T8 LED Bulbs 4 Foot 18W

This is a 10 pack of type B 4’LED bulbs that are set for 5k temperature. I have been working through our lights in the office to replace the regular fluorescent bulbs with LED when the ballast breaks. The main reason I would go to these LED lights is so I can remove the ballast and go directly to 120 and take out one more part that has to be replaced. Sometimes it is the bulb and sometimes it is the ballast. So why not just have it work with 120. The other thing is they are more durable and not susceptible to breaking like glass. Sometimes there is a tight fit and I feel like I am going to break a bulb just taking it out. With plastic I feel there is a little more freedom. This did not come with any instructions on how to convert away from the ballast nor did it provide a warning sticker so the next person changing the bulb doesn’t put in a Type A or fluorescent bulb. One nice thing is that these are only using 18 watts. So there is a small savings per bulb from a standard 32 watt fluorescent light. However, across 75 to 100 bulbs in a small office that can add up. Fluorescents only kicks off about 25% of the heat of an incandescent bulb but an LED bulb can be even less. So this also helps for cooling in the summer. Not a big deal, but a small detail that does help. For 10 bulbs that are static B type and a set 5K temperature this is a good value for the cost they are charging. My only gripe with LED is that the electronics burn out before the light. I think that is what the industry is not telling us. I will have to wait and see what the lifespan of these are to determine if the brand provides a good quality for the cost.

Until I ran across these, I had never even heard of a bypass bulb. Having a shop in the basement lighting is always an issue. And if you are like me, you have a number of 4 foot fluorescent lights lying about in various states of repair. I was a little hesitant to order 4 foot bulbs through the mail as it were. I was very pleasantly surprised to see the level of packing and the condition of the tubes upon delivery. The conversion basically consists of snipping out the ballast and directly wiring to the pick ups. It takes about 10 minutes per light. I ordered the 5000s for the daylight brightness and I’m not disappointed. The interesting thing is you can use just one tube if you want to cut down on the amount of light if you are close in. That is certainly an advantage over the standard two bulb fluorescent. The price is good. The quality is good. I will definitely be ordering more as I work my way through the shop.

These tubes are a pretty bright replacement for fluorescent tubes. There is not much on these tubes as far as labeling goes, but they have a nice whiteness, brightness, and dispersion through a frosted lens.T8 replacements come in several varieties (and I've pretty much used/tried them all). Single-Ended tubes were popular when these first became available but the potential for electrical issues (shorting, etc) has pretty much eliminated that option. Double-ended are the most popular option right now and the choice is whether you want a drop-in solution which can work with a ballast remaining in place, or whether you want a "Ballast Bypass" solution which requires removal. Personally, I would ALWAYS opt for the "Ballast Bypass" option as removal (or bypass) of the ballast effectively removes a routinely problematic component completely from the equation. Take the time to remove or bypass the ballast and you won't regret the time spent.While these tubes seems to be a pretty good replacement strategy, they are also completely constructed of plastic. I've seen more and more of this type of construction lately. It used to be that LED replacement tubes almost always used an aluminum channel as the backbone of their structure. It was not only extremely rigid, but it also served as a heat sink for the LED's which can generate non-trivial heat. Lately, I've seen more and more of these tubes being built on a completely plastic structure. They certainly are lighter, but is the loss of a meaningful heat sink going to limit longevity? Full disclosure: I have been running other "plastic" replacement tubes over my work bench for several months and they are still operating without any issue (or sagging).

This 10-pack of Luminosum LED 48” light bulbs is a good deal at $5.00 each bulb. The bulbs arrived packaged in individual foam sleeves and protective caps on the pins on each end. A couple of the bulbs had something loose and rattling inside, probably due to rough handling during shipping. The bulbs were still functional without any issues despite the rattle.The bulbs are bright and there is no flickering compared to the old florescent bulbs. The LED lights are instant on when flipping the switch, and there is no humming noise like in the old bulbs. These LED bulbs are type B, which means they bypass the ballast, like plug and play. There was no need to re-wire anything or to remove the ballasts from the light fixtures that are about 20 years old.I swapped out the light bulbs in the laundry room. After installing these LED bulbs, I noticed the colors of fabrics and clothing appeared more accurate than under the old florescent light. The bulbs I ordered are 5000K, which is neutral white and very close to daylight.I installed two of the bulbs over a work bench in the garage. They are bright and great for working on projects. The bulbs are lighter weight and smaller diameter than the old florescent lights, but the light output is better, more natural and brighter. Next I will swap out 4 more florescent bulbs in the garage so all are the same bright LED light. When installing, just make sure the band along the bulb is facing up. There is also a small arrow marking the band.

These were a great upgrade for my old shop lights. They're working well for me. As the old fluorescent bulbs burn out, I've been replacing the fluorescent bulbs in my shop lights with LEDS. These fit in the tombstones in my old fluorescent shop lights perfectly. Installation was fairly easy. It wasn't too hard to rewire the lights to bypass the ballast. I was also able to resurrect two old fixtures that I had in storage that had bad ballasts. It was never worth the price to replace the ballasts to use them with fluorescent tubes. Since these LED tubes bypass the ballasts, I was able to rewire the old ones and use them again. It's nice to be able to turn the lights on and not have the hum and flickering of the old ballasts and fluorescent tubes. The color and brightness isn't much different than my old fluorescent tubes. These LED's are supposed to be more energy efficient. The light output is spread out fairly well. The retail packaging did a good job of protecting the bulbs. The tubes were individually wrapped and securely packaged. It's a good value for ten quality LED bulbs.

These are "type B" LED bulbs which mean that they fit in a typical 48" fluorescent tube light fixture, but they only work if they are used in the AC circuit directly or if you bypass the ballast, I show you how to do this in the video but there are lots of help videos online that can describe the process in more detail. It took a bit of effort to remove the old ballast in my flourescent tube lights, but the payoff was worth it. For less overall energy consumption, I get a lot more light out compared to the buzzing, mercury vapor tubes found in fluorescent lighting!Pros:1) Brightness & Clarity: These bulbs provide fantastic, stable brightness—definitely a noticeable upgrade over standard traditional tubes for the same wattage—and they operate completely flicker-free.2) Easy Retrofit: If you already are using type B fixtures, they go in withthout any modificatoin, but if you have the type A fixture (the kind with a ballast, bypassing isnt too difficult if you are comfortable with this kind of work and can do it safely. Otherwise, hire a professional to help. In my case, bypass went smoothly into my existing fixture.3) Build Quality: The coated glass gives them a durable, sturdy feel that looks like it will hold up well long-term. I even dropped one while installing, and it works great. Try that with a fluroescent light and you will be picking glass out of your carpets for weeks.Cons:A) Quality Control: I am knocking off one star because one of the tubes arrived with a defective pin right out of the box. It’s an issue that really should have been caught during factory inspection/QA before packaging.Overall:Despite the single bad pin, the remaining lights are working exceptionally well in my space. At about $5 a bulb, having one bad light out of the box of 10 is still cheaper than paying big box store prices. They have great flicjker-free light output, and are energy-efficient!

My garage still had the original fluorescent shop lights, and while they worked, they had all the usual fluorescent quirks. Slow starts when it was cold, aging ballasts, and eventually I'd have to deal with mercury-containing tubes. It was time.First, know what you're buying. These are Type B ballast bypass bulbs. That means you remove or bypass the ballast and wire the fixture directly. If you've never done basic electrical work, watch a couple of YouTube videos first. It took me about 15 minutes per fixture with a ladder, wire strippers, a screwdriver, and a couple of wire nuts.The bulbs themselves arrived very well packed with protective caps over the pins and plenty of cushioning. Installation couldn't be much easier once the fixture is rewired. Slide them into the tombstones, give them a quarter turn, and BAM...instant light.One tip I wish the instructions emphasized: pay attention to the orientation of the bulbs. These have a small "dead spot" along one side where the LEDs aren't located. If you install that side facing down, you'll see a dark stripe running the length of the bulb and lose some usable light. Rotate the tube so the illuminated side faces the area you're lighting and they look much better.Brightness? I should have paid closer attention to the specifications. These are about 2,525 lumens each, so they aren't stadium lights. In my garage they were a little brighter than the aging fluorescent tubes they replaced, but not dramatically so. My photos show the difference. It's noticeable, just don't expect your garage to suddenly look like an operating room.Where these really shine is everything else. Instant-on lighting, no buzzing, no flickering, lower power consumption, no ballasts to fail, and no mercury to worry about when it's time to replace them.At roughly $5 per bulb in the 10-pack, they're a solid value. If you're looking for an easy way to modernize older fluorescent fixtures without replacing the entire fixture, these are a worthwhile upgrade. Just remember you're buying efficiency and reliability first, with a modest boost in brightness as a bonus.

I replaced eight old fluorescent tubes in my garage workshop with these LUMINOSUM T8 LEDs and the diffrence in light quality is genuinley dramatic. The old tubes gave off that dim, flickery, slightly yellowish light that made it hard to see detail work clearly. These LEDs are bright, consistant, and clean white from the moment you flip the switch — no warmup time, no flicker, no buzzing. The workspace feels significently more functional now and I actualy enjoy spending time out there in the evenings.The ballast bypass instalation is more straightforward then it might sound to someone who hasn’t done it before. You basicly just disconnect the ballast wiring and connect the line voltage directly to the tombstone sockets at each end of the fixture — there are plenty of tutorials online and the dual end power design means the wiring is simpler then single end setups. I did eight fixtures in about two hours working at a relaxed pace with basic electrician knowledge. The tubes fit my existing T8 fixtures without any modifcation to the fixture itself.The coated glass feels noticeably more solid then the thin plastic sleeve tubes I’ve bought in the past, and the scratch resistant finish is a nice practical touch for a garage enviroment where things ocasionally bump into the lights. Energy savings compared to the old fluorescents have been noticable on my electric bill to. For anyone upgrading a garage, shop, warehouse, or comercial space, these are a genuinley well priced and high performing tube LED.
