Worked great and easy to do. Bought specifically to repair a discharge chute on my commercial mower. All the extras were great. but he case should have been much larger. It does overheat when melting the plastic and needs frequent cool down periods. The push on pieces for this step aren't very sturdy. It excels with the clips and is a great inexpensive tool.

Overall this is a nice set of for performing plastic / vinyl bumper repairs. My son has a low car & unfortunately have curbed this several times. Also has had bad luck with critters running in front (skunk & racoon for example). Currently in the process of some engine repairs we have been able to remove the front bumper to see if we can repair several of the cracks instead of paying $1800+ for a replacement.Using the squiggly wire piece where you melt this into the crack to provide a physical repair instead of just epoxy or 2 part putty over the surface to repair has worked well so far once we got the hang of this by holding the part together & installing these on the underside. The included tools to then snip off the wires are ok. Not the greatest, but works.

Tool works for about a minute then stops due to tool is to hot . Not a lot of a duty time.

The welding result is flawless! I was fully prepared to replace my bumper, but this tool saved me $900. Once you’re done welding, snap off the excess pins, sand the area smooth, fill it with putty, and finish with spray paint for a seamless repair.

I have always tried to repair things rather than toss them in the trash when they break. Plastic products have always frustrated me. I have never found a plastic glue that works consistently on all types of plastic.I ordered this plastic welding kit to see if it could help me fix some things around the house. I was amazed at how many welding staples were included and the variety of shapes. There are several plastic welding rods in the box as well, along with wire mesh, sanding pads, a utility knife, and side cutters, among other things. The welder is quite heavy and feels very solid in the hand. Everything is contained in a decent plastic case, which is convenient.I tested this tool on a plastic dustpan that I broke a few years ago. I tried to glue it with super glue made for plastic, but it broke again after a few uses. This tool heated up in a few seconds, and I accidentally pushed the first staple right through the plastic. I pulled it back a little and released the trigger. After about 5 seconds the staple cooled enough to pull the tool away. I repeated this with several other staples, using different shapes based on what part of the cracked plastic I was welding together. The welding tool was consistent and worked perfectly every time.After I was satisfied that the crack would never open again, I clipped the ends of the staples with the side cutters. I noticed that I could not cut the staples completely flush, so there were several short but sharp pieces of staple sticking out of the plastic. I used a Dremel tool to remove the excess metal and smooth the surface. I then attached one of the plastic smoothing tips on the welding tool and used it to cut one of the plastic rods into short pieces. I melted them over the crack and smoothed the plastic, covering any visible metal staples. During this process the smoothing tip came off the welder a few times and fell to my garage floor. This tool would be better if it had a set screw or some other way to hold the smoothing tip in place, although it did work and got the job done.I consider this kit to be good value considering that it works as intended and includes a huge amount of welding staples, tools, and other materials for plastic repair. With practice I think that anyone could learn to repair cracked plastic parts using this kit.
