Belt Grinder Sander

I just set it up this morning, so I cannot give an opinion as to how long it will last, but I'm extremely impressed by the quality of this little machine! Everything is top-notch and is an extremely easy setup. Absolutely love the variable speed control and the ability to switch out wheels and go vertical or horizontal sanding. Before I buy something I research it to death and there was nothing but good comments regarding this sander.

i love this thing. i've totally replaced my bench grinder with it now. i will say that it did however require one small modification for proper belt tracking. the drive pulley is flat instead of rounded which makes the belt unstable. i turned the machine on without a belt and ground a very small convex curve onto it, which fixed the problem. i've heard you can also just add a this strip of tape to the center of it and that works too. other than that small problem the machine has proven highly versatile and is now indispensable in my shop.

I love this little machine. I studied this machine and the reviews before I purchased it. It took me a couple of weeks to make up my mind and with a slight bit of reluctants, I went ahead and purchased it. It does exactly what I expected it to do. Does not take up a lot of shop space. Grinds metal very easily. Directions and controls work as described. A lot of power for such a small machine. I give this machine two Huge Thumbs Up!!!!

You cannot beat this for the price. Works extremely well, with plenty of attachments, very powerful. Excelellent quality and heavy duty build (you're going to need someone to help you lift it). Great value considering the cost of any other 72x3 grinder on the market. Glad I took a chance on this machine.

I am very impressed by this VEVOR 1" x 30" grinder. The build quality is great overall, though the bearings on the flat platen were installed too tightly out of the box and were running hot. I removed the bearings and reamed the rollers to proper specification, which completely solved the problem and brought it to smooth operation.I own a 2" x 72" grinder that cost five times as much, and while this unit doesn't replace a heavy-duty rig, it actually performs smaller, detailed tasks much better. It’s a "big hammer, little hammer" scenario—different jobs simply require different tools, and this 1x30 is a great addition to the shop.

For the last 3 years I have been looking for a small belt grinder/sander for shaping and finishing small parts. I am a gunsmith for antique and new Colt revolvers, (30 + years). For the past 12 years I heave used a Kalamazoo 1 x 42. I wanted something with variable speed and a more robust platen and table system. Most of what I found was in the $500 to $800 and too bulky. I read a lot of the comments about this machine and was skeptical, but wanted to see for myself. I was fully expecting to have to do some mods, but at $200 I thought it would be worth it. I am extremely pleased with the machine and its quality, considering what it is. I found the overall build quality to be an 9. I made a few improvements that were very easy to do that made a huge difference. Photos included for clarity. Six washers were needed. Four on the left side for bolts that needed more contact area. The other two washers are spacers between the platen and the mounting arms. The platen sits slightly behind the vertical plane of the wheels above and below it. This causes the belt to have play in it as you push something into it for grinding. I want the belt to rest right on the platen, so the moment you press a part into the belt, it is sanding. The $3800 TW90 knife grinder I have is set up this way. I placed one washer between each of the two mounting points of the platen. They measure 0.026" or 0.67mm in thickness. This put the wheels and platten in perfect alignment. Two other things to note. There is a small mounting block that holds the machine to the swivel. There are four bolts holding this together. They were all very loose causing the machine to wobble. Like most reviewers have suggested, check and tighten all bolts. I used Loctite on these as they are hard to get to. One very small nitpick, I didn't like how small the handle for the belt tensioner was. I made a new handle by I turning a 3/4" piece of aluminum on my lathe. See photo. I tapped a 6mm x 1 hole in the end and installed it with a 6mm bolt. (Yes I know they are called cap screws also). I did not have ANY of the other issues that some buyers had. All wheels were spot on perfectly round with no runout. The tensioner wheel is now rounded so the tracking is perfect at any speed. My large rubber wheel was also perfect in every way. After I installed the washers, tightened some bolts and made my handle, I sat there not believing there wasn't something more serious to fix. It appears to me that Vevor has listened to customers' concerns and made adjustments with the manufacturer to give us a better machine. I am truly impressed. Purchased in May of 2025. The wooden box I made in about 15 minutes is to put it at the right height and make it easy to move as one unit with the controller. I also Zip tied the power cords out of the way of the drive wheel on the right side. If they are all like the one I received, you will be very impressed. $200 well spent.
