This review is for the zhax 3 piece stubby ratchet set. This set consists of three short-handled ratchet wrenches in standard 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive sizes. These wrenches feel solid and durable, and feature a good quality finish that looks quite nice. The chatter of the ratchet is a bit light due to these being 90-tooth ratchets, however they never feel like they are going to slip. The forward/reverse toggle switches work well, however they can easily get slid or brushed into a middle position. They really should have a spring mechanism holding them fully in the forward or reverse position. Their size can be quite useful in confined spaces, and they are easy to use for any ratcheting task.Overall, at $30 for the three-piece set, this is a great value.

I ordered the zhax zhax 3PCS Stubby Ratchet Set, 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" Drive Mini Ratchet Wrenches90-Tooth, Quick Release, Reversible, Short Handle, Black Electrophoretic Coating, Repair & Maintenance, CR-V Steel.I got these because I could have used them when I was put in my pool table back together after moving it from Wednesday to where I currently live. There were some very tight positions in there underneath the pool table when doing the bolts. I ended up using my existing ratchet wrenches with very long extensions stack together to get into the bolt locations. These probably would have been much easier to use.First I'll start with the fact that their packaged in a form-fitted foam. I mentioned this first because you want to keep this phone because it makes a perfect way to store these in your workbench or cabinet drawer and to keep them organized.I found no flaws in the metal work on these wrenches. That is, there were no burrs or Sharp edges. All of the mechanisms operate very easily and are properly lubricated. It is easy. Getting these stubby ratchets don't add to the versatility of my tools. The weight of each one is heavy enough that they do not feel cheap but they are not overly heavy. I think the weight is what you would expect if you took one of your long handled ratchets and cut it down to this size.These have a textured grip at the very end of the handle and also in the middle of the handle and they are comfortable grips. That is, they don't cut into you as you're holding it.I tested all three of the ratchets and all three were easy to switch from clockwise to counterclockwise rotations. The ratcheting of the on the sockets that I install on the wrenches was very smooth. was also easy to get the sockets onto and off of these wrenches. And, that was with random sockets that I grew up grabbed out of the first toolbox that I came across and these sockets were not in pristine shape.I think these are a reasonable value for the money and are on the same price level as similar sets. I like these in part because they are black rather than the standard chrome color. YMMV.Have included a number of photos to show the formed foam packaging that can be for storage in your drawer, as well as several photos of the ratchets, themselves.Overall, five stars for me.

I got this zhax 3PCS Stubby Ratchet Set to help with working in confined spaces.Let me just say this upfront. When I took them out of the package, I was taken aback at how heavy they felt and I mean that in a good way. These things are solid and feel nothing like the cheap tools I have come to expect from a non-big name company.They are smooth ratcheting, the quick release works well and they feel good in the hand.You are obviously not going to be breaking free a rusted nut but if you have something in a tight corner you will praise your own wisdom for picking up a set like this.Overall, very happy with this set.

I'm pretty impressed with this 3 piece set of stubby ratchets. These come with a 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4" variety stubby ratchet in a nice set of EVA foam. The foam really makes them look higher quality and more expensive than they really are, but wastes a bit too much space in my toolbox for my liking. I really do enjoy when companies package things that way, way nicer than endless amounts of indestructible plastic.The size is really perfect for just grabbing for use on simple bench-top wrenching, small engines and the like. They aren't nearly as small as the popular "stubby" micro ratchets you see in a lot of memes, but are a much more practical size for using daily. It's comparable to the gearwrench 120XP in size, but not nearly as tiny as the Icon/Snap-On stubby or Titan Nano.The ratcheting mechanism is the traditional 90T quick release ratcheting mechanism that you come to expect from amazon ratchets. It's not the best ratchet in the world, but it's not terrible either. It's 90 teeth with some amount of backdrag. It's a great beginner set or set for kids. Pro tip: They get much much smoother if you open them up and put a dab of superlube or high pressure grease in them.These are just a nice, easy to use and lightweight set of ratchets for not a whole lot of money. You can definitely find sets like this for less, but most of them are 72T. For a 90T ratchet this is a very reasonable price. They definitely aren't the nicest ratchets in the world and they have a noticeable amount of backdrag, but overall I'm pretty happy with them.

I purchased this ratchet set as I often have to work on my cars and there isn't always enough room to get a full size ratchet in the space available. These work really well with the 90 tooth mechanism they are still able to rotate. The higher number of teeth usually means the smaller amount of movement needed to actually turn a bolt. This is a good thing if your working in a tight spot and can't rotate the handle far. They could be a little thinner, but I'd say they are about average thickness for wrenches. If you want thin wrenches that are quality they are typically very expensive.Overall these feel like they are good quality. I have a lot of regular size wrenches running from the high end like Snap-On to more budget friendly like your Pittsburgh and Icon. These do not feel overly light or cheaply made.I used the 3/8 and 1/2 drive to remove a battery. It was the only thing I needed to do at the moment and I did want to test them before writing a review. They would have been really nice to have a few weeks ago when I replaced my wife's headlights in her 2006 Subaru Forester. We had to remove the entire front bumper and there were two body alignment bolts on the front fender wells that were really hard to get to and these would have been great to have then.I can't speak to their durability yet, but I will continue to use them and return back to update this post if anything fails on them. I like that they come in a very thick dense foam holder that fit right in my ratchet drawer and keeps them together without allowing them to roll around. The direction change switch works nicely, it isn't overly hard to switch directions. The socket release button works well and is not sticking.Overall I would purchase this item again and recommend these ratchets.

A compact three‑ratchet set built around fine 90‑tooth mechanisms that deliver smooth, easy movement in confined spaces. The 1/2 and 3/8 drive ratchets have a smooth and fine action, and their size and shape give excellent fit in tight areas where swing arc is limited. I normally work with long flex ratchets, extra long ratchets and breaker bars, so these stubby units fill the complementary role: easy access, low torque and low backdrag.The 1/4 drive ratchet arrived with gritty movement in one direction, and when I opened it I found no lubrication and visible dirt on the gear and pawls. After a full cleaning and fresh silicone grease, the mechanism became very smooth. This design uses two small pawls, one for each direction, which naturally produces low backdrag and a light, easy ratcheting movement. That mechanism is ideal for a stubby ratchet where arc and backdrag matters more than leverage or maximum sturdiness. I would not use that pawl layout in a long or extra‑long handle, but in a short handle it provides excellent feel and easy movement. The direction‑lever screw had no thread locker, so I will add that.The foam organizer tray is helpful for storage, though visually basic compared to other trays I own. I reduced the rating only because the 1/4 drive needed cleaning and lubrication to reach proper operation. Once addressed, all three ratchets provide strong value, smooth action, and a compact size and length that complement heavier torque tools.A fine‑tooth stubby ratchet set with smooth mechanisms, good fit in tight spaces, and durable performance once cleaned and lubricated.

Another great tool line from Zhax that comes in their signature foam cut out which always sends me into a state of confusion because while I'd like to just house the whole thing in my tool box drawer, I can't because there is no more space. Anways, this is an excellent 3 Stubby Ratchet set to help round out my ratchet drawer as I may only have one stubby type ratchet pre-existing and surely there will come a moment when I really need one if not all of these. The knurling on the handles is a nice feature but the obvious standouts are the phosphorous coating, the smooth 90 tooth ratcheting action and the quick release buton. While its nice they provide the length dimensions of each piece on the site listing, they completely left out how thick and chunky the ratchet heads actually are! I can't remember ever seeing stubby with such fat heads and can't help but wonder why? Surely with such wide pawls and gears inside these things should be much stronger and able to withstand increased loads but they also may interfer if your using them in places such as there is a component or part parallel to the fastener. The 1/2 inch head is .9 of an inch, 3/8 inch head is .7 inches and the 1/4 inch head .5 inches thick. Despite this these ratchets will prove highly useful with an overall excellent build if not overly but as always time will tell but for around $32 you could certainly do worse.
