I picked this up for beginner electronics work, mostly small boards, connectors, and hobby projects. Heat-up is fast. The iron is ready to melt solder in a few seconds instead of sitting there waiting like older stick irons I have used.Having both handles in the box matters. I have been using the finer C210 style tips for small pads and the C245 handle when a joint needs more heat. The kit came with a big pile of tips, enough that I have not needed to buy extras yet. Presets are handy once you find a temperature you like, and sleep mode keeps the tip from just sitting at full heat in the stand.I am not a production tech. For learning and light repair work, this station has been easy to live with and a lot more capable than a cheap pencil iron. Temperature stays consistent enough that I am not constantly chasing the dial.

This WEP 982D soldering station has everything I could want in a soldering iron setup! I frequently have small soldering tasks to do and my son has been doing a lot of soldering in one of his college clubs. My daughter just had a high school project that required some soldering as well, and since both kids seem to enjoy it, I decided to have them buy some soldering projects online and get a good soldering iron station to work with and prectice soldering together. This was definitely a good choice. I like that it has a standard handle and micro handle. The micro handle with multiple tips really helps me work on things that are so small I can barely see them. It is very precise. The auto calibration feature works great and is easy to use, and one of the best things is the way the stand lets you replace the tips on the iron while it is hot without ever touching them. I love the large assortment of tips for both irons and the convenience of being able to change temp. with buttons right on the iron. This soldering iron heats up almost instantly and when you put it back into the stand it has a safety feature that drops the temp. back to under 400 degrees so it doesnt burn the stand. This soldering iron has too many features to talk about here, but they are all well thought out with convenience, ease of use and safety in mind. I recommend it 100%

This soldering station checks most of the boxes for me. It has two heads, one for delicate circuit board work and the other for more general use. I like that they supply a ton of different tips, and that the connections are industry-standard so you can use higher-quality tips if the included tips don't perform well. At this price, something has to suffer, and it is clear that they emphasized the important parts - quality display and quality handpieces. The body of the unit feels like brittle plastic. That shouldn't be a problem though - this is not configured as a portable setup - put it on the shelf over your workbench and it will be safe.The station heats up very quickly (see my video) and stores the ramps up to the temperature you set when you pull the handpiece out of the holder. When you put it back, it cools to a preset holding temperature to minimize waiting for the iron to heat. I LOVE this feature.This seems like a reasonable price for such a complete setup. It is less expensive than some of the better-known imports, and TONS cheaper than brand name. A good compromise for a hobbyist.

I recently got into 3D printing, so I’ve been picking up accessories to help with soldering, heat-set inserts, small repairs, and learning how to use soldering irons properly. I’m still newer to soldering, but this WEP 982D feels like a serious upgrade from a basic starter iron.The station feels high quality right out of the box. It includes two handles, 11 quick-change tips, brass wool, sponge, thermocouple sensors, solder wire, and a very nice integrated stand. I like that it’s basically ready to use without having to immediately buy extra tips or accessories.The 200W peak power is one of the biggest things I noticed. It heats up extremely fast, and the temperature range from 194°F to 842°F gives a lot of flexibility depending on what you’re doing. For 3D printing, this is useful for heat-set inserts, fixing small wiring projects, adding LED strips, repairing connectors, or working on small electronics around a printer setup.The two handles are also great because they cover different use cases. The smaller C210 handle is better for precision work, while the C245 handle gives you more thermal mass for bigger joints, wires, and general soldering. I like having both options instead of trying to force one iron to do everything.As a beginner, I also appreciate the safety and workflow features. The smart sleep mode, preset temperature channels, big LCD screen, and built-in stand make it feel less intimidating and more organized. I still have a lot to learn, but this gives me room to grow instead of feeling like I’ll outgrow it right away.For 3D printing, electronics repair, LED projects, RC hobbies, DIY wiring, or general workshop use, this is a really nice soldering station. It’s more than a beginner needs, but that’s exactly why I like it.

I'm pretty green when it comes to soldering. I've built some practice kits, I'm slowly gaining confidence, and I'm at the stage where I'm ready to transition to real-world projects. I already own several irons — a couple of cordless ones, a decent entry-level station, and one with Curie heat technology. Nothing wrong with any of them. But I wanted to replace the entry-level station with something more versatile and feature-rich as I grow into the hobby. No specific project drove the decision. Just intentional upgrading.Out of the box, this thing looks and feels solid. The build quality is immediately apparent, the included tip selection is generous, and the dual handle setup felt like a bonus at this price point. I was impressed before I turned it on. The handles connect to the base easily and swapping between them isn't a hassle. I appreciate that both handles have temperature adjustment controls built in — you don't have to go back to the base unit mid-task.The preset channels and auto calibration are features I haven't fully explored yet. I'm still learning what temperatures different jobs actually call for, so the presets will mean more once I have a better frame of reference. The calibration function I left alone entirely — it felt above my current pay grade, and I'd rather read up on it before touching it. The sleep mode, though? I'll take every safety feature this thing offers. Enthusiastically.I took it for a test drive using the larger C245 handle, connecting a few through-hole components. They came out pretty nice if you ask me. Turning the unit on was its own lesson. The heat-up speed is not an exaggeration. I can confirm this literally firsthand because I was careless and burned my hand almost immediately.Plot twist: midway into this review, as if by fate, I ran into the perfect opportunity to use the iron for something other than practice. I was installing LED strip lighting in my closet, and the connectors I bought turned out to be useless, which meant hand-soldering the wires. I stumbled at first. Then I found a rhythm. The iron performed flawlessly throughout, and my first real-world soldering project was a success. See photo for proof!My lasting impression is that the value here is real. You get a capable, brand name iron with temp presets, a big bright LCD display, two handles, cable management, eleven tips, brass wool cleaner, thermocouple sensors, solder wire, and more. What's not to like?
