Exceptional Value and Easy InstallationExceptional Value and Easy Installation

I have had great luck with these non-OEM shower cartridges. At approximately $15 per unit, they are an exceptional value, especially considering an OEM replacement often costs around $65. If these last even a quarter as long as the original, you are already ahead of the game.Installation is straightforward, though I highly recommend using a professional puller tool—like the one from Flowrite—to remove the old cartridge, as they can sometimes be difficult to extract. Just remember to use plumber's grease during installation and ensure the retaining clip is properly seated. Overall, this is a solid, budget-friendly solution for maintaining your Moen Posi-Temp faucet.

Great Price and Perfect Fit!!

[Color: Cartridge]
I’m extremely impressed with this non-OE replacement for the Moen shower valve model 1222. It was exactly what I needed and turned out to be a perfect fit with no modifications, adjustments, or hassle required during installation; just make sure to lubricate the valve so it slides in perfectly. The quality appears excellent, and once installed, it functioned flawlessly right out of the box. Everything operates smoothly and reliably, and it has performed just as well as the original valve at a much more reasonable price. I especially appreciate how closely this replacement matches the fit and functionality of the OEM part. If you need a dependable replacement for a Moen 1222, I highly recommend this one. Great value, excellent performance, and an easy installation. I would definitely purchase it again.

My shower valve cartridge saga is finally over...

[Color: Cartridge]
I've replaced my Moen shower valve cartridge a few times at this point. The first time was to install the all-brass version of this cartridge, but I found that one prevented me from getting very hot water to the tub (something to do with the orifice sizes being larger, I suspect). No amount of adjustment to the anti-scald setting would fix it. So then I replaced that one with my original cartridge, which was pretty worn (not leaking, but needed o-rings and seals). Replacing that one with this cartridge was the easiest solution...and this cartridge is a cut above all of the other ones and the closest to the original Moen quality that I've seen. My tub is back to normal, but the handle is working much smoother. Take it from me, this one is better than most of what you'll find out there. $20 buck is a little more than the cheapest cartridges, but this one is worth the price difference. I hope this is my last installment in "days of our cartridges"...I'm done.

No More Annoying Shower Drips! No More Annoying Shower Drips!

[Color: Cartridge, Color: Cartridge]
My shower handle had started getting harder to turn, and I was also dealing with a small drip, so I decided to replace the cartridge. This one was a good match for my Moen Posi-Temp faucet and fit where the old cartridge came out. The brass core feels solid, and the cartridge went into place without any trouble. Once everything was back together, the handle moved much more smoothly and I had better control over the water temperature. The biggest difference for me was getting rid of that annoying drip. The water shuts off properly now, and I don’t have to keep adjusting the handle to get the temperature where I want it. It feels like a solid replacement part and has been working exactly as it should. If you have an older one-handle Moen shower that needs a 1222 replacement, this cartridge is worth considering.

As long as the valve cartridge is the only part you need to replace, this will work great.

[Color: Cartridge]
When considering MOEN 1222 Shower valve replacement cartridges, some come with additional replacement parts that you might need, maybe a screw, or a plastic show handle connector. Or some come with a basic removal tool which is almost always necessary to get the old cartridge out. But if you already have the specialized tool, and won't need the optional parts, this valve cartridge can save you a lot of money. It comes with a healthy amount of lubricant (far more than you would need for the valve installation), and a replacement retaining clip. It looks identical to the OEM Moen 1222 shower cartridge that came new in the valve when it was installed. It operates identically, too. It may be all that you need.If you have the tool, and you've replaced a cartridge or two before, you can make an informed decision that this will be sufficient.

Just 1 more thing...
Shower Cartridge Kit Compatible with Moen 1222 Replacement Cartridge

[Color: Cartridge]
TL;DR - I really hope this lasts long term, you can never tell with these. However, the price is great for what you get and seems it will last a while. But only time will tell.Full Review - This is currently priced at $20 which is about $10 cheaper than the OEM. The water pressure in my home is really high so I have gone through a few of these cartridges already in the past.If you know what you are doing, this is a 5min job. If you need to youtube it and then learn on the fly it will take you 20-30 min to get it changed out. This was no different and fit exactly as expected and is a good fit for the 1222 Moen replacement cartridge.Overall, Im happy it comes with a little grease packet and the appropriate washers. The price is good for what you get and is a good replacement from OEM and I would definitely recommend. Easy installation.

Well packaged and a great price.Well packaged and a great price.

I think how an item is packaged is many times a reflection of the quality you will be receiving. That's the case with these replacement stems. They didn't cut corners making sure they were well protected. Individually wrapped and then in protective foam cases is much nicer than the packaging of the brand name ones I'd buy at the store. These stems are probably the most common ones I replace all the time at work, so getting two for less than the price of one is a good score. They look, feel and function just like OEM. They also seem just as durable as all the others. I'd had no problem installing one of them and it turns smoothly and without leaks. It also comes with a new retaining clip and lube, so you won't need to supply anything else.As for price, you get two for less than the price of one, so I think this is a great value and I'll definitely get more for work as needed.

Works as well as OEM...Works as well as OEM...

[Color: Cartridge 2 Packs, Color: Cartridge 2 Packs]
Time will tell how long these last, but they appear to be as good as any I've used. And I've used MANY. I've been in my current home for 18 years, and I've used the very expensive OEM cartridges, as well as many different Amazon-purchased brands. Here's a free insider secret... they are all the same. I get about 3 or 4 years out of them, no matter what brand they are.The secret to having these last as long as possible is to get a roll of to clean out the valve body. Once you pull out the old valve core, stick your finger in the valve body and feel around. You'll probably find that mineral deposits have left a sharp scale buildup inside the valve body by the holes. That's what ruins the valve cores and makes them fail. That stuff rubs on the rubber parts until they finally either wear them out so they drip, or they gall, spin out of position, and reeeally leak.Get your finger in the hollow valve body with a piece of emery cloth and lightly rub the deposits until it's smooth again. It'll be wet in there, but the emery cloth is waterproof. Then lube up the rubber parts on the new core, stick it in, and put everything back together. I've gotten so I can do the whole thing in about 30 minutes using .If you have one of these valves (I have three bathrooms, and one in each), you should buy the puller and emery cloth, and keep a spare one of these cores on hand. When they go, it's nice to have everything ready, which is why I bought this two pack.(Written by an actual human, with actual experience, and with zero help from AI - which is rare these days.) I hope this helps!
