I didn't know these even existed. I've been breaking down pallets with a hammer and crowbar, which can be a lot of work. When I saw this I was excited but also skeptical. It comes in pieces so I thought it might be wobbly/janky and I just assumed it would be light-duty. Well to my surprise, it is actually well made/designed. The handle sections screw together and then there is a set screw you install to keep it tight. It works and all holes lined up nicely. The steel is also heavier gauge than I expected. Overall its a quality tool. I tried it on one pallet so far, it definitely made breaking them down easier, I like to save the boards if possible, and some broke in the process. Im sure there is a learning curve to using this, and some pallets might be easier than others, but if nothing else, it definitely helps with prying the boards up some so you can get under the nails to pull them out.

If you check closely you will see that there are two types of these tools. One has two or three sharp pointed tangs sticking out the front for digging into wood, whereas this tool has flat cantilevered pads for getting under wood. This tool was primarily designed for breaking apart wooden pallets and deck boards and does a terrific job of that. It is wide enough to fit over double 2x8's, 2x10's etc. for the pivot point.I also found that it helps me a lot for interior painting. When I need to move beds, dressers, radiators, etc to get to the walls to paint.In my younger years I could simply lift the furniture and place a moving disc under the legs. With this tool and a small piece of 1x4, 2x4 & 4x4 I can easily lift any furniture now without strain to get the discs under the legs without damage to the furniture.When it first arrived I was concerned that the handle bolted together with male and female thread pipe fittings welded into the handle. And previously having to cut, grind, tap, etc other imported tools due to inferior welds I thought it may be an issue with this tool, but I can say these welds were SPECTACULAR in that the pieces had to screw together and bottom out and line up perfectly so a retaining pin could be placed thru holes in the handle. EVERYTHING ALIGNED PERFECTLY. Where ever this tool is made, the factory has great quality control.

This a really nice tool for separating pallet boards. It is well made and seems very durable. The tool requires assembly but putting it together is really easy. All of the sections thread together perfectly, with no issues at all. Set screws, along with a hex wrench, are included to secure the pieces together. Once assembled, the tool is very sturdy. The steel construction is robust and very solid. I did notice a bit of play where the pieces connect, but it does not affect the tool performance at all.I use pallets to make things like furniture and planters. This tool makes it a lot easier to separate the pallet boards. The tool is a really nice length, which is great for my back. I don't have to bend over at awkward angles when removing the boards with this tool. The fork fits around the boards perfectly, and I am able to separate them without damaging the boards. I really like that the feet on the tool rotate to maintain good contact with the boards. The entire process is a lot better.Overall, I am very happy with it. It is a good value for a sturdy pallet buster that works great.

This pallet buster is really strong. It has articulating arms so it stays flush with the board you are trying to pry up. This reduces the chance of splitting the wood that would happen if it placed greater pressure on one part of the board. The unit comes in three pieces that you screw together. Then line up the hole for the set screw and install it. With this design, you will not need to worry about it coming undone.I tried this out on a pallet. Of course, pallets vary, so my experience might differ from yours. The operating principle is to anchor the cross beam on a stringer and then pry the deck board off. On my pallet, the deck boards were too close to get inside to the stringer, so we cut the first board off. When we applied pressure to lift the deck board, it lifted the entire pallet. Using a couple of people standing on the pallet, we were able to lift the deck board. The pallet buster gave us incredible leverage without flexing under pressure.If your pallet requires cutting a board, I recommend cutting the center one first, then working outward. That way, you should be able to stand on the pallet and work alone. I found that sometimes the nail wins and the board pulls through the nail head, while other times the nails stay in the deck board.I have tried several pallet busters, including making my own, and this one is the strongest I have used.
