When you don't want the utilitarian look of a large blade fan in room but need some air circulation these 'fandeliers' are an ideal solution. The fact that this 'fandelier' is so easy to install is almost as nice as the fixture itself. After mounting the wide ceiling plate -that extends beyond a traditional ceiling electric supply box- the fixture merely twists into place. The light socket bases are hinged to make installing a bulb more easy and to direct specialty bulbs up and down. The listing alternatively specifies 40 watt and 60 watt maximum bulbs but the fixture can actually support 60 watt bulbs. A true 60 watt incandescent bulb produces a lot of heat and that would be immediately adjacent to the soft cotton yarn shade. I will only use an LED bulb because no matter how bright the bulb it won't produce enough heat to damage the cotton shade. I love the remote control that feature that allows me to adjust the speed of the fan or change the direction of its spin without having to leave my chair. If you don't like the fixture's champagne gold color you can spray the metal with a primer and any other color like I'm doing. I'm converting the finish to a metallic silver and spraying the cotton yarn silver as well to go with the silver grey theme of the room. This fandelier is a classy, well functioning, and practical alternative to traditional ceiling fans.
