Replacement for Black+Decker 20V MAX Lithium Battery Charger

As I wrote in my title line, this is an easy item to review because it works well.Instead of being a one-piece unit (as with the Black+Decker original), this is a two-piece with separate DC power supply and charger. From page 4 of the User Manual, I understand why the seller builds their product this way: it explains that the same DC power supply can also be used with their other three chargers (DEWEI, Milwaukee, and Makita).Page 3 also explains the most important status bits of information:Red LED = Charging in ProgressGreen LED = Fully ChargedFor reference, the LED is not located on the charger, instead it is located on the top edge of the DC power supply.In my first photo I show what I received: the two pieces and the User Guide.In my second photo I show the red LED while charging.In my third photo I show the green LED to confirm fully charged.

I already have several I have several 20V Black+Decker Max Lithium batteries and have several chargers but the main reason I decided to get this charger is because it can also power other electronic devices through USB-A and Type-C ports. I have a very small woodworking hobby shop with limited plugins due to all the equipment I have in use and I often use my phone to listen to podcasts while working and have to tie up one outlet for a power source to keep my phone charged. Since this charger has USB-A and Type-C ports I can use a 20V battery as a source of power for my phone without using an outlet.To use the USB port with any of my 20C Max Lithium Batteries so all I needed to do was plug in a battery to the charger, attach my USB cable to my phone and I was in business. I used this for a few hours and it worked flawlessly, keeping my phone fully charged and letting me listen to my favorite podcast shows.There is only one issue I found that concerns me about this charger. I noticed that the battery when plugged into the charger does not fit snugly so there is a bit of play in the connection. So, if you plan to use this a lot for charging then I would recommend having a piece of Velcro long enough to wrap around the battery and charger to keep it in place or a strong rubber band. Otherwise, you will find that the charger moves easily and tilts when connected to a battery. One other thing to point out is that in the small instruction sheet there is a Charging display status guide. When charging the red light is always on, when fully charged, the light will switch to green and when in standby mode the light is also always on green.Unlike more updated batteries that have a button you can push to see how much charge is left, all of my 20V Max lithium batteries do not have any way to display the charge level of the battery. The only feature that would make this better charger would be if a display was added that could tell you how much battery power is left.I already take some of my tools that use the 20V Max lithium batteries when I am traveling or going camping. The nice thing about this setup is that I can now power and charge other electronic devices and phones easily without needing a separate extension cord. The price for this device is also at a perfect price point so well worth the purchase.***** Five stars - Exceeded my expectations. I really love it!**** Four stars - Met my expectations. I really like that this charger has both a USB A port and a USB C port. Having both options makes it much more versatile than a charger that only has a single battery charging connection. I can charge one of my tool batteries while also using the other port to charge a USB device. I plug my chargers into a timed outlet so I know they are not sitting there continuously charging once the battery is full. With this charger, I can charge a USB device at the same time as I am charging a battery, which makes the setup even more useful. It gives me another way to use the charger instead of it sitting there doing nothing once the battery is charged.The charger itself appears to be authentic and is compatible with both my OEM and third party batteries. The batteries slide on and connect properly, and I have not had any issues with charging. It also seems to perform just as well as the OEM charger I was using previously. I like having the flexibility of being able to use the charger for more than just batteries. The combination of the battery charging capability with USB A and USB C charging makes this a handy charger to have around the garage or wherever I keep my cordless tools. So far, I have had no issues with the charger or the batteries I have used with it. Everything works as expected and the additional USB ports are a feature I will definitely get some use out of.Overall, I am very happy with this charger. It works with both my OEM and third party batteries, appears to be well made, and performs as well as the OEM charger I replaced. The USB A and USB C ports add a lot of versatility, especially since I can use one of them to charge another device while charging a battery. I found this charger to be a good value.

This is a great device to have on hand if you have Black and Decker tools that use 20 Volt batteries. This serves as both a battery charger, and can also be used as a step-down converter to adapt the battery to act as a 5 Volt USB power source for charging phones and other USB devices. You slide the small adapter onto the battery for either function. It fits well and doesn’t feel loose or sloppy.I tested the charger/converter to charge my phone and it worked great. I attached the adapter to my 20 Volt battery and plugged my own USB-A cable into the port on the adapter. My phone charged from about 65% to 100% and the battery still had charge left. But how much charge time you get will, of course, depend on the capacity and condition of the battery.I also tested the charging function by charging the same 20 Volt battery, and that worked great too. For that function, you plug the included “wall wart” charger into the round DC input on the adapter. A red light on the wall wart shows that the battery is charging and a green light indicates that charging is complete. The wall wart gets quite warm when charging indicating that it might be a bit underpowered to charge the battery, but it does work. And the wall wart cools off once the green light comes on, indicating that it stops feeding current and won’t overcharge the battery. That’s a good thing.Overall, this charger/converter works well and does everything promised on the product page. The somewhat weak wall wart power supply could be better, but I think it’s adequate considering the very reasonable current price of $14.95.

The batteries are great for the dogs collar. Great price. I'll be ordering more from here.

The only issue I had was the battery bring very easy to turn after locking. I just used black electrical tape to secure it.

The 1st one I opened did not work abut the rest are working fine
