actually had a chance to use these bits yet, but I did test-fit one in my hammer drill, and it appeared to fit perfectly. The chisels also arrived in good condition, with no noticeable anomalies, dents, or surface imperfections.Based on the quality of the construction and the functionality these should provide, I expect them to hold up well for years of occasional DIY use. Having several different chisel styles in one set is also convenient since different jobs call for different approaches.I haven’t put them to the ultimate test yet, but everything I’ve seen so far looks promising. Based on the quality and functionality, I’m giving these 5 stars.

This is now the third set of bits I have gotten from this maker, and they continue to impress me with both performance and value. I picked this set up mainly for concrete and tile removal, and it has handled everything I have thrown at it so far.Having four different chisels in one kit is a huge advantage. It makes it easy to switch between breaking up material, cleaning edges, scraping, or detail work without stopping to grab another tool. The longer length also gives good reach, which helped a lot in tighter spots where keeping hands farther from the work area matters.I put these through a serious test on a 12 inch reinforced concrete wall that my saw could not fully cut through, so the rest had to be chiseled out by hand. It was a brutal, multi-day job that even wore out a set of brushes in my rotary hammer, but the bits themselves held up impressively. Even with old, dense concrete, they released cleanly and did not overheat to the point of failure, though the bead blasted finish did polish smooth in some areas and two bits lost a bit of their edge corners.Fit and build quality have been consistently solid. Each bit locks securely into an SDS-Plus rotary hammer with no wobble, and the steel feels tough without any mushrooming or unusual wear after repeated heavy use. This is an excellent set of high quality bits for a reasonable price. They're made of a very hard material and I used them to break up a concrete pad with my bosch SDS rotary hammer with no issues. The bit I used still looks brand new even after about an hour of use. These bits are very large bits and essentially allow your sds rotary hammer to do a lot of the tasks you would otherwise need a jackhammer to do. It was a little bit tough to get them inserted into the collet at first but once they were in they were locked in tight.As for value, these are a fair bit cheaper than any hardware store brand for bits this size. I'm very happy with them and would highly recommend them.

This being the third set of bits that I've ordered from this maker, I am still very pleased with their products' performance and value. My SDS rotary hammer came with a a narrow chisel bit that appears to have been about the same size as the smallest of this set, but I've worn it to a nub at this point, so new iron was in order.I have a 12" reinforced concrete basement wall that I saw cut a door opening in, but my saw couldn't make the full cut, so the rest had to be dressed up by hand, and it was a process. But, like water dripping on a rock, I persevered and eventually the wall surrendered (yes, I was at war). Needless to say, these bits, and several others, all got a good workout. This is what I would call a bridge too far for the drill, as I had to replace a set of brushes and clean and lube it several times over the course of several days of me chipping at it. There are better tools to be sure, but I was trying to stay cheap and run with what I had.I did manage to wear the corners off of two of the bits, but not in a failed, cheap steel sort of way. The concrete that I was dealing with was about 25 years old, and I know that the slump was tested when it went in, so it was serious hard. These bits all fit well and released without complaint even when too hot to touch from continuing torture. The bead blasted finish has been polished smooth in many areas, but nothing has failed.As far as value for the money goes, I couldn't buy one of these at the local orange home center for the current coupon assisted twenty-eight fifty asking price that these are being offered for, so I'd say that's a pretty good value. I've seen a few others being sold for less on Amazon, but I've been happy with the performance of my Azuno bits and have no reason to doubt the claimed quality of their steel. The others don't share much on that count, so I'm guessing that might play into how and why they are cheaper.
