I’ve seen some gruesome cuts over the years of my industrial and construction background - enough that I finally got over my youthful stubbornness, and I now try to take whatever reasonable steps I can to prevent gruesome things from happening to me.Since I work with all kinds of sharp things, such as glass, sheet metal, ceramics, stone, and every imaginable type of knife and saw, I started wearing cut resistant gloves a few years ago. My first pairs are A4 level cut resistance. When I first got them and looked into what all that means, I thought that was a pretty good level – and if I remember correctly, the availability of higher rated gloves was sparse and expensive.Apparently, the tech has greatly improved, and I was blown away to see the availability of Level A9 gloves on Amazon. I was even more pleasantly surprised to see them from one of my favorite brands, and at a good price.I have several items from Toolant, and every time, they’ve been great quality at a great price.Sure enough, as expected, these fit perfectly - if just a tad snug for the size, and they are comfortable enough to wear for long periods, there is barely any more mass in them than non cut-resistant gloves. They’re actually lighter and more flexible than my A4s. These are actually flexible enough, and engineered well enough, to also be rated for touchscreen use. This means that, in theory, we don’t even need to take them off to make a cell phone call. That’s pretty amazing for something that offers the highest cut resistance rating possible.That’s correct – That rating means that they are built to withstand 4,000 + grams of cutting load. I don’t claim to know exactly what that might feel like and I really don’t want to find out, but it sure sounds impressive enough to give me a degree of confidence while wearing them.See my video using the touchscreen on my refrigerator, I had planned to show me using tons of features on my cell phone… then I remembered that my camera is on my cell. Duoh! Instead, you’re going to have to trust me on this, but I really did unlock my phone, open my camera, adjust the zoom, and start and end the video … WITH THE GLOVES ON! These gloves are tuff (as my son would say). And tough they are - the product images show a knife slicing the palm of the glove! I honestly didn't try to do that but I did use it for gardening and handling a lot of thorny shrubs in my yard. The material feels like a rubberized work glove where the palm and fingers have a coating of grippy material to protect my hand. The fit of the gloves is good. I have a decently big hand for a taller guy but I could fit a medium sized glove, Initially I thought it'd be tight but it was surprisingly roomy and fit well. The little touches of color are nice too. It makes just that little bit of stylish difference versus a plain old black glove. One word of advice is that the inside can get hot and sweaty since the material is not entirely breathable due to the protective material covering a large area of the hand area (palm side down). So I needed to air my gloves out after an hour or so of use.

These cut resistant work gloves are so thin and flexible that you might not realize they have a tungsten wire mesh protective layer inside them. They feel very good on my hands and provide excellent grip and dexterity. I have no trouble picking up small objects when wearing these gloves. They feel quite durable, and after several months of using them on various projects around the house and yard, the gloves have not shown any unusual wear. So I expect they should last a long time.The backside of the gloves is a soft tightly woven and supple fabric material. The palm of the gloves is a rubberized material which is very grippy and makes it very easy to hold objects and keep the gloves from slipping. Between the thumb and forefinger joints in the palm of the hand is an extra reinforced rubberized patch to protect from wear and presumably to provide added cut protection.All the finger tips work on touch screens so you can keep the gloves on. Though It can be a little difficult to accurately hit very small areas on a touchscreen.The gloves have the elasticized cuffs which grip the wrists very firmly. So once you have the gloves on, they are going to stay put on your hands. The close fitting cuffs also work effectively to prevent dirt and dust from working their way inside the gloves.This raises the question of sizing. I have fairly large hands and usually take an XL in my gloves. Using the size chart on the product page, with my hands having a palm circumference around 9 1/4 inches, my size for these gloves would be a Medium. But just to be sure I ordered a Large. The size Large does fit me, but it feels quite tight and my hands can get a sort of compressed feeling after wearing the gloves for longer periods of time. The gloves are very stretchy so it’s not a matter of not being able to get the gloves on my hands. The question is how tightly do you want them to fit and how long are you going to be wearing them.My suggestion would be that you go with at least one larger size up if you are in doubt about how the gloves would fit. I like these gloves so much that subsequently I purchased a second pair on my own in size XXL, which was two sizes up from before. And it turned out they fit me very well in this much larger size. But they still feel relatively firm and tight on my hands, though not uncomfortable. So based on this, I would say you definitely don’t want to order a size too small, and you are probably not going to have trouble with how the gloves fit if you take a chance and order larger sizes than you might normally take instead.It is worth noting that the product description says that these gloves are cut resistant, but not cut proof and not puncture resistant. That is fully understandable, and in my experience, they provide all the protection that I need. The gloves are not at all waterproof and liquids go right through them just as if they were made of cotton cloth. But in my experience, when I have accidentally gotten the gloves or the fingers wet, they dry very quickly.The gloves are very well-made and mine had no uneven seams or manufacturing defectsAt a a recent price range between $12 and $15, I think these gloves are a good value.

True A9. Tested with all my blades with different grinds and profilesThese cut resistant gloves were ready to go right out of the package...just slip them on and get to work. I ordered the large size and the fit was spot on for my hands without feeling too tight or loose. Even though they offer a high level of protection, they still flex naturally so I had no problem grabbing tools, hardware, or small parts. They are much more comfortable than the bulky cut resistant gloves I've worn in the pastI spend a lot of time working on my 2000 Silverado and around the garage cutting sheet metal, handling sharp brackets, and working with rusty parts. These gloves gave me the confidence to work without constantly worrying about slicing my fingers open. The grip is excellent and I was able to hold onto greasy sockets and metal pieces without feeling like they were going to slip. I also liked being able to use my phone without taking the gloves off every few minutes which saved a lot of hassleThe build quality is excellent and they feel like they'll last a long time. The material is tough but doesn't make my hands sweat like some heavy duty gloves do. They don't have those irritating fiberglass fibers either, so I could wear them for extended projects without my hands getting itchy. After several garage jobs they still look nearly new with no loose stitching or signs of premature wearFor the money I think these are a great investment if you work with sharp materials on a regular basis. You get three pairs, outstanding protection, a comfortable fit, and durability that feels built for real work instead of just light duty tasks. I'll definitely be keeping one pair in the garage, one in the truck, and one as a backup. My fingers appreciate the extra protection...they've already been through enough over the years

I purchased these for working around the home. The first job I did was dismantling an old playhouse made from treated lumber. The playhouse was very old. The wood was splintering and the screws would sometimes break off leaving sharp little exposed nubs and requiring me to separate the pieces through brute force.The size 9 gloves I ordered fit my size 9 finger and hands - well like a glove. They actually needed to stretch a little (width wise) to pull on. The length was perfect. The cuffs fit snuggly to my wrists and stayed in place. With the rubberized coating on the palms the gloves provided very good dexterity. They are made from a thin material that features a dense weave, so they do warm up your hands a small amount. They should be good for late fall yard work.Breaking down the playhouse, they don't provide any protection from bangs and bumps. The fabric can also get snagged on exposed broken off screws. Watch also for sharp points that may not puncture the material but can still hurt your hand inside the glove. The gloves are not a hard armor.During the work I didn't get any splinters which was my biggest concern. And accidental scrapes on partially exposed nails and screws didn't cause any nasty gouges, scrapes or open cuts. These are great gloves for construction or demolition where the unexpected can happen any time.Besides the playhouse- I'll be using these when sharpening knives.- They are perfect for cleaning gutters where I'm working between the roofing edge and sharp aluminum sheet metal.- Trimming trees and cutting back brush are also good applications. Yard work in general.I'm happy with the gloves. They are pretty much what I expected. Perfect for protection against accidental slices, and sharp sliding edges like Sheet metal, and thin, ragged plastics. The gloves fit as expected. They are made from thin material and have a rubberized surface on the palms and fingers - they provide good grip.There are a lot of applications for these gloves. They are real hand savers. I would recommend them.

I'm always trying to help my husband with lifting heavy things, moving bricks, trimming rose bushes and grabbing sharp metal things. I never seem to have the proper gloves for the occasion and this pair of gloves seem to provide some protection while not causing my hands to overheat.I have a medium size hand and my husband has a very large hand, where XL might be a better fit than L. These gloves are large and I thought they would be too large on me or not fit my husband's hand at all. It turns out that he can wear them (although they are very tight) because they stretch quite a bit. The picture of his gloved hand against the green T shirt is his hand. All the other pictures and video are my M woman's hand wearing the gloves, which are a bit lose on me.I found that I could activate my phone to take a picture while wearing the glove, although I think that a better fitting glove would make this easier. My glove was a bit lose to get good contact with my phone while my other hand was occupied.I expect that the grip of these gloves will be very good and they should be high quality because of the weave of metal fibers. They have a grip are between the thumb and the palm of the glove and this is an area where when you grab something smooth and want to tighten it, it can slip. These gloves make that are non-slippery and also protect the area from damage.I took off one star because I lightly used my very sharp kitchen knife to "try to cut" the palm of the glove. I actually was afraid it would damage it so I went very light and I saw it leave a little mark. I would not be afraid to use them to fillet a fish, however rather than deliberately trying to cut the glove. Handling the sawmill blades was another experience which gave me pause., When I grabbed the sharp blade on the tooth surface I felt it poke into my finger, although I was doing it lightly. Again, I did not want to test it to failure. These are puncture resistant and that means they could puncture.For grabbing, cutting, handling sharp and rough materials and sharp items these gloves offer more protection than garden gloves (which I use all the time). They should also protect against cuts, but again I did not want to purposely push the test to see how much they resist the cuts. There is a difference between something resisting being cut and not being able to cut them at all. These gloves are "cut resistance" so I want to respect that.The gloves are actually very flexible and this is a very good thing for most projects where you want some protection and safety but you need dexterity.

No fiberglass in the blend either, which anyone who has worn cheap cut gloves and itched for a day afterward will appreciate. Sidebar - ANSI Cut Levels: The ANSI scale runs A1 through A9 and measures how many grams of force a machine-driven blade takes to cut through the material - A1 starts around 200 grams, and A9, the top of the scale, takes 6,000 grams or more. The old way to get there was bulk, which is why traditional cut gloves felt like oven mitts and spent their lives in a drawer. The trick in a glove like this is in the yarn itself - fine tungsten wire and engineered fiber spun into an 18-gauge knit - so the protection comes from the material, not the thickness. When you find one of those razor edges inside a chassis or on a sheet-metal bracket, take thirty seconds with a fine file or a deburring tool and knock it down.
