We didn't want to be limited by down rods with fixed measurements, since we'll be hanging it over the sink in our farmhouse's kitchen, which has 10-foot ceilings, and we’re really not sure how high we want it yet. My husband looked at the installation instructions and said it is straight forward, with all the parts included. My shade did have a small crack at the top, but when I put the light together it doesn't show at all, but it's good to know that the item description says customer service will replace a shade damaged in delivery for free, plus they respond to installation questions. I do like this light and look forward to having it hang over our sink.
