Laser Fume Extractor

This is an okay small footprint fume extractor with a Dual-Layer filtration system. When I can get the hose properly positioned over my work I don’t smell any flux or soldering fumes. Sometimes I set the unit on its side on a shelf so the exhaust blows away from the workbench.The main drawback is the flexible hose. Whether the unit is vertical on the desk or horizontal on a shelf, the hose doesn’t hold its position well when fully extended. I ended up tying a string to keep it aimed where I want it. That works fine for me, but a more rigid or better-supported hose would make this four-stars and with higher suction a five-star product.For now it’s a cost-effective solution that does the job until I get around to installing a full workbench hood with external venting. Recommended if you need a compact desktop extractor and don’t mind giving the hose a little help staying put.

UPDATE (02-22-26): KQZ reached out and replaced my unit. The new one has been running great for the last couple of weeks. I've adjusted my review to reflect what it should be when it's working right. Hopefully I don't have to come back and make any new updates and this unit will last much longer!----ORIGINAL REVIEW:Unfortunately, in just over a half a year of minimal usage, it no longer will pull a vacuum like it used to. It can barely pull fumes at this point let alone pull enough air to clear the fine particles it used to. I've replaced the filters and still no luck. I would recommend buying something a bit more robust. This doesn't seem to be it, unfortunately.In positives, it has what appears to be very good build quality, it comes with a lot of additional accessories for the flexible connector as well as the foil connector. It's just unfortunate it no longer works very well as a vacuum.

I purchased this after an issue with too much metal particulate in the air after laser engraving - even with exhaust fans venting outside. This extractor has some serious vacuum! You can literally watch it draw every bit of smoke and particle into the hose - and I am only running on 1/4 speed! I can now run brass all day on my laser and not fog up the office and set off smoke alarms! Another huge pro - this thing is whisper quiet! The sound from the laser is far louder than this machine. After having my laser for awhile now, I would recommend anyone who has one to get an extractor like this! Your health is worth it! You don't want to be breathing the particles from your project. Overall, this thing works fantastic. It even helps with the fumes and smell of plastics being lasered! (You do have to vent this machine outdoors for plastics). It was worth every penny I paid.

To be honest, we were trying to save $4000 by not buying the Filtrabox industrial filter. I looked at the specs of this filter and they were adequate based on our usage. And we couldn't be any more pleased. Comes with several adapters and extra first stage filters as well. I've actually washed those with a little Oxy laundry detergent and reused them successfully. I added a 3" to 6" adapter to the end of the hose that connects to my Aeon Laser engraver and it removes all the smell and fumes, even from acrylic. And it's fairly quiet too - coming in at about 68 decibels running at the highest speed. Super impressed with this product.

I bought this with a dash of skepticism. I have been using a 30 watt Roly diode laser for about 9 months and have tried several things to deal with the fumes. I bought an inline fan and vented through a basement window for several months, but my wife who seems to smell just about anything was always complaining about the smell. At one point I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and was going to sell the laser. I could certainly smell the laser when it was working but it didn't bother me all that much.I decided to keep the laser and I moved it out to the garage and ran the vent out through a partially open garage door. The problem there was as it got colder, it got too cold to be out there. So... the next step was to but some vinyl strips and create an air barrier for the partially open door. That worked reasonably well, but it was still a bit cold to sit at the laser (and my garage is actually heated).As a last ditch I decided to look into fume extractors. I had taken a look before, but the cost was just a bit too high to consider. I did a lot of looking and came across this extractor. it was one of the lower priced units and had good reviews. I bought it fully expecting to return it. I just didn't think it would make a big enough difference to warrant the expense. I was wrong... at least for now.I hooked the extractor up to my laser and did some test cuts in 1/8 plywood. I was letting the extractor just vent into the garage. My first attempt was impressive. I could barely smell the laser. It was even better than when I vented through the basement window. There was way less smoke build up inside the laser enclosure and if I stepped away from the machine, I could hardly smell anything.I have only done a few sessions with the laser since installing but if it holds up, this is a great solution for the price. I can now sit at my laptop right next to the laser and smell only faint smells of the burning wood smell. It comes with ten of the first stage filters and I plan to change those frequently to try and keep the other two filters clean as they are pricey. I'm hoping the filters last a while before needing to be changed. I'll update if anything changes but if you are considering a fume extractor, I'd keep this one at the top of the list.

I use this with a desktop CO2 laser. It has more than enough power and I rarely run this over 50% power. It filters extremely well (although I still vent it outdoors). The machine itself is built of high quality steel casing that is nicely padded with a rubber/foam insulator that helps with the sealing and noise. Feels really high quality down to the wheels they chose to install on this model. Filters are kind of pricey, but the set gives you ample first layers (which are the ones you replace the most) so it times well with when you need to refresh the other filters too.Please keep the filters around for a long time! Anyone looking for a mid-tier fume extractor, I would highly recommend this.

I have it connected to my xTool S1 and it does a great job of pulling in and filtering the fumes from cutting and engraving wood projects. So far, I have only needed to use a low speed setting to collect all of the smoke; I might need to increase that for other projects but it seems to have plenty of capacity if that is needed.
